Owning a pet is expensive! Let alone 6! I’m so glad that there is a program like FACE to help people and their pets get good, low cost care.
We adopted a stray and our normal vet wanted to charge $ 350 to just to spay her. That didn’t include vaccinations and de-​worming her. I was looking for cheaper options and I found FACE. Spays for females under 35lbs. is only $ 55 and we got her micro chipped, nails clipped for an extra $ 20.
I’m not going to lie, going through the process is a little scary. Drop off for dogs is 8−9AM and you can’t pick them back up until 5:30−6PM. Be warned, there are a lot of animals being dropped off. You’ll hear lot of crying and barking. even from the pets (just joking, uh, not really).
The process of dropping off goes pretty fast considering there are a lot of people/​animals there. You get assigned number and your pet is fit with a disposable collar with your last name on it. You’re thinking, what if it falls off? Will I every see him/​her again? You are given a number and then asked to wait for your number to be called. When they call your number they take you to a side room where they check off to make sure everything that you want done is listed. They take off your pet’s collar (leaving only the disposable one, which added to my stress) and have you hold your pet while they give him/​her a shot to help them stay calm. Then you are sent off.

I was concerned that pick up time would be a nightmare because of all the people that were there for drop off, but thankfully it wasn’t. You check in and there is a short wait while they bring your pet out. The staff explains symptoms to look out for, the number to call if problems arise and what your pet should and shouldn’t do while he/​she heals.
The one thing I didn’t really notice because I was worried about Lucy the whole time, was that there were a LOT of volunteers. And I think that’s one of the things that makes the whole process so easy; I can only imagine what a nightmare it would have been if they didn’t have all those caring individuals guiding you and you pet through the process.
