This place has been around for years. Its got that long-timey going for it. But every now and then, maybe these old school places, which I love, needs to re-look at at a few things. I only visit this area maybe once every 3 – 4 months. And always go here because of its unique menu/mom & pop style. But here’s something I hope the owners will think about. The salad bar is filled with«junk vegetables,» vegetables that are cheap, ones nobody really wants, but makes the salad bar look full. Stuff like onions, celery, or various chopped combos of other junk vegetables. No mushrooms, black/green olives, etc. Toppings are nonexistent. No raisins, sunflower seeds, fresh ground pepper, even the croutons were the cheapest Costco/Smart & Final type, no thought to flavor or texture, little tiny cubes. The other thing that gets me,(besides TOILETPAPERNAPKINS below) is that, when asked to spend $ 15 — $ 25 for a meal, I think the quality/value of the meal would be enhanced if it wasn’t served cafeteria-style plastic plates. Use real ceramic plates please, you’re a «dining» establishment, not a fast food place. Most of my restaurant reviews contain comments on these two items: COKEALERT: Yes they serve the good stuff, real Coke, not the«P» crap TOILETPAPERNAPKINALERT: Unfortunately this place uses toilet paper-thin napkins, as with many cost-conscious restaurants nowadays, thinking that the cheapest napkins save money, when one good napkin would have replaced the 20 one-use ones I had to use.

Great place for seafood. Fish and chips were great($ 6 during hh). I have tried fish and chips at most seafood places we go to around here. Zubies has it right! The fish has a thin breading that gets crisp and has delicious flavor. Happy hour prices are great and everyday from 1−6pm. Wine for $ 4.75. They do good size pours also. Oysters taste fresh and the shrimp marguerite has excellent flavor. I’ll be coming back when I want more fish and chips!

Finally gave this place a try after living in fv for almost 20 yrs. Shocked at how big it was… lots of aquariums and some arcade games fir the kids… casual family dining. Order at counter and picj up food when your buzzer buzzes. The food was a hit or miss. The oysters Rockefeller were really tasty. Steak was tasteless. Ribs & chicken(weekly dinner special) was dry and chewy. Bbq chicken pizza was very good. I’d probably only stop by for drinks and oysters next time.

Atmosphere… Super cool! Honestly, I’ll have no problem returning for happy hour; but, the food was tasteless and cold.

Every time I go to Zubie’s I tell myself I’m going to try something different, because they have so many items that look amazing, and have HUGE portions. But then when I get there I always order the calamari taco. It’s not really a taco. More like an open burrito with fajita vegies, cheese, and breaded calamari strips, beans, and cole slaw. And it is SO good. Ambiance is casual to a fault. No pretensions here. But cool fish tanks, and plenty of tv sport screens. I think I’ll get a steak next time. NAH, who am I kidding.

Ordered the fish & chips. The guy at the counter said it came with a salad and told me I could fill up a box to go from the salad bar. WHAT??? It also came with a small side of veggies! All for 11.00. Not the best fish & chips I’ve had, but they were pretty good, and the salad bar had some decent toppings for how small it was. I would give 3 stars, but for the price and how much food you get, I’ll add one star!

My dad’s been coming here since the place first opened, & I have memories of this place as a young kid. Friendly people here, everybody from the cooks to the servers. Quite honestly I’m not the best judge of their food as I’ve only had three things there. Classic pizza, appetizer jalapeño filled quesadilla, and the calamari fish taco. Despite coming here for the past 2 decades, we always get the calamari fish because it is absolutely amazing. The whole family always get this. We’ve brought friends here, who always get it too now. The rest of the food is also good quality. Really cool place

The specials are really great, but it depends on your liking of atmosphere. For the Monday special, it’s $ 10 + tax for a 16″ pizza, great deal! Any amount of toppings! But on the downside, I’m a person who prefers to pay more for quality of atmosphere and of food. The pizza was okay, but the crust was a little dry. Their take on Ranch is a bit weird to me, they have cottage cheese, but to each their own. One of their workers a male, super sweet and helpful and really funny! the girl, helpful, but a bit too aggressive, then again its a busy night. The crowd gets rambunctious with the great happy hours deal and awesome pitcher prices. So be forewarned if you go!

Decent, really good comfort food. I had the 16 oz prime rib, which reminded me of the Chicken Coop’s. Loved it and obliterated it. Fries were excellent as well. Next time I want to try their Margaritas! Special shout out to Enrique, the chef. You are amazing! We love you!

Came for my dad’s birthday and found it to be kind of intriguing in a fish market, bar, picnic bench, pizza placey kind of way. Had the blackened salmon with jasmine rice, surprisingly good for such a casual place. They have a salad bar also and fresh rolls are served with your meals. The bar side has some interesting patrons, but you’re safe on the family fun side. All in all, pretty tasty and comfortable place to spend a rainy weekend day.

The food is really good. I’ve been slacking on writing this review because my experience was tainted by getting in a fight with my boyfriend. We sat in silence pretty much the whole time we were at Zubies. At least I had the fish floating in the fish tanks to keep me company lol Anyway putting that aside, this place was legit. Very casual atmosphere inside, which makes sense since its so close to the beach and all. You walk up and order and then they put your order on the counter when its ready. Then you grab your order and head over to the dressing bar where they have tarter sauce, ranch and pretty much anything your heart could desire. I ordered the fish and chips and it was probably the best fish and chips I have ever had! The fish was perfectly breaded and fried with a tiny bit of crunch, while the fish wasn’t fishy at all. The French fries were bomb in their ranch. I would recommend this place! Just don’t go when you’re fighting with the bae lol

Zubies is a very friendly family restaurant. It is a huge restaurant barn style and has arcade games for kids and adults to play! It is located in a big plaza and kind of hidden because its all the way deep in the corner of the shopping center. I normally come here for dinner and get steak and seafood. Their seafood is normally always fresh and i never had a problem with it. The prime rib and rib-eyes are cooked to perfection and seasoned well. Im in love with the salad bar because you get a variety of dressing, toppings, and salads. I try not to get full off the salad bar before my food comes out but its so hard. The pizzas are pretty good but gets soggy in the middle and the bartenders have a heavy hand so the drinks are pretty strong. As a result, i love this place and will keep coming back.

Food was excellent!!! Showed up for happy hour, had the shrimp margarite(absolutely amazing pasta dish) and the fish and chips basket. The shrimp margarite was to die for! Huge plate and couldn’t get close to finishing it. Great buy for only 6 $ The fish and chips was awesome as well, fresh fish, watched the chef slice and batter the fish which is great to see. Couldn’t recommend this more!!!

I’ve been a faithful fan for 20 years. Sadly our meal was seriously bad. Crab legs were not split and so bendable(old). I returned them asking and the cook gave a cracker utensil which doesn’t work if the legs are limp. My swordfish tasted fishy and we all know it should not. Please bring your level back up to John Zubietta’s standard again. We want to come back! Tonight it just looked like a place where you can bring the kids to spill stuff.

My bf chose this place to have dinner with his parents last weekend. It was my first time here but his family has been coming here from time to time over the years. The environment was loud; it was mostly families on Friday. We decided to sit in the bar area since it was surprisingly quieter and ordered a mahi Cajun style with corn and fries since they were out of the halibut and an order or nachos. The mahi came with ayce salad from the salad bar. Their selections were limited and decent. The food came out fairly quickly but was absolutely not impressed. The nachos were decent for about 5 mins when they were hot then it became a slab of cold, hard cheese over chips with dry pulled pork and minimal toppings. I felt the mahi was slightly dry but it could be because the bf wanted extra Cajun. The only good thing really was the Cajun corn and beer. I hope he doesn’t want to come back here because I just felt gross and unsatisfied when I left.
