LUNCH review only Todai… ohh what has happened to you? this use to be the go too place for buffets… I remember always begging my mom to come here… walking in. the host was not very friendly, it took them a while to seat us… and when seating they clumped us all together where we were kinda all in one side… I felt like i needed more space… the servers were very nice! the food was ok… — the udon: you make your own but they put so little noodles in a bowl that I had to go back like 3 times to get a decent amount… I like that they had green onion toppings and radish. the chinese food was probity the only ok part of this buffet. the fried rice was decent and the orange chicken… but all the labels were all mixed up so i didn’t really know what i was eating… the sushi; ok honestly ppl don’t expect to get good sushi here. but it was more than bad… my mom and I got really bad stomach acts after… the salmon was ok the tools seem to be dry and lacking flavor even with all this stuff on top of it… the desserts… were very small and all i can say is the fresh fruit was good. I have been to the range one which is better… but honestly I don’t know how this place can do down so bad… Please please get better cuz I won’t to love you again…

Went here couple nights ago with family in town for dinner. It was about $ 22/person for weekdays and $ 25/person weekends. The sushi/seafood selection was more compared to other buffets I’ve been too but it’s okay. There wasn’t much variety of other foods so in all, it’s really not worth your money. The whole time we were there, the server had only come once to pick up our empty plates and had to ask for our hot teas to be refilled. Shoulda figured knowing there wasn’t much customers in the beginning. I recommend finding a better place or treat yourself to a nice steak house instead for that price!

Cons: — Very few customers(This is a really big draw back for any buffet place, because few customers means less fresh of food) — Below average service(I understand that this is a buffet place where you only see the waiter when s/he brings you water and check), but the waitress just seems really tired with no passion about her work. — Food(taste) was tooooo OKAY for a buffet place that charges you $ 20+ — Very few selections(I walked around the place for 5+ times to search for less than 1 plate of food that I felt like okay about eating and not getting sick) SO, go somewhere else to feed you tummy!

This is a complete rip off on many levels. I used to go here but it has been a while and it sure has changed. I went on a Sunday for their brunch at $ 24.99. The rolls were stale and did not taste fresh at all. The main reason I went there was for their tempura shrimp. I was there when they opened at 11:30 and had to wait 15 minutes for the first batch of tempura which was vegetables and about a half dozen shrimp. They were quickly devoured by the first person in line. When the second batch came 15 minutes later, again only about 7 – 8 shrimp. I took them all. For the next 45 minutes, they never brought out more shrimp. For the same amount of money, go to Panda Inn in La Mirada.

Sorry, the food was dry and had no taste to it. Knew better than to have the oysters on a half shell — wasn’t fresh at all. The kids with their not-so-discerning tastes kept going back for all the sushi. I guess that made it worth the price. I kept on staring at a dried-out dead foxtail palm in the corner and was wondering if anyone working there ever cared to remove the dead plant. Obviously they didn’t bother to water it.

Concur with the previous reviews about them not honoring their gift certificates. If you EVER agreed to sell them — you need to HONOR them. If you don’t — you lose this customer — and I imagine a hell of a lot more. You’ve been warned — unscrupulous business ahoy!

Went here last night because I was feening for asian food. It was either the todai in huntington beach or westminster, and to a coin toss we went to huntington. The place is pretty small compared to other todais. I honestly dont know why this place is rated ones with people complaining about the food. For seafood buffets you trade in the quality of the food for the quantity, and that should be known before you even arrive. I rate a 2 solely because of the 25 dollar price per person and the fact that the rolls should be a liitttttttttle fresher, like clear out the old ones after a few minutes when the ingrediants start changing colors. The service was ok… but how hard can it really be to just pick up plates and fill water every once in a while. The hot food was pretty good, but thought the dynamite jumbo shrimp was amazing. Never tasted anything like it and ate about 3 of em last night. The soup and udon noodles were pretty decent, nothing to special. The crab legs were really good, had about two plates of them and they are easy to peel. Teh sashimi and nigiri sushi tasted pretty fresh but not as fresh as if you would buy it from a regular chef. Only thing I didnt like was the rolls. Looked like they were out for a while. Overall ive been to todais before and this was definietely on the lower end compared to the others, but this place is still pretty good and will get you full. (GOEATIT but maybe at another todai) Jordan

worst Todai I ever!!! I had been to other Todai locations and this is by far the worst. The raw fish was fresh but the chef only serve very small amount to the counter at a time. It gave customer a feeling that they were afraid you take too much. The did the same to the ice cream and dessert by cutting them into very tiny pieces. Go check how PALA casino do with their dessert! The crab leg wasn’t as fresh but salty. Oyster was ok but small. The dinning environment was not very pleasant. It had an old dirty feeling. The service was ok, the waiter was friendly but the guy at front desk was not. Most of all, my friend purchased their gift certificate at but the restaurant refuse to take it. The reason they gave us was it wasn’t authorize activities by the restaurant. There price may be few dollars cheaper than other Todai location but I’d rather go to the Orange location or La Puente instead of this one.

Todai is supposed to be good… what the heck happened? Food: The food selection here is nearly nothing. The sushi and nigiri are adequate at best, and most of the time it’s not adequate. I think for the price I’m paying, I’m entitled to get just a bit better quality sushi than their best sushi. The buffet area is totally unorganized and lacks imagination. The other foods are worse than the sushi, which says a lot to sushi that is barely fresh half the time and has no taste. I had to drown my sushi in wasabi and soy sauce to throughly enjoy it. Service: There’s not much to be said about service at AYCE places, but these workers don’t really take your plates away for a long time. That is not what you want to see at an AYCE place… you don’t want to stockpile your empty or unfinished plates upwards to form some tower of Hanoi or something. They need to get their act together. Environment/Location: It’s in a nice plaza, I’ll give you that. It’s near businesses so I guess that’s where they get their customers from. The inside of the restaurant looks sort of nice, but all that will be forgotten once you taste their food and pay for your meals. Overall: 1⁄5 They should be paying YOU to taste their food.

F this effing place… I had a bunch of frequent flyer miles on United after my trip to China a couple of years ago. They were expiring so I cashed them in on . I got a $ 25 gift card to Todai. Believe me, the choices were very limited. My wife refuses to eat here because the food tastes like crap. I took the kids by myself when the wife went to a musical performance. They love buffets. I do to, as long as they are in the Bellagio in Las Vegas. Oh well. After fighting for a parking spot in this hell hole, we were seated. I whipped out the gift card before placing our drink order knowing it might be a hassle. They promptly told me they no longer accept it. WTF? They were the ones to sign the marketing deal. I held it in my hand. It was bought and paid for. Feel free to remove it from the website but honor the ones that have already been printed! It was only 3 months old. I asked to speak to a manager. «So sorry… he at Target right now. He be right back». F U We walked right out and headed across the parking lot to Chili’s…babyback ribs… barbecue sauce… decent food and great service!

Todai. I’ve been to several of their sister locations in the past. I have to say that this Todai has been exceptionally terrific. I came here for both a company dinner and school get-together. The food here is fresh. I love their ramen and udon noodles. They get to me every time. The side dishes include muscles, tempura and more. Surprisingly, the sashimi wasn’t soggy or luke warm like some of the other Todai restaurants I’ve been to. The waiters/waitress’ were very kind with a smile and constantly refilled my drink, as well as clearing the dishes when my plate was full. Overall, judging by the sign it says new management it must mean that all those other times I’ve been to HB Todai the management had changed. In my opinion the food service and the food itself has improved since the last time I was here under old management. You gotta love the freezer filled with ice cream. No need to say this but I will most likely come back here again to chow down on some fantastic Japanese food.

I went here for sunday brunch, which includes crab legs and a drink. The selection of sushi and sashimi was outstanding. I was very happy with all the different types being offered. I had been to Todai before at the mall of Orange and this place had a lot more options. Customer service was great as well, there was always someone coming to the table to ask how everything was. They have a limited selection of hot items and the desserts are ok, but that wasn’t the reason why I came here. I came here for the sushi and they did not disappoint. I need to check out the westminister location because apparently people have rated that one higher, but I’ll let you all know. Sunday brunch was $ 21.

Usually when a business advertises new ownership it is a positive thing. But in this case, I am flabbergasted as to how much the level of quality has dropped here. Albeit, AYCE sushi does not conjure up images of jaw dropping quality, but we just happened to be in the area and were quite hungry. My wife being a newbie sushi eater was quite excited about the prospect of trying different kinds of sushi. Maybe because it was on a weekday or that they were about 45 min from closing. They were polite enough to let us know every 15 min that they were closing(NOT!). But the sushi was dried out and the hot foods looked like they were left out under the heatlamps so long, it resembled more of a jerky buffet. More annoying was that before our time was up, they started clearing the line — and setting aside the food for themselves!!! WTF! I never thought I had to compete in the buffet line with the employees. But in this case I won because I just went over to their table and took some of the food. Never mess with a hungry fat dude, b/c you will ALWAYS lose. Well, the good thing that came of this is it helped to establish a baseline for the worst sushi for my wife. She now knows what truly bad sushi is. It’s like that saying — without losers, there would be no winners. So I encourage a visit to here if you are in need of recalibrating your sushi meters. Press the tare button to zero out your scale.

We went bc we had some Gift Cert. They charge a higher price than the posted price if you use these! $ 5 more per person! They do not say that on the GC! Plus they add 18% gratuity, at a buffet! Then the food. Most of it was ok, what-I-was-expecting-from-Todai quality. The problem was, the owner thought it was much more important to walk around and carefully place the serving spoons back on the spoon rests, rather than telling his employees the trays needed to be refilled with food! We got there around 7:30 on a Sunday night. They didn’t close till 9pm. The oyster tray was empty, as was the crab legs. They didn’t refill them till about 8:45(the trays stood empty for over an HOUR!) and by then I was stuffed, and I just got 2 legs. They only put out enough for a few(like 3 people) to hog all the legs they could fit on a plate. So not like I really HAD a choice about getting only 2 legs. They tasted watery and salty, obviously previously frozen and thawed several times. The nigri was not bad, the rice was not bad. though the sashimi was cut terribly, and the quality was worse than the fish on the nigiri, of course they don’t want you to eat more sashimi than nigiri, they are counting on you eating lots of rice to get full. Rolls were just variations of CA rolls. Waste of time. There was a fried tempura roll that they kept under a heat lamp to keep it hot and crunchy, why couldn’t they do that for the unagi too? Cold unagi is like rubber. No more udon at 8pm. wtf. In the hot food section, the dynamite in the oyster shell was fake crab and a LOT of mayo, and ONE tiny scallop, gross. The shrimp dynamite was ok. There was a breaded fish fillet, that was pretty good, crunchy. Tempura was not bad either, the yam was yummy. Stay away from the crawfish. They are black inside. Beef teriyaki is rock hard. For a sunday dinner I was disappointed there was not more food. maybe there was more earlier, but like I said, the owner didn’t feel like refilling anything. I also tried to get some steamed clams, the worker took it away just as I was reaching for the spoon. wtf again! They could have had more salads too. The shrimp cocktail was not bad. I know todai is not the best quality, but even for having low expectations, it still sucked, and the«we charge a different price if you have a GC» was a slap in the face. No where is it posted that it says that.

Ahh, Todai. The go to choice of my parents for a Friday night family dinner. Do I eat sushi? No. Is it some what of a waste for me to come here and eat AYCE sushi? Yes. Is the other food selection good? It’s edible. It’s a-ok. It’s…comparable to ramen I suppose, with really high prices. The food is cold. It was cooked early in the day, maybe even left overs from the day before and then put onto some hot plates to serve during dinner. Ew. Yucky. Blehs. Why the 3 stars then? DESSERT. I like their dessert selection. It comes in miniature sizes so that you can have one of everything. There’s also green tea ice cream and last I remember a fondue machine! Yay for fondue! Yay for my parents spending about 25 bucks for me to eat nothing but dessert. Inside is dark and wanna be modern. I’m not too comfortable sitting at the booths, because they are often times sticky. I didn’t really like the table feeling the same way the booth felt either. They need to do something about their cleaning crew and make this place cleaner and less dingy feeling.

Went back earlier this week and as always the food was great, the place was clean and I enjoyed every lip smacking bite. So, for all of you 1&2 star haters STF away, more for me! Go and pay more for your fancy pants places, I’m so special cause they have a Sushi Bar, oh look at me I’m sitting at the Sushi bar and paying double, oh boy isn’t this Vogue wait until I tell all of my friends I was at a fancy sushi bar and paid almost $ 75 for the same food and quality I could get at Todai for less(and just as good) where I can sit and be a pretentious Prissy Puss! See, I’ve been to a lot of these prissy pissy sushi bars and they sucked so bad I didn’t even write a review because Unilocal doesn’t have a don’t waste your time and money here icon. They sucked and the food at Todai has never disappointed, just check out how this loser of a place treated me after a 5 star review: More for me and none of your negative energy either… BLAAAAAAAH!

The first time I went here was when I was in high school and now I remember why I never returned. We were actually on our way to Sushi on Fire in Huntington Beach, but as we were driving on Beach Blvd. the Mister at the last minute decided to bust a U-turn and wanted Todai instead because he was STARVING and wanted AYCE. As soon as I walked in I could feel the filth; just something about the tables, the food stations, chairs, pretty much everything felt old and dirty. As for the hot foods, the sushi, the salad bar, ohmigoodness, everything was gross. I could have had a better experience at Sizzler, now i just need to remember not to step foot in here again.

Parking was annoying. But the food is great. Service mediocre; didn’t really pay attention. We didn’t stick around for long. I do want to go back again though. I never tried Todai back home(we only have 1 location and it’s out of the way for me). Though for sushi, we wouldn’t come here back in Vegas. I like the buffet style sushi options; it’s a new thing for me since I’ve never been to one with that much sushi out on a buffet area. There are also typical Asian food so it’d be good for non-seafood/sushi eaters.

What can I say about Todai that hasn’t been said already? I went here with some family for lunch. The lunch selection was pretty good, stuff that you would find at many seafood buffets. Sushi was good, but then again, mostly just the regular California Rolls with something piled on top. Then there was the tofu salad. Tofu = not good, and I’m usually a HUGEFAN of tofu. Almost depressing. They would have gotten another star if they had frozen yogurt. What buffet doesn’t have frozen yogurt? It would have made up for the crappy deserts they had. Mostly flavorless little cakes. I got all happy when I saw the Coconut Cheesecake, only to find it was the worst cheesecake that I’ve ever tasted. Against normal standards, I might have reviewed this place with less stars. But against buffet standards, they’re A-OK.
