Tom Nail & Tan

Tom nail has always been my go to place, but the last few times I feel like service has gone way down. I got a fill on Wednesday, I was surprised that Tom only used the pink to go along the new growth area as opposed to down the entire length of the nail as usual. So today Friday the same week my pinky nail broke completely off as I was putting my shirt on… did I mention he used the dremel on the entire length of all my nails when I went to get that fill on Wednesday? So my nails were thinner coming out than when I went in, and he only applied the shiny coat to the entire length… My work industry requires I have thick nails which is why I specify what I want. But he told me no it’s not necessary… Ummm, they’re my nails I know what I need. And so today when I went to get that nail fixed he refused to thicken them, unless I wanted to pay an additional $ 35 not the $ 10 I was told it would be over the phone. That’s the price of a whole new set.
And the nail he fixed doesn’t even match the rest, I was literally in tears. I can’t believe how careless they’ve become. I’ve been a faithful customer for 9 years.
But the last few months there’s been a few issues and they don’t care. When a customer is in tears and choked up, obviously something is wrong. I MISS the way they were. And it’s not as clean anymore either. Total bummer. Guess it’s time to find new place.

Fastest gel nails of my life. They got chipped the next day but remained fairly intact a month later. Tom himself did them, and he is quite a charming character.
Okay, so I got a new job n gels are a no-​no. The chick then attempted to scrape them off! I requeted that she use acetone, as my nails were peeling, breaking, and my fingers even bled at one point. «I don’t like to use acetone because it can affect your skin if you’re senstive.»
Grrrrr. «I’ve never had acetone bother me.» Except, of course, when its used over an open wound.

My hubs bought me a gift cert to get a mani/​pedi. I was not impressed. My nail polish peeled after a day and the toes within a week. I could understand if I’m the dishwasher in the house, but I’m not. They advertise cheap but if you want a decent mani/​pedi then you will have to shell out the cash. And he thought since it says nail & tan that they have tanning beds but they do not… they should probably advertise that there are no tanning beds.

I had to wait over 20 minutes although the salon said they were open when I called prior to leaving. Prices are average, service was average when they got to me but nothing wonderful. They didn’t have a variety of colors and there was certainly nothing new. The owner’s kids were all over the store as well.

After reading stellar reviews on Tom Nail, my mom, sister and I went to check it out. Overall, the service was very friendly, and they did pay a lot of attention to detail. I am concerned about the sanitation of the salon, however. They just had the tools in a plastic box, with no evidence that they had been cleaned. This bothered me because I called before I came in to ask if they had the tools in those plastic packages that they rip open to show they had been sanitized, and they said yes. When I mentioned this, they came out of the back with the tools in the plastic packages, but they didn’t even rip them open, they were just able to dump them out! Which to me means they took the unclean tools and stuck them in the package to trick me.
Couple other beefs: Very little color selection, and it is clear a lot of the polishes had been diluted to make them last longer. They also advertise on their window «$ 19.99 pedicures» which aren’t on their «menu,» you have to specially request it (which means no sugar scrub, etc.) Somewhat deceitful.
They do a great callus removal, and my nails look good — but I still won’t be back.

I waited a looong time before going anywhere to get my nails done beacause I wanted to make sure I wouldn’t get overcharged or a bad nail job. Im glad I waited until i found the right place. I went in and got gel nails. The girl that attended to me was very friendly and attentive to detail. She took her time and did a great job. The whole experience was very relaxing, I will be a regular customer here.

Very disappointed. Salt scrub was brutal leaving cuts on my feet and legs. Nail tech unable/​unfamiliar of how to trim/​file a straight line with rounded/​smooth edges. Left after being burned, scratched and cut.

Went here with my niece a week ago for a «back to school» mani/​pedi and we had a great experience. The customer service was wonderful! The man who did my niece’s mani/​pedi made her feel very special (she’s 8) and was very good with her, he even surprised her at the end of her pedicure by doing designs on her big toes (and, no, he didn’t charge me for it). My sister and I were given seats next to my niece’s chair and offered drinks a couple of times. Her nails looked great and have held up well. The salon is nothing fancy as far as décor goes, but it was very clean, and that’s way more important to me. Can’t say enough good things about Tom’s, this will be my new go-​to nail salon!

Got a pedi here today and it was a good experience. I had the callus package pedi for $ 35 and it was so worth it! he scrubbed all the dead skin off and I even got the wax to dip my feet in. Makes my feet so smooth! I intended to get just the delux pedi when I came in but saw the package for just $ 7 more I had to get it. Prices are reasonable and affordable! about $ 28 for a normal pedi. They are very nice and they dont talk about you while you’re there. Trust me, I’m Viet myself and I understand Vietnamese. I paid close attention.
I’m definitely coming back!

Probably the best pedicure I’ve ever had. Or at least that I can remember. Everyone working there is very nice and thankful for your business — which is always a nice feeling to a customer. Can’t wait to go back!

Hands down. BEST NAIL SALON IN DFW. I’ve had a few friends be skeptical about coming just due to the it being in an older shopping center, and on a busy corner. After leaving everyone’s a fan. Tom & His wife have been like family for the past 10 years. Great service & Great product! :)

My friend and I had made an appointment to get pedicures. I don’t think making an appointment helps much, for we had to wait until 20 minutes after the time of appointment to be seated.
The nail color selection was a bit limited as well. My friend wanted chocolate brown and they did not have anything near that color.
Now with those glitches out of the way, the service was good. We got deluxe pedicures ($ 28/​person) and the foot massages were relaxing and our toe nails looked great.
They were pretty busy (granted it may be because it was Saturday) and had to ask some people to come back in an hour or hour and a half (better than having them just wait).
Overall, it was a good experience and if I’m ever in the area again, I would go back there.

I’ve been coming here for about 7 years now and they do the best acryllic nails! I’ve never had a problem with breakage or with nails lifting from the base, and they are very reasonably priced. I think there has only been one price increase in the time that I’ve been going there. They always remember me (or pretend to, anyways!) even if I go a year without going in there (which has happened a time or two).

I have been coming here for years. So do the rest of the ladies in my family. The staff is extremely nice, and they do a great job! Prices are reasonable, a lot lower than other Salons. Anytime I’m in the area, I stop by here… We are regulars, and they always refer to us as «baby» or «sexy»…it’s a unique and different touch. One of a kind nail designs! Five star service!
