I really love this place! The interior is hip and comfortable, service is excellent and the happy hour menu rocks! My friend and I devoured their meats here. Our favorites being their bistro hanger steak, prime garlic shoyu steak, and harami miso skirt steak. Their toro beef and angus beef ribs were good too. The filet mignon was disappointing. Expected more flavor and tenderness. For our sides, we got garlic noodles which was really disappointing. Too bland. We ordered their spicy cabbage salad to add a crisp element to compliment the meats. Overall, the prices were very reasonable for the quality of the food served.

Had dinner here last night and Matt our server was GREAT! Food was good too! I give Matt and food a five stars. Unfortunately I give the establishment a one star because the restrooms are disgusting! It was hard to enjoy our meal after seeing how filthy the restrooms were and the lack of house keeping in the restaurant. I’m surprised health department isn’t on top of this.

One of my favorite restaurants. They have happy hour almost all day long, 7 days a week. 32 ounce saporros for around $ 4, meat of all different price levels sitting around $ 3. You cook the meat here yourself. They also have some things which you order that are already cooked. All of the meat I have tried here so far has been good quality. They also have macaroon ice cream sandwiches here for dessert. Highly recommend this place.

Great food, fun place. Drinks are OK. People seem to love the beer here. This was a surprise for us. We were going to go to the place next store but they had all fried foods so we came here instead. We had a garlic shrimp noodle dish, bibimbap rice dish which was ridiculously delicious with a fried egg on top. We also had the avocado salad and the ahi app. We went for it with the green tea crêpe dessert! All so so good

I would round this place up to 3 ½ half stars. Came in here for a dinner for 6 people during their happy hour and pricing on their meats and dishes were great but our server wasn’t exactly attentive to us. My friend asked for a refill on her hot water about 4 times and didn’t get her refill until the end of our meal. My other friend, she ordered another dish of meat but that never came out but when we checked the bill that wasn’t added on so that was good. This was my first visit here and I would honestly say it wasn’t bad, it was actually pretty good. Food tasted good, it’s just the service was a little off on a slow Monday night.

Just finished my meal and that was so good! Was totally clueless of what I was doing, but with the help of William and Vivyan, I get to understand the menu more(which is totally not hard) and get the perfect meal for myself! William also thought me the best way and timing to cook the meat, very helpful for a guy like me who you should totally keep away from a grill. Happy Hour here is Monday all day long, and daily at certain hours, check the details on their menu! My only suggestion is to ask questions(if the awesome staff have not already mention it already). Again, shoutout to William and Vivyan, that was probably one of the best meals I had!

I love this place and it costs me an arm and a leg every time I go but it is so worth it. The quality cannot be beat and it is a fantastic place for some cheap beer as well. Pricing: First off, I have only come during lunch or happy hour(and super happy hour). I do not think I would come during any of the off hours because it is already $ 4-$ 8 per meat dish with their special. They have a menu on-line so be sure to check that out. You will probably need 3 – 5 meat servings to fill you and a few side dishes. Lunch is a fantastic deal if you can make it. It is truly a steal. Food: The quality is superb. They aren’t serving you frozen meat from the back(haha for those who have had cheap KBBQ, you know what I am talking about). They tell you the cooking time for each meat and it is cooked over an open flame at your table. You will need it cook it for yourself in case that wasn’t clear haha. Yum for those charred goodness and the meat is flavorful and juicy. My favorite meats are the bistro hanger and the Angus beef rib. As for the sides, the gyoza and fried chicken are delicious. Try the three sauces they have on the side, they will complement your meat perfectly as well. Lastly, grab a few beers or sake-tinis, they are only $ 2-$ 4 dollars and you can definitely get buzzed here(and you will find groups of intoxicated people here on the weekends). Lastly, get the smores! It is fun to cook over the open flame and a yummy treat at the end that isn’t too heavy :) Service: Servers are nice and the restaurant is clean. It can get loud over the weekend but generally quiet during the week days otherwise. So yes, come and try it. You will not regret it. This is probably one of my favorite places and my definite go to for special occasions or if I just want to have a few beers with meat.

Since this is my 2nd time here and didn’t write a 1st review. I’m going to rate it on there 2nd try. My first experience was pretty amazing. So today I called in to make reservations, @9:30 and proximately came in around 9:35? Seated right away because obviously wasn’t going to be a crazy and busy night for them on a Monday(work in the restaurant business). Everything I’m requesting is coming out pretty fast. +1 Food: +1 –2 pork belly –Yaki Shabu beef –broccoli Food is delicious the first and of course it was delicious again! Service: +0.5 Slow night so there’s not that many tables to attend to, plus they sat everyone on the same side. For some reason, the table I’m sitting at wasn’t getting enough service today. Atleast their attitude was somewhat good? Overall, food is amazing as always, service first time was great but ehh this time, and also the desert was AMAZING. That’s automatically +1 star there. lol. So I would rate this place 3.5 to 4 stars first day would of definitely been 5 stars.

I went here for my wife’s birthday with a few others. Enjoyed the food but the service could have been better. Food: My mom joined us on this Gyu-Kaku adventure, and as it was her first time, we opted for more variety on the menu than usual. The meats were all flavorful and delicious, the veggies were alright, and we loved the garlic noodles with shrimp. We only ordered fried appetizers, which was a bad choice, since it felt a bit heavy and greasy. Overall, the food was good(standard Gyu-Kaku experience). +2/2 stars Service: The service was pretty good. We put in orders and received them pretty quickly. My friend had ordered a mimosa, but I guess they didn’t catch it. We actually forgot we ordered it until halfway through the meal, so we decided to forget about it. When we wanted to pay, it was really hard to get our server’s attention. It took a while to get our check as well(not quite sure why though). +0.5/1 star Restaurant/Ambiance: The restaurant has a good feeling. The seating was comfortable, and overall atmosphere was nice. +1/1 star Would I come back? Probably only on Mondays when they have happy hour. I don’t really think it’s that amazing, especially for their prices, but I may just have a preference for Korean BBQ restaurants. +.5−1/1 star Total: 4.0−4.5÷5 stars.

I came here on a Monday which has happy hour all day! We weren’t able to be seated until everyone in our party was present. We started off with one of the set menus. I think we went with the meat lovers and added other meats/veggies a la carte. All of the happy hour prices are in red. Whenever you get meat the waiter will let you know how long you should grill the meat for on each side, which I that was really helpful. All of the meat was really good! We also ordered the garlic mushroom and cheese broccoli, which were both amazing. Of course we all finished our meal with smores. The current flavor marshmellows they had are original, coconut, lemon meringue, and peppermint. The service here is really great! Our table was constantly cleared, waters refilled, and grill changed without being asked.

GYU never disappoints me. This location is very nice with an outside patio available. The staff is very generous and attentive. We walked in at 4:30pm and noticed it was very empty. Our waiter was fast and sharp. He brought the orders very quickly and recommend the best item on the lunch menu. Ordered items: spicy volcano, Lunch combo with 2 meats which came with Miso Soup, rice and a Salad. We first ordered 2 orders of the spicy volcano, I’m not a huge fan but my GF can tear it up. We then ordered the lunch combo which came with 2 orders of meats, a salad and a miso Soup. They first brought out the Miso soup; it was nice and warm but served in a very small cup. Then they brought out the salad which consisted of a boiled egg, tomato, lettuce, cucumber and dressing. Very refreshing salad to go along with the miso soup. We then received the meats; we ordered spicy pork and chunks of filet. The Filet was the best by far. If I would’ve known, I would’ve ordered all filet. I also really like how they added oil to the grill before we started cooking. I noticed other places don’t do that. To end things off, we ordered some s’mores. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at GYU. Since it was an early Wednesday afternoon we were treated with excellent customer service. I will definitely be back.

I’ve been to this chain a few times. All different locations but same great experience. Every time I have been was for restaurant week which gets you a ton of food for only 20 bucks a person. However, I still don’t know why we never have been without restaurant week as they do have a good special that is $ 45 for dinner for two that looked similar to the $ 40 restaurant week deal. We had to make reservations and we still ended up waiting about 10 minutes, which was good considering there was a 1.5 hour wait! Most people checking in had reservations for really big groups so that probably made the wait time even longer. The deal included miso soup and salad to start with two appetizer choices. There was a good amount to choose from so we went with the dumplings and volcano rolls. The dumplings were good but a bit spicy for me but the rolls were fantastic! We chose 4 meats and 2 veggies with the deal. They are all delicious. We were very happy with the meats we selected but the Mahi mahi was a bit disappointing, it wasn’t horrible but we’ve had better. The dessert was s’mores and they let you choose from 4 flavored marshmallows! The flavored ones we chose were coconut and peppermint(also available was lemon and regular). The flavored marshmallows came in square cuts and the flavor was mixed into the marsh… so good! Best marshmallows I have ever had! We will definitely be back for their 2 person specials!

I do think that this location is better than other ones that I’ve been to. It’s very clean and spacious. I went on a Monday for the all day happy hour and OC restaurant week is also going on. Happy hour of course is still more reasonable with more food. I ordered a beer bucket and wanted all Asahi Blacks but they only had one bottle left! Shipments don’t come in until Tuesday apparently. That was a bummer. They also just like to give you everything in your order at one time. Our table was so full… good thing we got a 4 seater for 2 people. The quality of the food was pretty good and everything tasted good. Our server changed a few times so it was confusing wondering who to ask for.

Yay! Much less crowded than other Gyu-Kaku locations. Also much smaller. Their happy hour is pretty much all the time, except for a small window of a couple hours in the middle of the day. Love getting the 2-person specials priced around $ 45-$ 65. The meats here are always delicious. Not your typical cheap AYCE joint. Even the appetizer Gyu-Kaku salad that’s included is freakin’ amazing. I love this restaurant. Come during happy hour. You can get a tall, cold glass of Sapporo the size of your head for like $ 4.

Happy hour is my favorite time of the day! Good thing it’s all day happy hour on Mondays and basically all day happy hour every other day(I think there’s only 2 hours when it isn’t happy hour each day). They make you think prices are cheap because you see all the price markdowns for happy hour but it’s pretty much happy hour all the time lol. They also have a super happy hour! There’s one sometime during the day but also one from 9:30 til close. Some of the meats get marked down to $ 3 but what I always have to get is the garlic noodles :) yummm my favorite($ 5 during super happy hour, normally ~$ 9). The meat is really good quality too! Service here is always great. Sometimes it gets crowded, but you can just make a reservation if you want to avoid a long wait! I think right now they’re doing some festival thing so a pitcher of beer is only $ 8(I think it’s normally $ 9.75). And you also get a free game card with some prize on it.

Wow, all you can eat on Thanksgiving for $ 30 pp, nothing to cook or clean, I was all set for the feast until I got invited to a German Thanksgiving fiesta so I decided to go yesterday, MOnday happy hour special for 2, a feast for $ 45, a saving of $ 10. The happy hour Asahi beer was $ 4.50 for 34 ounces! assorted sake and saketini drinks for $ 5, unfortunately I do not drink beer or wine or sake! Gyu Kaku, please get Mai Tai for folks like myself, this is the only reason I do not come here more often, I have nothing to drink here! I’d love a Mai tai, Pina Colada, something almost every Japanese restaurant has in the 49 contiguous states and in Hawaii. The Happy Hour special every Monday was amazing, take a look at the picture I took listing all the courses. The free edamame came right awy with the water, the apps were pre set, some gyozas, fried tofu and a Gyu Kaku salad with sesame dressing. The tender New York Steak and the fresh shrimp were my favorite, the hanger steak a little chewy, all the steaks were good but they are all a little too sweet, I had to ask for lemon to decrease the sweet taste in almost everything, including the sauces. This was the first time I chose the free upgraded to Sukiyaki rice, OMG, it was so delicious, I normally never ate too much rice to save room for all the good meats to eat but it was so delicious, we ate the whole pot! the other choice would have been garlic noodle, I looked around almost everybody ordered the Sukiyaki rice. Gyu Kaku, you have the best value in Japanese cuisine, please add Mai Tai to your drink menu and lower the amount of sugar in the marinade, I would come here every week and upvote to 5 stars! I highly recommend Gyu Kaku for birthdays, anniversaries, family reunions, it was a lot of fun being your own chef! I will be back!!!

Love the ambience, happy hour specials and meat! Not crazy about the sides that come with the combos so I would suggest ordering your fav meats and selecting sides. Spinach, garlic noodles and bibimbap are the best. Have had several issues with the hostess/wait time which is frustrating. Once we waited over an hour with a reservation — reason we didn’t leave is we enjoyed some beer on the patio and had fun while we waited.
