Used to be a good department store. Had a terrible experience here with awful customer service and will not be returning. May also cancel my credit card too. The store manager does not care about providing customer service but instead supports rude employees.

I am so disappointed with my recent experience at this store. I don’t usually shop at Lord & Taylor but I a while back I had received a $ 50 gift card and someone had passed along a 20% off coupon good for that day I decided that it was a good time to finally purchase a pair of polarized Ray Ban Aviator sunglasses with the green flash lenses that I had my eye on for a while. I go into the store and find the sunglass section and see they pair that I want, try them on and decided that I am definitely going to purchase them… This is where my trouble began. I stand in the section for a good 15 min, no sales people in site, no one comes over to ask me if I need help, nothing. I finally hunt down a sales person in a different section of the store and tell her that I would like to purchase said sunglasses and she says okay she will get the keys and meet me in the sunglass department. I make my way back to the sunglass department and wait for 10 more min until she comes back and say all the keys to the sunglass cases are missing and she cannot sell me the glasses. Now I’m getting annoyed, so I ask her if she could please look for them again as I wanted to purchase them today since I had the coupon. She said not a problem and goes off looking for another 10 min and come back again saying she cannot find the key, but If I would like she will order them for me and have them shipped to my house. Great, I think I can still get the glasses and use my coupon today. Not so much! We go through the whole process of giving her my shipping info and get to the end and she asks me how I am going to pay, I say gift card and credit. She then tells me that you cannot use a gift card when you order an item in the store! What kind of nonsense is that! It’s your stores gift card and your telling me I can’t use it to make a purchase at your store! Now I’m really pissed. She decided to go looking for the keys to the case again so I can try to make my purchase in store. I spend another 10 min waiting and she finally comes back with the keys. She goes through all the cases and cannot find a pair of the ones that I want, only a non polarized pair which she tried to sell off saying they were, luckily I know my Ray Bans and knew they were not. After that she tries to sell me the scuffed up scratched tester pair they had on the floor, no way I am paying $ 200 for a busted up pair of glasses. At this point I am livid that she has wasted so much of my time I ask to speak to the manager, who of course does nothing to help me at all. All she did was tell me that she understands why I’m upset, but yet does nothing to remedy the situation or help me to complete my purchase, which resulted in the loss of my sale. This place is a disorganized mess and the staff and unable to do their job. Take your business else where, where employees don’t waste over a half hour of your life looking for keys and where they don’t give you a problem using a store gift card.

other lord and taylors have set the bar, but this one is just. absolutely horrific. the clothing in the contemporary department is always on the floor, the women at the makeup counters rarely pay attention to you and making returns are a hassle. The sales can be great, but i sometimes feel like i’m at a purely discount store. yeah, they have marc jacobs, and michael kors but that’s as high as it goes. Things look disorganized and i don’t get the same feeling i get when i go into a department store that’s suppose to be similar to bloomingdales or macy’s. Also, the dressing rooms smell like someone died in there.

They have a large Free People section which makes the rich hippie in me scream out«YESYESYES!!» They have nice sales– love the friends and family event! The shoe section leaves a bit to be desired but fear not, Macys is right next door!

It may seem like a high-end department store, but if you know how to work the sales here — especially the clearance items — you can get clothing at outlet or discount store prices. This has been my go-to store for years, when I needed to run in and get: my interview suit(scored — got the suit and job), a formal dress for a wedding, gifts(jewelry, baby, birthday) with a nice box and gift receipt. This is because I wait until the last minute, but thankfully I can rely on this place to have what I need. It’s also one of my favorite ways to enter the Mall since the parking lot is great, on the lower level you have the ceiling so you’ll stay dry if it rains(can be competitive but hang in there LIer, and you’ll get your spot) and the upper level where there are oh-so-many spots. Wow — you can look down on all those people below in the crowded parking lot and even feel a little sorry for them — you know the secret and can enter Macy’s and L&T here. Over by the Women’s wear, to the left when you walk in the upper level of L&T, there is a posh rest room — I mean to say«lounge». Sure beats the one in the middle of the mall. And here is the Menswear section, very classy selections and many on sale. I usually meander over to the Girl’s deparment, directly to the clearance rack. Yesterday I got such great bargains for back-to-school clothes. Guess, Ralph Lauren and Flapdoodles are among prominent brands you’ll find here. Since the sizes are well organized it won’t take too much time to find things; there was a 50% off the clearance price special(!!) — confirm with the price checker(near the mirror by the register) first. I also have the L&T card which is worth having because you get special sale coupons in the mail. Wish they had a housewares department but whenever I need that stuff I can always head over to Macy’s 3rd floor.

Department Store Surprisingly no one reviewed this yet. Lord & Taylor is the old line department store that has been around for many years. This location is relatively new– only a few years old, it was added onto the Walt Whitman mall to upgrade it a bit. Lord & Taylor seemingly caters to, or attempts to market itself at, the older well-heeled crowd. That being said, they have just about everything that you can find in Macy’s or Bloomingdale’s and with the double bonus of super nice sales people– very unlike Macy’s. I had actually hit some other stores first in search of a gift and popped into Lord & Taylor mostly because it was there. I wound up spending a good chunk of the morning just browsing — found what I needed and got on my way. Prices were not as high as I had expected and the sales help was outstanding. Parking all around.
