This review is for Tamara who works at one of the makeup counters in the store.
I was having my wedding in Huntsville, but live out of town. I met Tamara at the store and told her that I was interested in a trial makeup session for my wedding.
I first made sure she was available on my wedding day and that she could come to the wedding venue. She said yes to both, so I had scheduled a trial makeup session with her before I left town again. She later texted me saying she couldn’t make it at our scheduled time, and we were unable to find a time that worked to reschedule during that visit to Huntsville.
I had one more visit to town before the wedding and the only time we could work was 30 minutes before the store opened. I specifically made sure that the store would allow that and she confirmed that it was fine. So a few days before our appointment, I texted her to confirm. She replied saying that the store didn’t allow us to come before it opened. Um, she had already told me that they did allow it, and later she didn’t even notify me that they didn’t allow it! What if I hadn’t sent that follow up text? My time during that visit to town was booked with all sorts of other wedding stuff. I tried to work something out… the few times I had free, she couldn’t make it. She was not at all trying to work with me or apologetic. She must have known that what she did was wrong because she gave me a nasty attitude instead & was completely rude! This was the last thing I needed two weeks before the wedding! That was completely unacceptable and unprofessional!
Stay away from Tamara at the makeup counter if you want reliable service!

I have shopped at Belk for many, many years. It was ALWAYS one of my favorite stores. The love affair is over!
Last month a family member knew how much I loved that store and gave me a 100.00 Belk gift card. I went the next week and purchased about $ 40.00 worth of items.
I returned today, not really needing anything, but I heard they had a summer clearance sale going on. So, I grabbed my remaining $ 60.00 Belk gift card, my Belk credit card and the $ 10.00 Rewards Belk Certificate in which they sent to me through the mail, and headed out.
I walked the store over (about 2 hours) and finally decided what I was carrying in my arms was enough. The cashier scanned all the items. It came to over $ 200.00. He asked if I had any coupons. I told him about the $ 10.00 Rewards Certificate, Belk gift card and I would pay the remaining on my Belk credit card.
Uh, no! He said I could not use the Rewards Certificate AND the Belk gift card at the same time. It ALL had to be on the Belk credit card. I told him the Belk gift card IS NOT a coupon but actual «money» as it IS a paid gift card. He lost a sale totaling over $ 200.00 because of a TEN DOLLAR Rewards Certificate that BELK sent to ME!
That refusal only told me that Belk rips their customers off thinking they are getting a Rewards Certificate, but in reality, they are thinking about the interest they will be getting on their credit card. In reality, the customer SAVES NOTHING! A Belk GIFT CARD does NOT draw interest, therefore the refusal.
BELK STINKS! I will give the remaining $ 60.00 gift card to a friend, as my love affair with Belk IS OVER!

Belk has SALES! The staff is quick to presell for upcoming sales. This means that Belk will hold your merchandise and ring it the day of the sale at the discounted price. Then you can pick it up at your convenience. So what is the catch? You have to wait in line at the office to pick up your presell items. It doesn’t sound bad until you wait for an hour plus to pick up your merchandise. They are understaffed and the staff they have to help you are looking for LOST presell items. You would think I would learn but I decided that I could wait 5 days and the rush would be over. Not at all. I was first in line for an hour. And again two ladies were looking for lost presell items. The third left for lunch. Belk offered no apologies and they continue this failed system. BEWARE of your time. Belk offers no apologies!

Wide selection of shoes here (!), and definitely more than the department store on the other side of town.
