Love the baby back ribs and the sweet potato chips. Wish they had baby backs more often. Fast, friendly service. Reasonable price.

Yummy food. Tasty bbq on the beach. We usually stop in while on vacation. Its better for lunch for cost purposes. Pulled pork is my favorite. The Brunswick stew is a little too spicy for my taste. My son loves the fried pickles.

I haven’t met anyone yet who doesn’t love this place. The staff is friendly, and the food is amazing. The BBQ is the best around and they’ve even got good catfish. The only real knock is that some of the sides(peas and green beans) aren’t great, but in general the food is awesome.

Went here for lunch. Ambiance was OK, a little loud but what you’d expect for a BBQ joint. Service was a little less than par, with our waitress showing up well after we sat down, and me having to grab her to get silverware and later to get the check. Food was pretty good. Pulled pork sandwich was good. Sliced beef was actually cold(I don’t think it’s supposed to be)

The food here is AMAZING, and I love the fact that the lunch special is probably the best deal for the amount of food you get in the area. Unfortunately, the service is generally sub par. Sunday at 3:30 pm, and the parking lot is empty, and I sat at the window waiting, wondering if they’re possibly closed. Drove around and waited again before they come to the window. Waiting 15 minutes to get our food and a line up of 4 cars piles up behind us. Then the order is incorrect and slides by another few minutes before I decide to go inside because something else is missing and the waitresses are sitting at the bar and there’s one elderly gentleman near finished with his meal. For two sandwiches and a soup that are pre cooked, this was a little extreme. I know I could have gone to the Charlie & Jake’s in Suntree, and they would be busy, even though their food sucks in comparison, but their service is great. It’s sad, but people do value service, no matter how delicious the food may be; when you’re hungry, waiting for no apparent reason is disheartening.

I have eaten here a couple times, always using the drive thru take out. The ribs and bbq chicken are great. The garlic toast is great. So, for my limited use of this place I would definately recommend it. Very good food.

Came here fir lunch on a Sunday. Warm ambiance, good country playing in the background. I tried the 3 item combo of chicken, pulled pork, and turkey which I’ve never seen at a BBQ place. Got a ton of food for the price! and it all tasted good. It had great texture and good juice. Collard greens were good but nothijg to squeal about(get it, squeal, pig, bbq…) Also, servers were way cute. Totally coming back.

After reading the reviews and seeing that this is a long standing establishment in the area, we stopped in for dinner while in Melbourne. The Unilocal description says it’s a BBQ and soul food restaurant. The latter is very false unless having a greens on your menu qualifies as soul food. The ribs had little to no taste. The texture was as if the ribs were boiled prior to being put on the grill or perhaps left in some pot with water after cooking. The meat fell of the rib, which is not what you want in your ribs. You want ribs to tug a bit from the bone. The sides were also disappointing. The tables and chairs were outdated. I am sure those who frequent the place see it as a hometown favorite who may be used to that type of «bbq», but that’s not what I would expect from a bbq joint. The best of the food was the garlic bread.

Best darned BBQ chicken I have ever had, beyond my own of course. Prime rib sandwich my wife had was massive, smokey & tender. I ate an entire chicken.

Met some friends there yesterday for lunch. We started with the corn fritter appitizer– just like momma used to make; crisp on the outside and moist and full of corn nuggets on the inside. Three of us got the small«big» plate. It was a lot of food and one of our party had to take home left-overs! And the others had clean plates except for a cpl of rib bones. I got the pulled pork sandwich on garlic toast; freshly made garlic toast with a generous mound of fresh pulled pork. The smoky flavor made you wanting more. It came with two side of which they have quite a few to include sweet potato fries, reg fries, fried okra, vinegar and creamy slaws. I got the baked beans a mac & cheese. The portions were small but they were very tasty. We’re bringing the bike up with some other biker friends in a few weeks…

Used to live in Texas, and I’ve had BBQ in Carolinas, Memphis, Kansas City and Hawaii. I like Charlie & Jakes better than Mee Maws across the road. I really wish they had Texas style brisket and«hot links» sausages, but the pulled pork is good.

We’d passed Charlie & Jake’s a few times during our long weekend at the beach. On our last day, we decided we needed some BBQ before the drive home and popped in for lunch. We both went for sandwiches of their sliced beef. I did greens and mac n’ cheese and both were good. Mom went for a sweet potato and greens. The meat was tender and well-smoked and the sauces tasty. I rarely eat ribs anymore and was excited about the offer to add a few ribs to our meal. It was the perfect portion and they tasted great! Overall, good solid BBQ, not the best I’ve ever had but solid offering.

Been here a couple times to try different things and for some reason this locations food is alot worse than their suntree location. Its just odd since the have the same stuff. Maybe they use different food vendors or something? The service here is slow and the staff acts like they would rather be elsewhere. All of us would rather be elsewhere sister.

I’ve been coming here since I was a little girl, and it’s still exactly how I remember it — amazing! This place set my expectations for what BBQ should taste like and has made me really picky as a result when it comes to other BBQ joints. My go-to is the pulled pork with two sides and Texas toast. I highly recommend the sweet potato chips(fried wedge chips with cinnamon sugar) as one side, and I usually sub my other side for hush puppies and choose Texas toast as my «bread»(since you get to pick between Texas toast or hush puppies in addition to your sides). This way I get to have both(and can still make a sandwich if I want), and the hush puppies are great too — some of the best I’ve ever had! Also ask to try their white sauce since they don’t keep it on the tables. It has a unique flavor and is great with the pork especially for those who aren’t that fond of BBQ sauce like me. Today I ventured out from my usual because I saw they were advertising a 3-meat special on their billboard with 2 sides and bread for only $ 8.99! I tried the chicken and ribs in addition to the pork which were also pretty good, but I’m still a BBQ pork girl at heart. They also offer a sandwich lunch special with one meat(on regular bun or Texas toast), one side, and a soft drink for only $ 7. My boyfriend always get this when he goes for lunch! Another tip — they have cards that you have to ask for that you can get stamped every visit. Once you’ve had 10 visits, your next meal is free! Absolutely love this place!

If there was one restaurant I could’ve packed up and taken with me after spending a decade in Brevard County, Charlie & Jake’s definitely would’ve been it. Extremely reasonable prices(I recall the days in the late 90s when the BBQ Sandwich/Fries/Tea lunch special was only $ 4, not sure if it’s gone up any since then, but would still definitely be worth it), and I never had anything on the menu I didn’t like. Definitely recommend. The sauces and meats were great.

Really really good bbq. Ribs were great, fell off the bone. Other meats had a lot of flavor and almost didn’t even need the sauces. Also enjoyed the sweet tea and hushpuppies. Vinegar slaw was floating in vinegar… that’s probably how it’s supposed to be but it was a little too strong. Definitely recommend.

From the moment we sat down I was excited about this place. We came around noon before the crowd hit. Our server Abby was welcoming and on point. We never went thirsty. My husband and I both had pulled pork which was excellent. All three sauces were delish. Mac n cheese and okra were all great. My husbands black eyed peas had pulled pork in them — not sure if it was intentional or not– but not a deal breaker. Sweet tea was super sweet, just the way we like it. Definitely wish this place was back home!

Oh my how I miss Charlie and Jake’s. When I lived in the area, it was a weekly stop in my schedule. Now I only dream about visiting again and enjoying the delicious food. It is a great, casual place with satisfying food. If you like bar-b-que, it is a MUST!

Eau Gallie Blvd in Indiatlantic all of a sudden surprised me with 3 ribs places all within steps of each other. I had to choose one, and try it. I chose Charlie & Jake’s purely based on reviews. When I got there I noticed the rib place right next door, looks like a nicer place to drink, but I stuck to my guns and went to Charlie & Jake’s which pretty much looked like it was formerly a Taco Bell. There was a good crowd in here, maybe about 30 percent full. I noticed a good presence of law enforcement in here too, but we’re all here for the ribs. I was greeted and sat by one of the 2 young friendly waitresses, Stephanie. Funny thing is that the time between me ordering and getting my food was probably less than a minute. Fastest food turnaround I’ve experienced. -=-Ribs-=- These were good, but I’ve already been spoiled by the best. The baby back ribs fell off the bone as promised and it was tender as well. There were a couple BBQ sauces to choose from and you can dump as much of it as you want since they had large jars at every table. I love it when ribs places do that. I tend to like the more peppery spicy sauces, but here I ended up liking the traditional more. I dumped extra sauce on every bite. A half rack combo was more than enough to fill me up and I was thankful to not have leftovers that I’d inevitably waste since my hotel didn’t have a fridge. I would have to try the other ribs places here to know if this was the best, but my stomach would probably rebel against me by the end of the trip.
