Two Maids & A Mop

There are several home cleaning services in the Huntsville area, and we think it’s important to have a business that is licensed, bonded, and insured. We started with these guys (actually, they’re all female) about a year ago, and asked them to come in once a month to clean a moderately large house that did not require a lot of effort.
Things started off great; they would show up about 9 AM with 2 — 3 people, stay for 2 — 3 hours, and would do a bit extra, e.g. refrigerator or stove (and charge us a bit extra) when we asked for it. After about 3 — 4 months, though, the time commitment and the quality of the work went down. They started arriving closer to 11 and leaving closer to noon, would frequently forget to empty bathroom and/​or bedroom wastebins, do an incomplete job on a bathroom shower, and frequently leave footprints on the hardwood floor.
We gave gentle negative feedback 2 — 3 times over the course of a year; each time, the owner apologized, and promised to either do better the next time, or come out and redo things. However, things never really improved. Our most recent experience was awful; we returned from a vacation a day after they cleaned, and discovered that the hardwood floor looked worse than when we left, with dirt and stains that were painfully obvious, and bedrooms and bathrooms that were halfway done.
Their website says, «Just because we clean your toilets doesn’t mean we can’t look, talk, act and clean like a professional!» That statement has some truth to it because our toilets have not been especially clean. On a positive note, nothing was ever broken or stolen, and they returned our key promptly. That’s a pretty low bar for a cleaning service but it’s why I gave them two stars rather than one.
