I really wanted to like it here… Cute place with seating and reminds me of coffee spots in manhattan. Friendly staff and good looking menu board. Tried their maple latte which was quite good altho a bit sweet but i love maple and loved it. Ordered the #1 bfast sandwich and was totally disappointed when i got home and ate it… #1 bacon & cheddar, arugula, tomato butter and pickled onions: this was all on bread that looked like ciabatta but was like tasteless air… nice sized sandwich considering its $ 7 but really had no taste at all… very very bland and couldnt even taste the bacon. I could see it but didnt taste it which is surprising considering bacon is very flavorful. I’ll be going back here for the maple latte but i’ll pass on the sandwiches…

Had a cappuccino. They have a quality operation going on in there. My coffee was unusually fruity, if that’s even a thing. Very distinct taste for sure… fruit is what came to mind. More of a take out feel.

This place is a real find. Delicious coffee choices, especially the decaf which is probably the most amazing I have ever had, and I drink a TON of decaf. In addition, I am sure the pastries and sandwiches I saw people eating are also fantastic, as they looked it and the people eating them looked very satisfied.

Every great village needs a great coffee shop. I’m not talking DD or Starbucks. I mean a REAL, SOLID, CRAFT coffee shop. I thought«Ideal Wine and Cheese Café» was decent and had found a home right on Main street. Unfortunately I don’t think they’re $ 15 appetizers and $ 25+ entrees really took off, and now they are closed. BUT with every closed door comes a great opportunity — and Southdown stepped up. Craft coffee, brewed a variety of ways to really bring out the flavor. You can tell they are pretty passionate about each cup they brew. Great espresso and a very chill environment in an unexpected little strip. A little further away from main street than I would like, BUT there is plenty of parking. Will probably stop in every time I’m in the area! Great job guys, keep it up!

Exactly what LI needs more of — independently-owned coffee shops that care about their product and their customers! This place has it all: a cute atmosphere, amazing offerings, friendly staff and customer service. The ONLY«negative» I have is that although their straws are sleek looking, they’re un-wrapped…and that freaks out a germaphobe like me.

If you’re looking to dine in, it’s a bit on the smallish side.(I think there’s only room for a dozen people.) But the coffee, pastries and service are really good. 10,000 times better than a Starbucks.

This place is a great addition to the Huntington scene in Long Island. Great espresso and atmosphere! Friendly staff, highly recommend! I heard the egg sandwich is amazing and therefore next time I’m around I will definitely be trying it!

Coffee was acidic and bitter. Tasted like it was sitting in a pot for 2 hours. Couldn’t finish the cup. Stella Blue, Blondies and even Starbucks are far better.

Strong coffee. Very pricy though. Food is decent. Hit or miss. Goat cheese was sour in taste. Have not had the lattes yet. Customer service is good. Sometimes they randomly are closed. No phone number either

Big shout out to Chelsea the manager of Southdown coffee! I was in this lovely store late on a Saturday afternoon in September because, in full disclosure, my twins needed to use the restroom. She could not have been lovelier about the situation especially since we were not customers. Not only was Chelsea warm and welcoming, chatting with me the entire time, she sent us on our way with a bag full of complimentary pastries!!! They were absolutely amazing! Muffins, scones… all fantastic. I look forward to coming to Southdown coffee next time I am on the Island not only for the fantastic products but for the warm & genuine staff that truly stood out to make this a 5 star experience!

It’s nice to be able to go to a place that has REAL coffee and espresso!!! I’ve been searching for that one place on Long Island and I would have to say, this place is one of the best that I’ve tasted. Stop by and try REAL coffee for a change. You won’t regret it

We were house hunting in Huntington and discovered this great local coffee house. The owner has roots from Caffe Vita and Pulley Collective. They roast their own beans and make great espresso. If you’re feeling a little indulgent I recommend the maple latte. It’s excellent as a hot drink. Their egg sandwiches are also quite popular. And the staff were all nice and friendly.

Decent coffee, better than Starbucks, duh! Like someone had to tell you that, you already know Starbucks is highly overrated. So why would you keep going back to that shitty coffee every time? Because good coffee shops in Long Island are like an oasis in a desert, they are hard to find. Alright, sorry about that rant. The coffee here is alright I guess, friendly staff. The ambiance isn’t anything to remember. Just a few tables and a couch I guess. Definitely not a cozy little coffee shop but you get latte art to go with your coffee.

Southdown is a true gem of a jawn. Breakfast sandwich game is strong with the #1 but the #2 also could have been a winner. I wonder tho if they’d allow you to add bacon to it. Cortado was crush worthy, and even I was almost tempted to order the maple latte. I was expecting a larger bean selection, and was hoping to take a bag home, but I didn’t fancy either of the two that were available. Besides the awesome breakie sandwich, and cortado, what I enjoyed the most about my experience here was the level of hospitality. As regulars came and went, they were greeted by name, small conversations were made, are you having your usual was said. It reminded me of my local jawns. If this was in my neck of the woods, or if this area ever became my neck of the woods, Southdown would totally be my go to place.

Comparable to the better coffeeshops in NYC(i.e. Blue Bottle, Gorilla, Stumptown, Kaffe 1668, …). I had a V60 Brazilian, and was very pleased with the quality of the beans and how they were roasted!!! The owner was very friendly as well. I think I found my hidden gem of Long Island!

By far the most unique take on a breakfast sandwich I’ve ever experienced. All five basic tastes are covered by the stacked components of this sandwich; the sweetness of the tomato jam, the saltiness of the bacon, the sourness of the pickled onions, the bitterness of the arugula, and the savory sensation of the fried eggs and cheese — everything dances around your mouth in perfect harmony. Excellent coffee as well — hard-to-find beans, and coffees are developed in various ways(chemex, drip, espresso, etc) so there’s something here for all preferences. I’m in love and will make this a staple weekend visit. Well deserved of its current prefect rating.

Yeah another great coffee shop in Huntington!!! Tried the cortado not easy to find on LI, and it was really good! Friendly service and a comfortable atmosphere. Its a little north of Main St, worth it to find it. They have a lot to park in. Maybe the days of average coffee are finally coming to an end!!! Hope so, its about time.
