As others have said this is a hole in the wall place that has a huge menu and many of the workers don’t speak english. It’s authentic, and after moving to HB2 years ago & trying pretty much every mexican joint around I’m thinkin this may be the most authentic I’ve seen. I’ve eaten here twice within the last 4 days & neither time let me down. 1st time was a «quick» stop in to grab lunch, I wanted a cemita & no one else around makes them that I’ve seen(closest other spot is in Anaheim!). 2nd stop in was for 5 breakfast burritos to go this weekend. I personally love that they have rice & beans in the breakfast burrito, it seems hardly anyone does that and it makes them so much better — especially when you get chorizo! The breakfast burritos took a while to make and I figured they’ be a bit quicker since i was the only one it there at the time. Oh well, they were worth the wait. Not a ton of seating and the parking lot can get pretty full on lunch, but still a solid 4 stars here!

This place has quite a big menu but the set up is just very strange, the meat menu was on the right side by the door and the cash register is on all the way to the left. So when I forgot what other meat to order i haf to run all the way on the other side. decided to take a pic to save myself few trips This got me tripping, there were NO price listed for the tacos. So after i ordered thinking it was 1 $ each, my total end up being 17 $ for 6 tacos, i got confused, and then had to ask how much per taco.2.59 for home made tortillas and some meat is not bad, very expensive since it didnt come with no drinks or soup. Ended up getting the barbacoa tacos and cabeza, $ 9 with the soup, remember to check in for a BONUS taco(carnitas only) The meat was so oily and fatty, soft but all of the three meat had BONES inside! Little bones that could actually choke a person to their grave. I guess they wanted the«to die for» tacos. Jamaica is fresh though, will come back for the drinks other than that wont come back for the food

They have such a HUGE menu and everything is homemade(yes, tortillas too), they also have fresh food out in the display that is changed every couple days to a new item. Everything is made fresh daily and is absolutely wonderful. Their beans are really good, I’m not sure how their made(with lard or not) but they are really creamy and delicious. The best thing actually is their rice because I can finally come to a place that knows how to cook it properly. It’s not squishy and gross and has tons of flavors. That’s my kinda rice. They sell beer here as well. My favorite is their Michelada! It’s the bomb. I love coming here. I really recommend it to anyone who like authentic Mexican food. This is DEFINITELY not Tex-Mex style.

Las ESTRELLAS es para la comida todo es delicioso, me encanda la barbacoa de este lugar. Deben mejorar su servicio tardan horas en despachar y aparte se les olvida poner la carne a tu torta. Si regreso aquí solo si el personal es mas nice.

The food is authentic Mexican food and takes you back to your abuela’s kitchen. This place is a store front little hole in the wall but best Mexican food in Huntington beach. They have a variety of meat, and vast menu of delicious dishes. I had the carnitas and it was fantastic. I’m pretty picky about my food but there is nothing bad to say. The food surpasses most 5 star restaurants. First glance you may not think this place is all that but taste the food and it will surprise your taste buds. You will definitely want to come back to sample the rest of their menu. Definite recommend!!!

Best tasting tacos ever barbacoa and cabeza is bombb as heck! El pastor is also really good. I’m not always a big fan of Mexican food, but this place is legit, especially for being in HB. Btw try hurache, sooo good. The fresh tortillas make a huge difference.

Made a stop on the road to grab a bite. Had the chilaquiles with steak(plus some fried eggs). Everything was delicious. The steak was nicely cooked, the eggs perfect, the sauce delicious! Plenty of items on the menu, so be sure to find something you’ll enjoy. The only thing to watch out for is seating as there are no tables but rather one long table with chairs along the wall. A bit snug, but well worth it!

Authentic MEXICAN food. This place is known for its Barbacoa, but everything is good(except for the Caldo de pescado, don’t get that). Not the cleanest place, you might have a runny poop the next day, but it will totally be worth it. Take it from me, I’m The DUKE!!!

The food is okay and cheap. I tried the menudo and that was really bad, I will not recommend that to anyone. However, the other items that I have tried there are good. If you want something cheap and filling this is the place to go.

Definitely authentic Mexican food! I have never been to a Mexican restaurant where they have so many dishes to choose from that it’s hard to pick. The look and feel of this place is authentic as well. You really feel like you are dining in Mexico. The place is small and crowded nothing extravagant but I loved it. I bought a chicken quesadilla($ 5.19) it was the biggest quesadilla I have ever had. The tortilla was hand made and the cheese was amazing. So if you want to just get away from the everyday Cali Mexican food restaurant, I would advice you to cross over to this Real Mexican restaurant. Don’t forget your Sombrero, boots and your snake skin belt! Leave your tapatío at home you won’t need it here! ;-p

Some of the best AUTHENTIC Mexican food in OC. This is a straight up hole in the wall, with only bar seating. Everything is hand made here. My type of place!!! I had the Borrego Mixiote, and a quesadilla de carne surtida con todo, and of course a caguama de corona familiar. Both were excellent. Best mixiote I’ve had. Quesadilla was HUGE, made with a hand-made tortilla and it was stuffed with toppings. The beer was expensive, like $ 8 for the 32oz. But I ain’t complaining. If u can’t afford to eat out, stay at home. Can’t wait to go back and see what other delicious food they have.

First off, this place certainly feels authentic. 80% of the menu is in Spanish! Small, not really clean hole in the wall. What you’d expect from every other Mexican joint out there. I didn’t like that I could see all the food being prepared… felt like I was going to leave with a foodbourne illness. First off the menu is way too big and loooong. You’d literally have to walk from counter end to counter end to read it all. I had no idea what I was looking at. Finally settled on a chicken super burrito + a free chicken taco with Unilocal checkin. Large burrito(think chipotle size) stuffed with rice, beans, lettuce, and cheese. Chicken is major lacking, couldn’t even tell there was any in there. Chicken taco was mediocre. Chicken itself was flavorless. Even though there were a few people ahead of me, the wait was way too long. Not sure if I’ll be back.

There are 2 sentences in the English language that when paired together, are the most beautiful words you ever want to hear when looking for Mexican food. «Hole in the wall» and«hand made tortillas» This place qualifies with high flying marks on both. When you walk in, you see a salsa station, telenovelas on the TV, and an extensive menu above the register where the names of the food only in Spanish. Not to mention the open bar behind the window with every type of meat you could want served in the Mexican tradition, all available for bulk purchase by the pound . Everything was fresh, authentic and delicious. I have nothing bad to say, my belly is full and my over-spiced mouth is happy. Live well my friends.

This is my fourth visit here. I just love it! The staff are friendly, it’s authentic And the food is outstanding! Also filling, great prices! I come on weekend for then menudo soup. To die for. I cannot make it at home, it takes too long and labor intensive. And I’m not Mexican. But today I ordered the Don Victor Molcajrtr Ranchero explosion! It’s a mole grinder filled to the rim with differnt cuts of meat, grilled cactus and onions. Amazzzzzzing! Also got the spicy peanuts next to the register. They are super spicy but addictive. Great with beer! They have some chili line salt and they are soooo yumm! I def recommend you check them out. These guys are authentic! And the best partnofnthe food? The hand rolled tortillas! To die for

Sorry Fiesta grill 2 for cheatin on ya: D So moms and I were STAAAAAARVIN. We wanted to try something new. Plus I saw the pics of the huaraches and I had to come in!!! We walk in and this place is pretty small. A real hole in the wall. The display of hot stewed meats looked incredible. The cactus looked amazing, nice and moist. I came in wanting a huarache but the menu will easily distract you from ordering what you originally wanted: D I really wish they would label the glass so I don’t keep asking what meats what lol. Seating is somewhat uncomfortable. Pretty much seats against the wall and seated at a counter type deal. So if you’re one of those paranoid folks, hating when people brush behind you, you may want to eat outside LOL I stuck to the huarache dish and ordered mine with carne asada and a carnita taco. Mom ordered a chili verde burrito but got a carne asada burrito with chili verde sauce over it lol. We thought he got it wrong but it was really a language barrier because he didn’t have pork chili verde hehe. Oh well she still tore up that burrito. I didn’t taste it. But it looked BOMB and they definitely do not skimp on the meat givings here. My huarache was so good. Its like a longer flatter version of a sope. Their tortillas are homemade and makes a huge difference than most places that double up your tacos and such. The huarache has a spread of refried beans first. Its not spread on with a heavy hand, thank god! I usually don’t like my refried beans within my dishes. I usually like it on the side. It just adds moisture to the tortilla. Then a heavy dose of carne asada through out the plate, cotijia cheese, a drizzle of crema and sliced avocado. This dish is GOOOOOOD! Every bite was so damn good and even the next day, it held up great and tasted just as good. Only gripe I have is the lack of REAL utenzils. How the hell can I cut this dish in pieces. I could only imagine getting one of their steak or pork chop dishes and trying to cut those pieces with flimsy plastic forks and knives –_– My carnita taco was crack!!! Add a little green salsa and it becomes a perfect bite!!! My mom instantly fell in love with this and asked me to order three to go. The meat was cooked perfectly and the meat was well seasoned! Oh and the cantaloupe fresca was insanely good. Very addicting. Great way to cool down if hot. We left satisfied until we got home and looked and that mofo didn’t add any cilantro and onions to our tacos!!! Why the hell would you do that, if we just ate our taco with onion and cilantro??? Second was today(Oct 24th) The meats still looked BOMB. They seem to have specials all the time so what you see in the glass case one week you might not see the next. I should have gotten this chicken dish with a ton of mushrooms to go. Their display is beyond awesome of meats. I can’t stop talking about it LOL! This visit we just did tacos. Three carne asadas, two carnitas and one al pastor. Poor girl at the register did not understand nor speak any English. I used to speak Spanish back in the day and lost all of it so I could only understand bits and pieces. I only wanted avocado on two tacos but she didn’t understand and we avocado on all of the tacos. Well im glad my mom and I love avocado, so it was ok. They really need to have someone speaking English. One were in HB, you know how many BroHoes can possibly come through and second, it just makes CENTS(wink wink) if you want to expand your clientele. The tacos were good, they definitely needed that green taco with the carne asada. It also needed some cheese, maybe I was just having memories of that huarache: D The al pastor taco was deliiiish. It was cooked perfectly, it would have been nice to have that touch of pineapple like I would have at Taqueria two guys. That pineapple would be a nice balance to cut the fat of the pork. That taco was the winner since my mom compared TOOOOOO much about our first visit to this one. She said her carnitas weren’t as flavorful and the tortillas didn’t taste as super fresh. So next time were coming in earlier. We still left satisfied. She just didn’t get that wow factor like the first visit. Most definitely we will be back. That menu is large with options I never usually see at other Mexican eateries. I can’t wait to taste the cactus dishes and variety of meat specials.
