My son’s haircut was very quick, but still great quality. I did not get the name of the lady that cut his hair, but it looks really nice. For $ 15 including tip, we will be back!

Great experience. I’m pretty conservative when it comes to barbers. I want a barber who knows what an «Ivy League» and a «businessman» are. I don’t care for hipster, trying-to-look-old-school-but-still-new-school stuff. A barber in a smock and the smell of Pinaud in the air is what I’m looking for. And Elmer’s hit the mark! This is a classic barber shop: comfortable and traditional. I highly recommend Elmer’s. $ 12 for a haircut with a straight razor finish. I’ll be going back.

Pretty nice experience. Typical barbershop. Elmer was out this week so I got my haircut by one of the ladies. I asked for a no guard-to a 1– and leave the top. She did a no guard all the way to the top and didn’t fade at all. Now it looks like I just came out of boot camp –___– I double checked and made sure she knew what I wanted too. Guess I will make myself even more clear next time. The razor blade neck shave at the end was pleasant, however.

Have you been going to high priced barber shop salons looking for a classic barbershop experience? So was I until I found Elmer’s. For me, this is a local gem that teters between so good I want to keep it to myself and too good not to share. On the surface, this is just any old barber shop in an unappreciated strip mall. However, as you enter you can see a barber shop that used to be quite a hoppin’ spot in Irvington. Seats full of people hanging out, waiting to get a hair cut, both with equal priority. Things have changed since those days, but the thing that has remained: this is a MIGHTY fine place to get your hair cut. Elmer and two female barbers work the chairs in the shop. I only get my hair cut by Elmer but have seen and heard nothing but good work from the other two barbers: from male and female haircuts to full straight razor head shaves. Things that keep me coming back: 1. Elmer does a mighty fine classic/vintage men’s haircut. The first time I went in and explained what I was looking for, I was nervous because I generally hate haircuts and was used to a lot of mistakes like hair sticking out at the crown, etc. even from some of the fancy barber shops. Elmer finished my hair in maybe 10 minutes and it was better than any one had ever cut it. Been going back since. 2. Elmer. He’s a fun guy who knows a LOT about what he does as well as the history behind it. He has been cutting hair for over forty years. 3. The price. Haircuts are $ 11! Haircut includes a straight razor outline. You’ll have to call if you want to know the straight razor face shave prices, but I think they are $ 6 or so. Next time you think about paying $ 30 for a haircut, checkout Elmer’s. No frills, just solid barbering.
