We stopped in here for lunch on a Saturday and although the service was great the food was lacking in flavor and freshness and the price was what I considered on the high side. We ordered potato skins to start, which I love, however 4 skins for $ 9.95 is a bit excessive. Lunch was a margherita flatbread to split with 2 and 2 ahi tacos. Although our friends said their tacos were okay, our flatbread needed a few more minutes in the oven, the dough was not crisp enough and the tomatoes were still raw. I am not sure if I would return to this Champps but would probably give another location a try.

I was in town for business and had a lot of meetings in the afternoon so I didn’t get to eat lunch. It was around 4 pm and I wanted a glass of wine and a snack to hold me over until dinner. I normally try to stick with local restaurants, not chains, but Champps has always been a decent option. I walked in, got a seat at the bar. Then I waited. I waited and waited and then I waited some more. I put away my phone, made sure that I looked approachable. The restaurant barely had any people in it. I understand the bartender has to make drinks for the tables too and that’s why I waited for 10 minutes before I finally had had enough and I just got up and left. It’s totally inexcusable.

I’m going to start this by saying this has ZERO reflection on the staff. They were great! The food, on the other hand, was soooo disappointing. What happened to this place over the last few years? It had been nearly 4 years since my last visit, and frankly, it will most likely be my last… except for drinks perhaps. Things are so overpriced and geared toward people who just have no food imagination. I had a bbq sandwich that tasted like canned meat, the bun was blah! I had tap water to drink which had a chlorine taste to it. We pressed the pretzel appetizer, $ 9, come on it’s dough rolled in salt! The«ground mustard» which I was hoping would be spicy was flavor less and the cheese dipping sauce had been under the heat lamp to long. Seriously, I felt as if things had been taken out of a bag/box, thrown in the microwave and then tossed on a fake grill for presentation. $ 60 later for three with no drinks, even my wallet was disappointed!

My boyfriend and I were in town from Florida and wanted to have a dinner that wasn’t sports bar type food. This was a great place for that. I had the 8 oz. sirloin steak with garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli. The steak was cooked exactly as I asked, potatoes and broccoli were very good. Lots of flavor and our food was out very fast.

30 minutes to get our lemonade for kids. Dinner is not here and we’re told 10 minutes. Wow. Place has open tables too. It’s the kitchen not the waiters. They’re all waiting for their orders to come up. Their glass expo to the kitchen ain’t paying off. Bad bad. Get someone in to look at your kitchen ops.

This place isn’t too bad. The service is spotty at best. Our server(in the bar area) greeted us right away and was very friendly, but we hardly ever saw her after we put in our order. She never came by to refill our drinks and it took forever to flag her down to get her check. After that, it took forever for her to come back with our change. The food itself is pretty good. The fries were crispy and seasoned(it’s amazing how many places don’t season the fries). The food looked good when it came out and was hot. This is a great place to watch some games(football, basketball, etc.) because there are a lot of TVs and some big screens.

I have been to Champps several times and it is just, well, meh. The service is always good, but the food is underwhelming. Typical American faire, shall we say. If you are a sports fan, this is a great place to watch a game and enjoy sports food staples such as wings, quesadillas, potato skins, etc.

Thank you for being the only restaurant to stay open after the game! You have my business without question!

Ordered grilled chicken sandwich. Food arrived within four minutes because chicken was precooked and barely warm. One would think if paying $ 14 for a sandwich they would put some care into making the dish. This is what happens when restaurant is across from convention center and there is a trade show. Two stars are only girl the hot fries.

We went to this restaurant before the Indianapolis Indians game and it was nice. A little slow to get service at first, but then our server was on it after that. He was very pleasant. The food was ok, a little pricey for the options you get. But over all it was a nice place.

The are right across the street from the Conrad. I got in late and was luckily able to find something open at 10:30 on a Sunday night. Dropped and had a burger and a beer at the bar. I might be willing do giver dinner there a chance. The service and food were very good, and the food came out exceptionlly fast.

Another time I wish Unilocal would allow NEGATIVESTARS. I will never willingly come back here! This is a normal spot for work lunches or after work drinks, so I just stop by for the company. So I was in charge of a happy hour for coworkers. Decided to shop around and Champps had been thrown around and they don’t charge for reservation to set aside a few tables for you. So I went with it. Worst decision I’ve ever made. EVER. I arrived first to check in, check out the table(for 15) and I was already skeptical. The entire place was empty for 5:15pm and they set aside about 4 small tables for 15 people, WHENTHERESTAURANTWASEMTPY. So it was really frustrating when they wouldn’t help us get more tables and give us more room, when there was so much room around us! And then we only had ONE server. We clearly see 4 – 5 other servers just walking around, hanging out at the bar and just ignoring us! Our drinks were barely refilled, our waiter got my drink wrong 3 times before I just said to forget it. I have never been MORE disappointed in a visit ever. I can’t even talk about the food, because during this service, everything just had a terrible taste of disappointment. I’m sorry to be so harsh but goodness, this place was THEWORST.

Lackluster and overpriced food, but a fun sports bar atmosphere in a good location downtown. I’ve had several burgers and a couple salads here(most of the time having popped in on my lunch break) and a word I can use to describe them is fine. Nothing special, but an okay option for a fast bite. I usually sit at the bar for quicker service — the daytime bartenders are friendly. A good tip I want to pass along: joining their rewards club gets you a free burger on your next visit. Call me cheap, but I’ll never pass up a free meal.

Just a quick review. Service was patchy… friendly but slow, no water refills, no checking up if we needed anything. The food quality was great as always though. i ordered the nachos for my meal. I did not know that those where the size of the Matterhorn… I ate and ate and ate… the mountain did not seem to diminish at all. My daughter ate shrimp pasta and that was quite delicate and tasty.

Best of the big sports bars in downtown Indy combining a dependable menu of food and beverages all under an umbrella of big screen TVs for anything sport. With work colleagues or alone, I’ve only enjoyed the appetizers, burgers and salads… of which they all score well.

Beers and sports. Terrific. Lots of super taps and the food is really good. I like the chicken wings a lot. If you are a pretzel fan give the giant pretzel a try. It is like a trophy! Great mustard with it too. They have terrific happy hour specials and super service. I like the bar area a lot and find the chairs comfortable with decent viewing of the multiple screens.

I have been here many times and one of the things I like is that the service and food are consistently good. I go more often now, because they have veggie burgers, done the right way. That is, any burger can have a veggie burger substituted. My burger choice was the South of the Border. It had a great spicy taste. Also had the onion rings. Even thought they were not hot, they still had a wonderful taste. Might be even better at the proper temperature. My wife had the French Dip and a Wedge Salad. Both were to her liking. Our server, Joti, was attentive and efficient, even with a busy set of tables. We did not complain to her about the rings. This is a go-to place for me for sports bars. Great ambiance and floor layout with TVs where you can see them. Fairly affordable prices, too!

I hadn’t been to Champps in quite some time, and the last time was at the location on Indy’s Northside. When a friend suggested lunch today, we decided getting out of the office was in order so we headed to the nearby Circle Centre Mall and Champps looked like it could work within the confines of a lunch hour. Champps, for those who don’t know, is a sports bar-themed restaurant that started in Minnesota in 1984 and now boasts over 50 locations nationwide including a couple in Central Indiana. They have massive television screens on their walls, made-from-scratch American cuisine, and lots of brews. As we were working on a time limit, I kept it simple with an order of chicken tenders, fries, and an iced tea. At first sight, the chicken tenders(4) seemed a bit small but they were quality tenders and ended up being just about perfect. They weren’t overly greasy and the meat was perfect. I felt full, but not absolutely stuffed. The french fries were a decent size order but, once again, not too much. They were browned and lightly seasoned and quite tasty. The iced tea had a nice flavor to it. My friend had a veggie burger, which she’d had before and seems to be a «go to» meal for her at this type of place as she’s a vegetarian. The server was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. I got a refill of iced tea without having to ask, always a plus, and the food all came out in a timely manner and was delivered as ordered. The only slight snag in my visit was a logistical matter in terms of my wheelchair. While it was refreshing to not be stuck in some weird corner, which seems to happen a lot in a wheelchair, the table we were at ended up getting blocked in since we were in the middle of an aisle. About five minutes before we were leaving, a family arrived(two adults, two children) and the father needed to get out of his chair and move so that I could exit. While he was perfectly nice about it(and the kids were awesome!), it’s never a good thing to have customers inconvenienced. So, I have to take a star off for that as it’s a fairly avoidable logistical issue. It’s nearly impossible to plan perfectly for a wheelchair, but this could be as simple as a slight design adjustment of tables and/or simply some intentional pre-planning. Overall, this was a terrific addition to the work day. At under $ 20, I had a quality meal in a pleasant environment and winning service. I’ll definitely be back.

There’s something to be said about a place that has extra consonants in its name. Especially the letter ‘P’, which by definition is a speech sound produced by occluding with or without releasing the flow of air from the lungs… So that’s like, «Hey we know we’re cool, but we’re extra cool because we get all over that english articulation and stuff.» Champps Americana is all things ‘Merica from the time you hear John Mellencamp blasting on the speakers to the smell of Angus beef burgers grillin’ in the kitchen. Much like«the melting pot», they offer Italian, asian, and latin options on their menu. In addition to that, the happy hour specials aren’t bad at all — five bucks for apps except for the sampler platter. I got a lil crazy and ordered a few things, but kept it pretty standard to do a review… wings, pizza, tater skins, chicken strips, and a bottle of vino. The server was very patient and helpful with menu items, she had me very sold on the skins(sort of not a fan of them) so I was expecting explosiveness. It was a slight let down, biting into huge bland potato chunks with bacon and cheese wrapped around them. The flatbread pizza was a little too dry, and the chicken wasn’t quite right either. I couldn’t actually eat the chicken wings, which sucked because they looked sooo good. I’m going to chalk this one up to arriving at the last minute — the Unilocal app times are different from the actual closing time — which the manager is emailing to correct. I have gone here several times before, and the food has been much more impressive so I can’t totally count this place out. I’ve had soups, salads, salmon, burgers and the waffle fries… no complaints about the dessert either. For the most part, they really get food right. I think today was an off night. Sorry to say, the wine definitely won this round Champp. I will come back again, as I do frequent the patio in the summer months. For an Americana type of place the value per ‘P is fair. Go here when you want to unwind during happy hour time… a tradition that is U.S.A. all the way.
