Not real sure when 54th turned into the«New» Red Lobster. If you enjoy loud single black moms griping about food where there is no issue, drinking 4 cocktails when having to drive a child home and their gold tooph shinin light in your eye… well then come on down to good old 54th. Dont know what is worse, Cheddars or here. ugg

Good service, quick, cheap. Best french dip I’ve had around here. I recommend at least trying it, go out of the realm of the applebees and chilis

We dropped in for a pregame snack. Our waitress Amber was the she was cheerful and helpful in describing several items on the menu, it happened to be happy hour, which meant yummy food cost less. We got the buffalo wings which were meaty and juicy, the spinach artichoke dip w/pico which was delish, and a summer spring salad which was grilled chicken, spring mix, red onions, Carmelized pecans and zingy balsamic vinaigrette. It’s was wonderful, the home crafted strawberry lemonade was divine and the refills kept on coming! Amber was sweet and gracious. Wonderful visit and we will be back for a full on dinner affront!

After enjoying the location in Zona Rosa numerous times, we tried this location. After an hour of waiting, our food finally came out… incorrectly.(2⁄3 orders were wrong). The staff seems careless about open tables remaining open for 20+ minutes with a 20 – 25 minute wait in progress. With the choices of good food in the KC area; we WONT be back here.

We ended up making our first trip to 54th street grill today and I’m super glad we did. The food was awesome and the menu went on forever with a vast variety of choices for everyone. The sandwich was gigantic and extremely tasty. Super glad we split an entrée and it was so awesome that the waitress mentioned we could do that. Each half came out on it’s own plate along with sides. What an amazing experience. The mini cheesecake desert was fantastic and the only thing better than the food was the service. GOHERE, they are excellent in every way we will definitely be coming back. Lena was a FANTASTIC waitress!

Good service and a decent beer selection for the type of restaurant. However, I ordered a Cajun burger and it was very burnt. Also my salad was drowning in dressing. Good flavors, though. It’s too bad the cooks just couldn’t handle the volume at the restaurant.

This place is on my do not list from now on. Understaffed, empty booths. I was so mad. They sat us and the seat of the booth had green beans or something gross all over it. I stood there and no one ever came to ask us if we were ok. Done with this place. Walked out. They need more of this to get there attention and clean up there act.

This is the best 54th St. Avoid Lee’s Summit location at all costs. Independence has the best service and food/drinks hands down. 5 Stars!

Stop by this place with my wife because we were staying at a hotel next door. Asked to sit at the bar and was placed at a high top table. Yes that’s in the bar area, but not at the bar. Strike 1. Out waiters came by and introduced herself, Amber Y is what the bill said because she didn’t tell us her name. Strike 2. After ordering and receiving our appetizer we didn’t see her for another 20 mins. Granted that wouldn’t have been a big deal, but I needed to get a star for her… Dinner… We ordered the dinner for two. I had the pulled pork. If I tell you that was the most flavorless pulled pork I’ve ever had in my life, would be an understatement. The bar b q sauce didn’t help it at all. Strike 3! Now what really perturbed me was that she was super friendly to the other 2 tables she had, didn’t have the time of day for me and my wife. As I hate to stereotype, I find it odd that she couldn’t look at me once while we were here. I am a black male and my wife is Caucasian. Now the other tables were Caucasian males and females. She was all Honkie Dorie with them, but for me and my wife, she wouldn’t have spit on us if we were on fire. Really what year are we in??? Will never come back. Will recommend to all of my Military friends and family to never visit or give this establishment any of their money!

It’s like Applebee’s, Chili’s, Ruby’s, Friday’s, Tex Mex Chain, et al had a baby and the baby was bit bigger, fatter, drunker and a little pricier than previous babies. This baby isn’t as stinky as most babies and it has enough on its plate that you can be sure to find something that won’t make you vomit.

54th Street is consistently good. We’ve been dining at 54 for a few years now, and have visited several of their locations across the metro, and I can’t recall ever having a bad experience or bad food. They’re usually busy for dinner and you might have to wait a while(20−30min) for a table, and on at least two occasions we’ve had slow service due to how busy they’ve been. Our last visit was a busy night, and the server disappeared on us for a bit, but some one else came around and took care of our order. The setting is similar to most casual dining restaurants, as far as ambiance(very laid back and slightly loud) and layout. They have purposefully tacky décor, overloaded with vintage signs, posters, and memorabilia. They offer a very varied menu, with a large variety of burgers, and sandwiches, they also offer steaks, pastas, salads and one-offs like their tacos and the gyro. I’ve always enjoyed their food, I’ve only tried their burgers, and sandwiches and have liked all of them so far. I wasn’t impressed by their dessert offerings though, and after trying their chocolate cake once have opted to skip dessert on my subsequent visits.

I swear 2015 must be the year of the chains for me. I’ve eaten at this location twice now as well as both Zona Rosa and Gladstone once each. I’d say Indep is my favorite out of the select ones I’ve tried. My last visit a week ago really enforced it. I unfortunately did not catch my servers name and I’ll blame it on the strawberry long islands which is something I also hardly ever order, do I have a fever? He was a middle aged Latino male on the patio. He was AMAZING and even my date agreed. He really went the extra step to give recommendations on beers and drinks, gave us ample time to decide on menus when we went in indecisive but not enough to feel forgotten, make small talk naturally without having to try, and was quick with the check. 54th is one of those solid chains where you can do practically anything. Watch the game, take advantage of a good lunch special, enjoy a meal on the patio, hit the drinks with coworkers, or take grandma. Favorite things of mine include the four play appetizer(which consists of waffle fries, buffalo wings, chicken quesadilla, and your choice of Wisconsin cheese bites or mozzie sticks served with that GRINGODIP!), southwest tortilla wrap, and their burgers. Universally I’ve noticed that drinks always arrive pretty slow across the board. This would be my one gripe.

Got here and was surprised that they weren’t too terribly busy for a Saturday and our wait to be seated was less than 6 minutes, and Lord knows I love a short wait time. Once we were seated, we were quickly greeted by Zach our waiter and he took our drink order and quickly got it to us, I have to say it was actually nice to not be asked about buying alcohol… don’t get me wrong I usually drink, but if I want it I’ll ask for it We haven’t been here in a while and do it took a bit to peruse the menu but I settled on the Cowboy Steak philly sandwich… wait time till I it came out I wasn’t timing it, but I would say it was reasonable. He brings it to the table… dang…it was big and the the perfect mixture of pico De gallo, steak, cheese, onions and abso… freaking…lutely delicious, and Zach was extremely attentive, and not the kind that I’m begging for a bigger tip bit genuine nice attentive The restaurant very clean, from what I Observed… oh and let me add one more thing very reasonable for 2 drinks and 2 meals 33.00…I will be back and I hope to get Zach as a waiter again

After a few visits here, I will say it’s a decent spot. Most recently, my wife, mother-in-law and I sat in the bar area to catch the fourth quarter and OT of NFC playoff game and get some dinner. Our server was friendly, efficient, and kept their sodas filled. Food came out quickly. My wife and mother-in-law both had salads which were huge and, I heard, quite tasty. I got a sirloin with baked potato and«garlic bread» — the steak was about what I expected for the low price, in that it was fine but not great. It was cooked quite well, however. The baked potato was fine. The garlic bread, which was really just a strip of bread with garlic butter on it, was not pleasant. The drinks menu is pretty good. I had a couple of tasty Stone Pale ales. The price for all was something like $ 55 which isn’t bad at all.

We were all prepared for Monday Night Football to watch my husbands favorite team(*whispers* The Giants). All We had to do was call up 54th Street and order the wings, even adding a special request for me(more celery sticks). Our daughter had a grilled cheese, pretty basic right? Well it came with fries, a drink, a cookie and I think something else.(Impressive) We placed our order 25 minutes until kickoff and made it back in time! We went to pick it up. Just so impressed with the time. Oh, and it’s such a good feeling when you get home and take all of the food out of the bag and realize everything is done right. Our order was perfect! We will definitely return to this location. Passing others to get to it if need be. Thank you for the astounding service :)

I really needed to bump these guys up a star. They consistently serve good food, even to go. It’s kind of our go-to place when we don’t want to cook and nothing else sounds good. They have such a variety it can satisfy pretty much any mood. Most of their sandwiches are really good. Stay away from the pork tenderloin as it’s that processed meat patty cr@p most chains use. You’re pretty safe with everything else. The boneless buffalo wings are pretty good for boneless ones and you get more than you can eat alone. The Cowboy Steak sandwich is pretty much my favorite here. It’s like a cross between a Philly Cheesesteak and an Italian Hot Beef, plus jalapenos. Awesome! Keep up the good work here!
