Service was terrible and what made it worse was the manager, Bennie. We called him to our table to find out why it was over 30 minutes for our entrée. He said he’d check on it and never came back. Never again.

First time we ate here a month ago we loved it. It was just 2 couples and the food and service were superb. So we figured it would be a great choice to bring more couples to celebrate some birthdays. Last night we came in with a large group of 8 couples. They sat us upstairs and all I can say is that we all left very dissappointed. The service was terrible. Our waitress was completely overwhelmed. She didn’t know how their signature Porto Vivo veal was prepared. We could see her over at the computer struggling for over 15 minutes to enter our orders. It took over 45 minutes to get our appetizers. When the manager came over we told him we were concerned about the service, that the government actress appeared inexperienced and needed more help with such a large group. He flippantly said if you don’t like the waitress I’ll get you a new one and gave us a different waitress His attitude was horrendous. He was rude and a jerk. The new waitress was lovely and did her best to salvage the situation. Main courses were not right, not all hot and the food was a big disappointment. Manager came back again. Apologized for the service and his attitude. Comped us dessert but it was too little to late. We won’t be coming back.

Beautiful restaurant. Service was very good. We ordered the fried calamari which came to the table cold and were a bit tough. The stuffed artichoke hearts were definitely from A can as they tasted as though they were packed in water. The buratta mozzarella was very good. Main course was short ribs for my wife and I had veal Milanese. The veal was very greasy as it left a film in my mouth after every bite. What was odd was that the waiter questioned our reason for being at the restaurant. We said we were just out for a dinner. He continued to ask several times if we were celebrating something and even went so far as to say that if we were he would be very discreet. I had to tell him sorry we were just out for dinner.

AMAZING!!! Spectacular food. Great atmosphere. Live music. Great wine selection. Executive Chef Joseph Balbo is just a culinary genius. I cannot say enough about this place. I have eaten here several times. You can sit at a table or at the bar. Either way the service is exceptional. Why take my word for it? Please just experience it for yourself.

Oh My GOD!!! We had the worst experience in a long time we sent our steak back 3 times and we sent it back a final time it was awful the ravioli the egg was over cooked and our friend sent back her filet mignon once wow they had a really bad night. Not sure if we are coming back here for awhile I mean are you kidding me? How can you be across the street from another steak place(MACS) and screw up steak!!! It’s that bad!!!

I have visited nearly every restaurant in Huntington over the past couple years. For some reason I have not been to Porto Vivo until now. I will definitely be back. The atmosphere was great… it is a large, clean, beautiful restaurant. I had the veal chop special which was tender and juicy… great choice and the Brussels sprouts that the chop was placed over were sweet and delicious. My wife had the lobster ravioli which was delicious as well. Very good all around… service was not 5 star but not bad either.

My wife and I have had the pleasure of following Joe, as he grew from a young upcoming executive chef to his current status as one of long island’s best! Porto Vivo restaurant in Huntington, is an exquisite jewel like venue with an urban feel and flair. This gorgeous restaurant has multiple dining levels with the main dining room on the first floor, a fabulous bar and entertainment area on the second level and catering rooms on the 3rd level. In a town with limited parking spaces, Porto Vivo is «hassle free» because it has valet parking. When we arrived at Porto Vivo, Joe greeted us and led us to a spacious banquet in the main dining room., Joe suggested we leave the selections up to him and from that point on it only got better and better. We began our«Porto Vivo feast» with a large dish of petite«Manilla Clams» made with shallots, maple brodo, and pancetta. Delightful, delicious and a great way to begin our meal… Our next dish was. Lobster Ravioli– Truffles, cream, egg yolks and ricotta cheese. We were then served an amazingly generous 30oz. Cowboy Ribeye steak, topped with shrimp scampi, and butternut squash purée. This long boned steak was cooked to perfection with melt in your mouth tenderness. After a brief time out to relax, digest, and engage in some light hearted conversation with Joe, we were now ready for a special Porto Vivo dessert platter. To end our meal we were served a trio of sweet delights: An Apple ricotta Zeppoli, with a small bowl of pure sweet caramel sauce; A creamy and light terramiso; and A Sicilian Pound cake with passion fruit curd. We loved our romantic dinner at Porto Vivo and the wondrous culinary talent of Executive Chef Joe Balbo. Porto Vivo is one of long island’s best! Attended a wedding rehearsal dinner here with about 40 – 50 people in the 3rd floor private dinning area. Great atmosphere; well decorated and comfortable, although the live music from downstairs was a bit loud. We were severed a few rounds of appetizers, they were all delicious, especially the baked clams. For dinner, I ordered Fresh Spaghetti«Porto Vivo»(slow roasted san marzano tomato sauce, basil & parmesan). The tomatoes were delicious — very sweet and tender. Service was good and overall, I really enjoyed what I had. Although, two different people at my table ordered the Grilled Atlantic Salmon; one was cooked very well, one was completely overcooked.

I was so surprised to see that this place only has 3 stars. It’s a beautifully decorated place with 3 levels. My boyfriend and I only went for happy hour on Thursday but we were still very impressed. They had half off drinks and $ 10 food specials which is an awesome deal. There were 2 parties but the bartenders were still very attentive and very nice. We ordered martinis which were pretty strong — just the way I like them. My boyfriend asked to sample one of the beers and the bartender basically filled half a glass was nice of her to do. I definitely want to come back here for a night and do dinner here!

Wow! I did not expect to give this place 5 stars after reading the previous reviews and seeing that for some reason other Unilocalers only gave them 3 and half. My review is solely based on the happy hour at the bar on a Thursday night. We came here before our reservations down the block for some cocktails not expecting much. However, this multi level happening place was awesome! The décor is great and the bar scene was even better. We came and they had two seperate parties going on around the bar. We took two seats at the bar and asked what their specials were. Half off drinks. I’m sorry let me make sure you saw that, half priced cocktails. Hand crafted cocktails usually going for $ 12 were strong and delicious. We each had two different ones along with me having a beer. The bartenders are some of the best at Porto Vivo. They were attentive, even though the parties were going on and when I asked to try a beer on tap, I basically got a half glass which I ended up ordering for my final drink. We will easily come back here for happy hour and stay for food. They do $ 10 small plates at the bar and the menu had a little bit of everything. Porto Vivo is underrated in my opinion and we can not wait to try it out again.

The food, service, and atmosphere are all A+. Delicious upscale Italian food in a beautifully decorated space. The chef even came out to talk with us. Porto Vivo is a great addition to Huntington Village. I highly recommend it.

Great place! Food was amazing. All seven of us were so happy! The mozzarella was to die for! Service was impeccable. There was live music at the bar. I liked how the different sections had very diverse atmospheres, which makes the place good for a variety of events.

came here tonight with my hubs since he’s never been here. the food was amazing! way better then I remember. I have no idea how anyone doesn’t like this place. it’s gorgeous inside & out, the food is fresh & amazing. my hubs devoured his skirt steak. I love the ipad menus. there is not one complaint I can think of besides wishing I came here more often! omg the buratta, must have.

Love this place even more! I had my 30th birthday/dinner here with about 30 people in the upstairs semi private room. Both the staff and the food was wonderful! I have never had a bad meal here, this meal was know different. My entire party left full and happy, thats saying a lot since we have some«off the boat» Italian in the family. Lol Working with the manager Benny was a pressure as well. His staff and himself went above and beyond to make my night special. I would recommend them to anyone for a party or just dinner. And an added bonus is that is right in huntington village moments from my house. I cant wait to go back and have another wonderful meal!

Sometimes a few mis-steps along the way are necessary to self reflect, and Porto Vivo is the poster child of what a turn around one can achieve. First, I was reluctant to revisit them based on a personal experience a few years back and if you read the reviews it is an sentiment shared by others. With that said, gone are the mediocre food and subpar service. The menu is inventive and almost everything is excellent. I highly recommend the skirt steak, truffle Mac and cheese and the fresh mozzarella truffle honey and pear. So thank you Chef for a delicious meal and we will be visiting soon for sure.

We went here last night with friends and waited at the bar for them. The bar tenders were very friendly and the bar area was nicely decorated. We were then seated in the dinning room which had a cozy feel. The service was excellent and atmosphere great. We got four family style dishes which were all good.

This place is truly one of a kind. The place is decorated so nicely and so cozy with two floors for dining. My boyfriend and I sat on the upper level and were given IPad menus upon being seated. I have never had this experience at another restaurant. The food was delicious. I ordered salmon while my boyfriend ordered a pasta dish. The servers were very friendly and eager to answer any questions. This place has a great location directly behind main street in huntington. It’s set back to offer a more private feeling, yet it is walkable to other restaurants, bars, and shops. Great place to spend your next special occassion.

We came here for a friend’s farewell party and I was disappointed. The interior and atmosphere is very nice. There is live music downstairs. The menu is on an iPad or tablet(can’t remember which) so that’s cool. But there are not many options on the menu and it was very overpriced. I got linguine, margherita pizza, and lobster ravioli(split among 4 people) but nothing really stood out to me or gave me a wow factor. I have definitely had better italian food and do not think this was worth the money.
