Stopped in after a flight into Indy based on the reviews. All was excellent. Great place for hotdogs. Staff was very friendly.

It’s probably called DJs hotdogs not DJs burgers for a reason! I’m a little bummed about paying 12 $ for a really tasteless meal. I would have been better off getting a hotdog for sure. I always feel bad about writing bad reviews but I think this one is warranted. They young lady that took my order barely spoke above a whisper and was half asleep. I ordered a create your own burger and it was made wrong. I hate ketchup and my burger was covered in it. I definitely didn’t order ketchup. The meat is unseasoned and taste like a greasy frying pan burger. I would have given them the chance to fix it but I got carry out to eat back at work. There fries are boring as well. I paid almost 5 $ for bacon cheese fries that had a handful of old bacon and a little shredded cheese. They also use cheap crinkle fries that were tasteless. The guy that handed me my food was very pleasant and the store seems well maintained… Obviously the reason for giving them a few stars. I feel like these small chains out price themselves in an effort to compete but if your food is blah nobody will come back and pay 12 bucks for lunch.

I stopped in here because my car was being worked on next door. I was hungry and walking distance there wasn’t much. I’ve driven by this place many times and always wondered how it was, the lack of reviews was questionable as the Unilocal community is typically pretty strong in this area. Time to dive in! I came late(I think it was 3pm) so I was the only one there. I approached the order window which looks into the kitchen and stared at the menu wall trying to decide what I want. I’m not a huge fan of hot dogs(I know, I know… the place has hot dog in the name) so I decided to look at Specialties and Burgers. The guy behind the counter told me that the burgers are one of their most popular options, specifically the Jersey City so I took his suggestion. I asked for my burger Medium in which he replied that they can only do burgers Well Done. WHAT!!! I stuttered and fumbled around looking at the menu saying I have to change my order as anything cooked well done is blasphemy. I was clearly having a hard time deciding because he attempted to negotiate me back to the burger claiming it is delicious and I wont regret it. Fine. The burger did not take long because they smash it down to cook it faster(also killing all the flavor and spilling all the juices) and it came out in a tin foil covered paper tray like at a ball game. This thing did not look magnificent by any means(picture below), but let my taste buds be the judge here. I took a bite. Meh. The patty was nearly flavorless. There wasn’t any seasoning that brought out some awesome flavor to make up for the fact all the normal burger flavor was cooked out. Honestly, if it wasn’t for the cheddar, BBQ sauce and bacon… the burger would have been like eating caloric air. The bacon was thick cut and had good flavor(I mean it’s bacon) and the cheddar was melty on the burger. All in all, I don’t think I have any reason to come back here. The place was clean, well lit and the people were friendly enough, but the food which is what this place should focus on… was a huge disapointment.

If you are craving a hotdog or other ballpark favorite you should try Djs Hotdog! We come here when we are in the mood for a good Chicago style dog and chili cheese fries. It’s definitely not the place to go if you’re looking for a healthy option… But delicious no matter what. Plus the service is great and the rewards program is awesome.(secret truth… We come here a lot)

Chicago hot dogs(not a drop of ketchup) and Italian beef sandwiches(wet w/giardiniera) for you purists! This is a new(ish) location for this local chain. I’m pleased to say that the Italian beef was pretty good and the fries were excellent(hot and crispy straight out of the fryer). They have several city-themed(New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Indianapolis, etc.) hot dogs with the highlight being the Chicago dog(mustard, relish, tomato, celery salt, sport peppers) of course. Besides dogs and Italian beef, I saw that they had hamburgers, brats, and Polish sausage(another of my hometown favorites). Order at the walk-up counter and get your own drink from the fountain machine. Sit inside or outside in the huge covered patio. They will bring your order out to you. The rating would be higher, but it’s a bit pricey. Almost $ 9 for the large Italian Beef then add another $ 4 to make it a combo(fries and drink). That’s almost $ 14(with tax) for something I used to pay less than $ 10 for in one of the most famous Italian beef restaurants in Chicago. So while I’m happy to say I can get a taste of home on the northwest side of Indy, budgetary constraints probably won’t allow me to go every day.
