This is the first time I have ever eaten here despite passing by this place many times in my travels. It is easy to miss this place as it is tucked away in a nondescript Long Island strip mall. The service and food was very good. I was pleasantly surprised because my first impression based on the dated décor was drab Italian food. You can judge a place by the Linguini with white clam sauce and it was made just right. Not too clammy or garlicky. Clams were fresh with excellent preparation of white sauce. We shared the calamari which was also excellent. My husband had the pappardelle pasta which was tasty as well. Although the restaurant could use an updating of the décor the happy guests did not seem to mind at all.

Went there for my anniversary. The food was excellent. Started with an Asian calamari that was so good but too spicy for me. Hubby had the short ribs and I had the fish. The fish was outstanding. Our waiter was attentive and nice. Can’t wait to go back!!!

For New Years Eve we decided to come here with a group of four for the first time. Right when we walked in everyone was so welcoming. We arrived a bit early so we were sat down by the bar. The bartender served us a special drink called the Red Carpet. It was delicious. Our server recommended an excellent special and so I decided to have the cold sea food salad and the veal chop. Both were amazingly so good. Despite the restaurant being busy on New Years Eve the atmosphere was warm and delightful and the owner was especially very kind when meeting him. Can’t wait to come back!

All the foods from the salads appetizers and entrees are well prepared. The service is attentive. This is one of the best Italian restaurants in the area and it is reasonably priced

This is my good friends favorite restaurant. We join them when we can. It’s so nice to always see the owner and know that he is very involved in the operations and talking to his guests. The food is always good and it is great getting a regular sized red wine with dinner. I don’t think the prices are high for the food and service you receive. We are lucky to have a good restaurant to go to and not have to wonder about the outcome.

As I promised to the owner, the first restaurant we visited after being away in Florida for most of the winter was Piccolo Monda. We met two other couples and we were waited on by Susan who was wonderful. This visit most of us ordered either the seafood specials or the seafood selections off the menu. I had the Halibut which was very well prepared. The others also very much enjoyed their entrees. The owner I believe was in the kitchen since they seemed to be shorthanded. I will most definitely be back more often this time.

Piccolo Mondo is basically a guarantee. A guarantee of high quality food; a guarantee of generous portions; a guarantee of a friendly atmosphere and a warm inviting staff; a guarantee that we will continue to patronize this neighborhood restaurant where the owner Roland makes you feel special and seems to know every customer.

We came in on Christmas Eve, which was busy, but the place wasn’t totally packed. Our waitress seemed, as we Italian-Americans say– stunad. Very aloof, not attentive to any degree, and was a total ditz. We waited for almost 20 minutes for her to take our orders, even though she passed by us and looked at us several times– empty handed. We had already worked through our drinks and she STILL didn’t take our orders. She finally did and the waiting once more continued. She later asked us if we wanted a refill on our sodas, and we told her no and she repeated that back to us. Five minutes later she returns with soda. Frustrating! I observed the clientele and realized many of the people were regulars, greeted in the familial fashion which is par for the course in many Italian restaurants, however we seemed to be getting the cold shoulder while they were doted upon profusely. The food finally arrived and it was VERY hit-and-miss. I ordered the veal saltimbocca, which tasted fine, but was slightly tough. The gnocchi that accompanied it tasted very starchy. My brother and grandfather both had the veal marsala, but they both sent it back for being too tough. My grandfather described it «like shoe leather». My dad seemed somewhat ambivalent towards the rack of lamb, which was actually presented pretty well. My sister enjoyed the Farfalle Pesto, and my mother enjoyed the fish in puff pastry(it was some kind of white fish that I can’t recall). I tried it myself and it was actually very good, almost like a pot pie in nature but with fish. But between the lackadaisical service and drastically varied food, we decided not to stay for dessert. Three different staff members, including the manager, apologized abundantly for the veal fiasco. Luckily, the returned veals weren’t on the bill, but chances are I won’t be returning. I’m usually one to give leniency on busy nights, but they weren’t understaffed, in fact far from it. Many bussers and waiters/waitresses milled about or just stood around with nothing to do, or carried on conversations with the regulars. That really does not make you look good as a restaurant, it made us feel particularly ignored and it got under everybody’s skin. As people who appreciate traditional Italian food and having read all the glowing reviews, we were heartily disappointed in our experience at Piccolo Mondo. I say to you, dear reader, that if you’re thinking about trying it out for the first time, you may be in for some unfortunate treatment.

Be careful if you order a special and make sure you ask the price. I ordered filet of sole stuffed with crab meat. Instead I got breaded filet of sole and a small piece stuffed with spinach. It wasn’t bad but not what I ordered. I pointed this out to our server and they compensated with a sort of crab meat salad which tasted like it was from a can. The food wasn’t bad but was no better than what you can get at a good diner. The prices however were for a much higher quality. When I got the check my dish was $ 27.50 so they did charge full price for a dish that was missing a key ingredient. That’s just cheating your customers. Not a wise practice if you want them back. I didn’t feel like arguing so I just paid and left but will never return. The place looks nice and the server was friendly but those are the only positives. If I were the owner I would have changed the price of the dish and offered a free desert but that’s only what good restaurants do.

Excellent food and nice specials everytime we go. Portions are not huge, but quality. The staff is generally very good and attentive. Last two times I went had halibut and monkfish. Both excellent. Husband had grilled octopus with broc rabe, which was a very small portion. The only disappointment is their cocktails and martinis are weak and too fruity. Desserts are very simple, but good.

My husband and I decided to go to Piccolo Mondo last Friday night for a «date Night». We had been their to celebrate the holidays at our annual Old Chester Hills Cocktail party, and enjoyed it very much. We had an amazing experience dining with a fantastic menu and chef’s specials to choose from. I had the Grilled Octopus served over chickpeas, with a Mediterranean flare, the best, I ever tasted. My husband had a Ravioli dish that was stuffed with mushrooms. Our waitress Susan was a true pro, knew the menu, offered wonderful suggestions and she even talked us into s delicious dessert. The house wine a Pinot Grigio was fantastic. A wonderful dining experience, a new favorite of ours right in our neighborhood. I highly recommend this restaurant and plan to return this weekend with friends. Its the new talk of the town!

Our party of 6 revelers spent New Years Eve at Piccolo Mundo, officiated by Roland the owner and his merry band of servers. The menu was prix fixe, but had a whole bunch of choices to choose from, from the apps to the entre’s. They were all first rate and nice sized portions, no cutting corners. The base cost was $ 45 pp not including drinks and dessert. We had a wonderful time and at midnight everyone was up watching the ball drop on tv and whooping it up! It was a first class evening and a great time had by all…

I have been meaning to try this restaurant since moving to the area 6 years ago. It is tucked away in a small shopping center and easy to miss. We went there this past Saturday and apparently we were the last to find out about this gem. It was packed with regulars. We had a fantastic waiter– the service first rate. I had a specialty cocktail– pumpkin martini. It was fantastic. There are a lot of specials offered along with an extensive menu. There is something for everyone. Whatever our party of 4 ordered was first rate. Portions are generous and prices are fair. The décor is fine, but could use a little face lift. I will definitely be back.

Had a really nice dinner here the other night while we were visiting family. I ordered the Chicken Alla Insalata and it was pretty good. I think maybe I was expecting a bit more, but it’s essentially breaded chicken with salad on top. I got to sample a bit of everyone’s meals and they were delicious, which is why I’m giving it 4 stars. I also got a delicious ice cream dessert! Not sure what it’s called and I can’t seem to find it on their online menu.

I went here with my boyfriend about a month ago and we went based on the good reviews and my curiosity after driving past it everyday on my home from work. If you’re looking for a quaint restaurant that is small and intimate, this is a great place. We went on a Friday around 5:30−6ish and it wasn’t too busy, but got busier around 6:30. Their staff is very helpful and there are some delicious specials to chose from. We had the meatballs for an appetizer and the tomato sauce it came in was very flavorful. For dinner, I believe my boyfriend had a tortellini and potato dish, while I had a bowtie with salmon, peas and pink sauce. All were very delicious. Then I had a crème brûlée(my favorite dessert) with fruit inside and again, a great choice. I wish I could give it 4.5 because it really was a great experience. It was also snowing lightly that night so it made it a little more romantic. I would definitely go back here as it is a nice little place, decently priced and very inviting.
