I’ve eaten here previously and thought it was great. However, the quality definitely went down. I really disliked the calamari, very dry and way too chewy. Can find calamari elsewhere made better. We also had the shawarma, which was just ok, kind of flavorless. The stroganoff was the best, but could’ve used more meat and less mushrooms. I would order it again. The beers we ordered were ok, our waitress wasn’t really eager to help us find a beer that we loved, so we settled. This place is a little over priced for what it is. It’s not horrible, but definitely not my first choice to come back to in Huntington. A lot of better options in the area.

Stopped by for lunch today great food and craft beer. Very small place but wasn’t busy so it was comfortable. Highly recommend the mac and cheese.

Sapsuckers seems to have jumped the shark for me. I’ve been a long-time fan but won’t be going back. The place was nearly empty on Father’s Day and that was surprising to me. I’m a pain in –ss beer guy, so this place should be used to people like me. Yes I tried a beer, ordered it and then thought it tasted vinegary. I hardly ever send a beer back but after a sip I asked if I could switch it. The waitress made a comment that I tried the beer and was surprised I was sending it back, but I let that slide. I ordered chicken and waffles and though the flavor was good, the chicken was rubbery. The kids meals were good however the catfish portion was small. Maybe they were having an off night but the waitress has been there for many years. When the bill came out both the beer I sent back and the new beer were on there. I asked the waitress if she could remove the first beer and she said that normally they don’t credit expensive beers(it was a draught beer, really?) and she would give me a one time exclusion. She need not worry, I’m NOT coming back.

Decent food and beer. Bartenders could be a little more attentive. Seemed like a place where regulars hang out and they receive the best service. With all the other bar/restaurant offerings in The village I wouldn’t say this is a «can’t miss» spot. Would stop in again for just a drink.

So I have to say, the food wasn’t bad. I’ll just got through a breakdown of what we ordered, and how I felt about it. Poutine(3⁄5) — salty, cheesy, would taste a million times better after a few beers. The gravy is a bit«too much» and there isn’t enough cheese. Cajun Codfish Tacos(1⁄5) — miserable. They lacked taste, and lacked enough fish. The radish salad just didn’t mesh well with it. Also the bean salad didn’t either? I wouldn’t recommend. Chicken Shwarma(4⁄5) — excellent! The only thing I didn’t like was it was served open faced on the pita rather than stuffed. The fries are well seasoned, the chicken was well seasoned, the Israeli salad was heavenly. Tl;dr: Service was eh, they didn’t pay much attention to us. Bit of a bum. Overall, it was pleasant and I will return, but I’d never order the fish tacos again.

Been here twice now and both times were delicious. For the chief burger this time as a recommendation from our waitress and it was amazing. I’d you love big macs this is your burger. The meat patties ate smashed thin and it is loaded with a take on the big Mac sauce. Definitely recommend. Also had poutine style fries for a side. They were good but I next time I’ll go regular instead.

Great beer list, nice bar and good service. I gave it 4 stars because of the overall experience, not just the food. We thought the appetizers were much better than entrees. Pirogues were very good. You can definitely tell that they’re home made, dough and filling. They come with sautéed onions on top, which makes them even better and they get the outside a little crisp. Ribs were good, a lot of seasoning, good taste. Not the best I’ve had but I was defiantly satisfied. Sandwiches were good, nothing special. I got the Cubano which didn’t have much flavor and the ciabatta was oily from when they pressed it. The waitress told me how good it was and that its spicy because of the mustard. I couldn’t even taste the mustard. The Shwarma was better than the Cuban, but again nothing special. We got spinach on the side because we didn’t fries and the portion was pretty small as you can see. I like the Stiegal Pilsner, nice and light. Overall, good bar spot with a good atmosphere to grab some appetizers.

I have eaten here on 5 or 6 occasions and I really want to love it, the people are so friendly and the menu looks great, but I don’t believe the kitchen is up to scratch. The food is generally poorly seasoned, inconsistent in quality and feels like the staff in the back of house, got a crash course on the menu and dont necessarily know the ins and outs of restaurant cooking. I will say the beer selection is great and the sapsucker suds was particularly good.

There is nothing like a restaurant that has hours posted on Unilocal, their website and even their front door for 10PM closing, but is pitch black with bar stools upside down before7PM. I’m most frustrated because I was given the task of surprising my boyfriend for a birthday dinner with a new place we’ve never been before. I narrowed it down to four places on all of long island, and Sapsuckers happened to be one of them. Unfortunately, I don’t live in or near Huntington and I was talking this place up like«yea, the reviews are awesome!!» Two other places of the four I picked were also in Huntington, and they were all closed before 7PM. Sapsuckers was the third and final stop. Do you know what it feels like to be so excited to surprise someone, for them to look disappointed that nothing was open but a pizza place? It is a really sucky feeling. We pull onto Main Street and there are drunk people in green every where. Running around or at my car. It was their St. Patrick’s day celebration. I didn’t even get to the inside part of the«restaurant/pub» and I’m already extremely disappointed.

For dinner, I had the blackened catfish with salsa fresca, roasted potatoes, and green beans. I appreciate when restaurants offer healthy fare as I am a health-conscious foodie and can only eat so many salads. The salsa fresca was on point! It tasted incredibly fresh and was very flavorful. The rest of the entrée left a bit to be desired. The fish, potatoes, and green beans were lacking in flavor and I sprinkled quite a bit of salt on the potatoes just to give them something. The service was excellent. I couldn’t believe how fast our food came. I was also impressed with how quickly the waitresses turned tables around. I’m not sure whether or not I’d go back as there are so many options in Huntington. However, if you are looking for a gastropub with somewhat healthier options, I would recommend Sapsuckers.

Stopped on for dinner with my son(father son bonding, he calls it). As usual, he ordered the pretzel appetizer. A little bready, but tasty with nostril clearing mustard. He had the pulled pork sandwich and I went for the Mallet burger. Both were great. Sat at the bar. Great time. Love coming here and recommend it strongly

Pretty darn good sandwiches are burgers. I’m kind of tame when it comes to burgers/‘wiches, so the fancy stuff is wasted on me, admittedly, but if gourmet sandwiches are your thing this place looks fantastic. Tables look kind of crowded down the narrow strip adjacent to the bar, but I’ve come here with my family and another family(4 adults, 4 kids) and they managed to seat us without feeling crowded.

My fiancé and I decided to try something new on our off day. Decided to make the trip to Huntington and try Sapsuckers. All I can say is that the entire experience was fantastic. The beer and food was delicious! Not to mention the quick and phenomenal service by the staff. I highly recommend Sapsuckers! Try the Alabama Sloppy Hammer! So good!

I should start by saying I really like this place: Pros: Staff is really pleasant and attentive. They are happy to let you sample and beer before you order it. The beer list is extensive and they always have a tap or two that I haven’t tried before. The menu is a glorified list of drunk food. Concept-wise this is my ideal joint. Cons: as much as I enjoy everything else that is going on here, bottom line is it is over-priced. The food is all decent, really nothing to write about and everything is more expensive than it should be. Had dinner last night and ended up paying $ 75 all said and done for 2 burgers and 3 beers. Nothing feels right about an $ 18 burger especially when it’s only OK.

Ok so the service is great, the food is AMAZING… I’ve had nearly everything on the menu. The veggie burger is my favorite and I’m not even a vegetarian. It’s incredible. Great beer selection, bartenders knowledgable. But for the love of God– whoever that man is I don’t know if it’s the manager or owner but PLEASE stop walking back and forth. I get it if you’re busy you need someone on the floor. But we were here when it was practically empty and all he does is walk back and forth. Just stop. He makes me so nervous. I can barely enjoy my food because he’s just walking past me constantly. Other than the speed man– this would have gotten 5 stars.

Five stars for the tap list that is far better than most. Thoughtfully curated. That sounds pretentious, but really, it’s fitting. I’m seeing too many«gastropubs» where the«local craft beer» is Blue Point. Blue Point is okay, but craft beer has a lot to offer, and Sapsuckers gets it. I’ve been waiting to review SS b/c I haven’t been for dinner, but I think I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve been anywhere for dinner in the past half-year, other than my dining room table. Hey, in that way, kids actually *save* you money. But for lunch, the food is excellent & worth the visit. I’m sure dinner is the same. Look — I like to eat, and try places, but my wife & I keep coming back to Sapsuckers — it’s a favorite. Final tip — be advised — SS is in central Huntington Village, so give yourself some time to find parking. If you’re willing to walk a few blocks, you should be fine.

When my friends came to visit from England, we had a good time at this place. We went in the late afternoon, before the busy night rush when it’s hard to find a seat. We were sitting at the bar having sodas when the chef offered my friends a free taste of the meal he just made that was the special of the day. Great customer service, they make you feel welcomed. Warm, friendly atmosphere.

I had lunch here on Sunday. I thought there would be more of a brunch menu, but it was mostly lunch items. I had fish and chips and my husband had a burger. The prices are exorbitant, especially for Long Island and considering these were small portioned, basic dishes. Service was great, however, I wouldn’t return.

We keep coming here as we are never disappointed. We started with Jamaican patties with Spanish rice — not as spicy as advertised but very good. Shrimp Po-Boy and blackened catfish graced our table tonight as our main dish. Yummy. The beer is always amazing. We had a variety of micro brews that were extremely unique. Delicious. No need to go on. Come eat, drink and enjoy. Life is too short otherwise.

Friendly knowledgable bartenders and excellent service. The crowd on a Friday was nice and controlled. We ordered the nacho with chili and it was honestly a very good nacho dish. We recently had a bad nacho experience and wanted another fix and this place did it for us with the awesome beer selection to pair with the food.

This was good, but I think our expectations may have been too high thanks to most of these reviews. First of all — the wait. We had a group of 4, and called when we were looking for parking. They said it would be a 15 minute wait, but they don’t do call ahead seating, so I hopped out of the car, raced in, and put my name on the list. 35 minutes later, we were finally seated. When we actually sat down, our server was excellent, the beers were great, and the Mac & Cheese was delicious — definitely better than all of our entrees. I got the Sloppy Hammer, which, kind of comedically, wasn’t sloppy at all. My friend got the Shawarma, which he thought was fine. His fiancé and my wife both got burgers, and neither of them were blown away. Overall, this is a good restaurant, but in my opinion, it’s not worth waiting for.

Kris and I spent quite a bit of time in Huntington back in October — usually we’re in the city when we visit LI — and this was a regular spot that spilled back over into this summer. What a great place. Good music, cool space, great staff, excellent food and a phenomenal selection of beer! Whether seated at the bar or tables you’re sure to get prompt, great service. There is a seating area in the back but we’ve yet to sit there — we stay in the bar. I love a place where people who serve beer actually know beer and Sapsuckers fits the bill. I wanted to try something new and explained what I like and the waitress got it. Unlike the time I was at another place in the Midwest and said, «I don’t like malty beers… I like hops. Hops at the start, hops throughout, hops at the finish,» and the server said, «You should definitely stay away from IPAs.» Good grief. I’ve had smaller bites here and also a burger and other big meals — all are fresh and fantastic. The location is also great for people watching. Like the couple who came in and had their own special gluten-free bread and kept demanding that the kitchen use it to serve their food. That was a trip. Best beer bar in Huntington!

I’ve only been to Sapsuckers for beer and have never tried their food; one day. I always enjoy myself when I come in here, the bar is fairly small, if there’s no room, you might be able to grab a seat at one of the high top tables behind in the bar in front of the large wall mirror. The dining area is very small too. Their beer selection is really just superb. If I want a really good craft beer I’m coming here, no doubt. Their bartenders are so friendly and really knowledgable about their selections. They even had a really good non-alcoholic beer that actually tasted like beer. The atmosphere is nice, simple, laid-back. It’s casual for the most part. Definitely worth a stop in whenever in the area.

I think I just found my new favorite gastropub. This place is awesome. Huge beer list with some awesome local brews, a delicious creative menu and great service means we will be back. We started with the homemade pierogies, which were phenomenal. Cooked perfectly with just the right amount of stuffing topped with onions. Yum. My wife had the cheesesteak which she gave a thumbs up to. I took a bite and admit it’s one of the best I’ve had. My Cuban sandwich was delicious. Both came with fries which were cooked perfectly and not too thick or too thin. They were cut perfectly. If you’re in Huntington and want a quick brew or a great meal you can’t go wrong here.

Super classy, super trendy. They serve small plates that are insanely delicious, and not overpriced for the town of Huntington. The bar is the most up-scale in town. And the prices are reasonable as well. Bartenders are friendly and talkative. They behave the way you would expect a bartender to act, being super social. They are never rude. The wait service is top notch as well. Everyone is dressed very nice. They are very knowledgeable about the food items. Go here if you want to impress guests. Or if you are single, and looking to meet people. Could be considered a little on the pricy side if your looking for a place to haunt regularly if your in a relationship. Going here is more of an event. The décor is designed to impress. It is hipster, industrial, Victorian fusion. Very«now» …right now
