I have been a patient of Dr. Tran since 2007. Dr. Tran and her staff are nothing but caring and very professional people and I highly recommend them.

So I brought my mom here a few months back because she needed new glasses and this place is close to home. I’ve actually had the pleasure to meet Dr. Gottlieb in the past and I have nothing but good things to say about him, he’s very personable and very smart. I was super bummed that he doesn’t primarily work this location anymore so we were forced to deal with Dr Tran. Maybe we caught her on a bad day. she greeted us with a terrible B**** face that I literally wanted to run away, but again my mother needed her eyes checked so I stayed put. She answered my mom’s inquiries about contacts, with sighs of exasperation. She just seemed annoyed that we were taking her time. It truly is a shame that some people don’t enjoy what they do. I do have to say the office is clean, very organized and they carry a huge selection of designer glasses. The girls at the front desk are very nice, maybe they can offer some pointers to Dr. Tran. I added a star for them, otherwise this review would only be 1 star. My mom paid her fees & ultimately decided to not purchase her glasses here and went with a different office where we were treated with respect and given attention. I feel bad leaving a not happy review, just want to let people know our experience so that they know what they’re in for :(

A trip to the eye doctor sucks. I mean unless you are excited about glasses??? or new contacts??? However, a trip here is comfortable and not awkward. I have no problem coming here and getting my eyes checked. I have been checked by both Dr. Tran and Dr Gottlieb, and they are both great. I see Dr. Tran much more though since she seems to be the one that is there all the time. Crystal and the girls at the front desk are always fun to chat with and they give you all the info you need for your glasses and contacts. They are great at helping you make a decision on your glasses too otherwise I would probably still be there right now.

I woke up with a scratched eye on a Saturday morning. I am very near-sighted and only had contact lenses, but of course, couldn’t wear one of them and so I really couldn’t see well. I also did not have a regular optomitrist. I phoned Dr. Tran’s office and her staff members were so informative, efficient, and accommodating. I was able to see Dr. Tran right away. Dr. Tran was very knowledgeable and so kind. She examined my eyes, provided me with needed eye drops to heal the scratch, updated my prescription, helped me get glasses(and her office had a wonderful assortment of frames — way broader than any mall eye frame store or Costco. I am so impressed with Dr. Tran and so excited I found her! I normally do not write online reviews, but Dr. Tran and her staff are so worthy of praise, I just had to let others know. I highly recommend Dr. Tran in H.B. She is truly wonderful!

I’ve been wearing contacts and glasses for 14 years. With having new insurance, I came here to get an annual eye exam. I only heard about this place because it was nearby my house. I called and they schedule me for an eye exam a week later. My day came and I came in with the intention of getting a new contact prescription and glass prescription. I was hoping to max out my insurance for the year, but not pay anymore since I still have contacts and glasses sitting at home. The girls at the front desk were nice and informative. Prior to anything, they told me to take out my contacts and toss them. They didn’t give me a contact container like other optometrist places I have been to. Then the girls at the front did my manual visual field testing. After my manual visual field test, they asked me if I wanted the back of my eyes checked for a $ 60 charge. They told me they would take a photo but I can think about it before the doctor looks at it and charges me. This is basically a photo they take of the back of your eye(something that an ophthalmologist normally does). After, I met with Dr. Tran. I thought she was okay. She wasn’t friendly or not nice. After evaluating my eyes, Dr. Tran didn’t ask me about the $ 60 back of the eye check, she just kind of went into it and started explaining. I didn’t mind because I wanted her to check anyway, however, if you were coming in and didn’t want it looked at or her to charge you, you may be out of luck. After being seen by Dr. Tran, I did get to try on a new brand of contacts. She pushed a brand towards me but I didn’t feel comfort. I told her I thought it didn’t work for me and she told me it was my opinion but 99% of people like it. Awesome, but three times the price of what I am using now and didn’t feel any better than what I had. So I tried on a different type and went with that. I thought it was hilarious whenever they would give me a sample and ask for it back after when I changed my mind on the different brands. I’ve never had that happen before. Not that I care for the pity samples but other places I’ve been to give you different sample options to test at home for a few days to see what works for you. So then comes the bill. Of course they do not tell you the cost of anything prior to the exam. Other places I have been to do. However, the friendly girls in the front did go over with me the break down cost after. Before deciding I felt rushed. I had some questions and the doctor basically just left. Like left for the day. She didn’t give me what I wanted and wanted to schedule another appointment with me. I do not have time. So I just went ahead and made a decision. My insurance covered part my eye stuff and I paid $ 60 for the exam and another $ 40 for getting the back of my eyes check($ 100 out of pocket not including my glasses). Would I come back? With plenty other places that my insurance covers, most likely not. The inside of this place is clean but small. It’s located facing the street surrounded my office spaces.

Extremely helpful staff, great service from beginning to end. They have plenty of styles, I’m very picky and I found a nice frame that I liked. The front desk staff is exceptional, and the lady Doctors attention to detail is magnificent. Never been so comfortable wearing glasses

Well this was a major let down. The doctor and staff seemed very nice and everything went smoothly on my initial visit. They had preapproved my insurance and said they were clear on the benefits. I was quoted a price on sunglasses and lenses fort regular glasses. They added a $ 48 few in case the lenses were considered«oversized» which seemed ok. I was called the following day and was told, «good news, the fee is not needed and your total will be $ 48 less». Sounds great, right? Well two hours later I got called and was told“no, actually it’s going to be $ 120 more than we had discussed”. Needless to say this cost them my business today and in the future. A decent business would honor their price(which I had paid in full in advance) instead of trying to squeeze a few more bucks after the fact. I chose this place because they were the closest facility to my home that took my insurance. I’ll be making the drive across town next time…

Went to this optometrist for the first time about a year ago due to my father recommending them. When I went, staff was friendly and service was quick. We had ordered glasses, when i received them the prescription was completely wrong. After getting my eyes reevaluated they finally got the right prescription. I went back(I lived in Rancho Cucamonga at the time) and picked up my new glasses, They were great. Update: I do have the right office, I have your business card sitting in front of me. Wishing I could now give this office ZERO stars. The problem occurred 6, yes, only 6 months later when the arms of my glasses both popped completely off. Now, I am a lifetime glasses wearer, and am very gentle with my glasses so I know for a fact this could not have been from being rough with them. After inspecting them, it appeared that the glasses were held together by a post attached to the lens side and a small hole where the post is inserted on the arms, it also was JUST held together by some tacky glue. Amazing that a pair of $ 200 glasses were made so poorly. Now since I live so far, I can’t keep driving back and forth with two young children to keep getting them fixed. Now after having to super glue my glasses together every week for the past 6 months I’m Finally able to go see a optometrist that’s close by and HOPEFULLY get working glasses. Moral of the story, make sure your optometrist office is close by, and make sure the glasses are actually held together by screws instead of glue.

Extremely helpful, courteous, friendly, and professional staff: From making an appointment over the phone(and they squeezed me in the same day) — to the moment I walked in — through the whole process of my eye exam — best customer service I’ve received. Also, they have high-tech equipment for eye exams that leaves no grey areas. I walked out feeling comfortable and confident that my prescription will be perfect. Their staff is extremely friendly and go out of their way to help you. Crystal helped me from picking out the best frames for me through all the initial eye tests. And Dr. Tran in my opinion is the very best in SoCal. I’m so excited to be getting new reading glasses which I now need in my 40’s! Thanks Dr. Tran and staff!

My first time here & I guess I came in on a busy day so it seem that there was some miscommunication. I wanted contact lens exam, but somehow I ended up paying for contact & glasses exam out of pocket. My insurance covered for glasses exam, which I didn’t need to spend extra money. I even bought the Unilocal deals hoping to save a buck or so, but I guess not! I should have asked what I was charged for but I was already running late for my next appointment. My point is, make sure they know what you came in for. For the services, it was clean, thorough, and knowledgeable. They have wide ranges of high end brands of glasses from Gucci to Tiffany. Wish I could’ve given 5 stars if I didn’t have this problem.

This is an extremely professional, top-notch Eye Doctors office. The staff is very warm and welcoming. I had an excellent experience with the two front desk girls; Tiffany & Crystal They both went out of their way for me. In the middle of a very busy day, they checked my insurance to see if I had optometry coverage.(My eye exam only is covered.) It took quite a while on the phone, as the insurance companies are very busy this month due to the new affordable healthcare act. I was extremely grateful. The office is extremely well-organized, clean and well lite. And the equipment appears to be new, updated, and clean. Nothing old in this office. Which I really appreciate. Dr. Tran is very thorough and really knows her stuff. She took a lot of time with me and explained everything to me. And she took the time to answer a lot of my questions. As I haven’t been to an eye doctor in several years. Reason being; I hate sitting around and waiting for my name to be called! This place is so well organized, I didn’t wait but 5 minutes to be taken in and the office was very busy. Dr. Tran is top-notch. I used to see a very well known Eye Surgeon for my eye exams and Dr. Tran is probably better than him.(Not to mention, much more affordable.) I can’t really see where there’s room for improvement in this office. They seem to really know what their doing, Well organized, new equipment, clean and very affordable.(I called several other eye doctors in HB& this place has very good cash prices.) Make an appointment with Dr. Tran, you will be glad you did.

The office staff(Springdale St.) was extremely helpful in getting my wife and I scheduled on short notice. When I arrived they spent the first 20 minutes or so sitting with me looking for new frames instead of just letting me sit and wait for the time it took Dr. Tran to finish appointment before mine. We looked over at least a dozen frames and the two ladies helped me decide(with my wife’s final approval of course) which frame to choose from. Dr. Tran examined my eyes and was very informative with the special circumstances regarding my eyes. All in all, I’m a fan and will be going back for future exams and frames/lenses.

UPDATE I was contacted by Cassie in Dr. Trans office wanting to discuss the problem with my contacts. She asked that I come in and be seen by another doctor. She had someone evaluate my chart and they felt that my new prescription was an over correction. I did have to ask why the sudden change of heart. She honestly responded that she read my review on Unilocal but was very glad I posted it. Otherwise, she would never have known about the problem. She also mentioned that the girl I dealt with previously had been taken aside and told that she did not handle the situation properly and should have taken my issue and request to the doctor instead of making the decision herself. This was all I really asked from the beginning and was happy to hear this. I went in and saw Dr. «V». She was very nice, thorough and apologetic for the problems I’d had. The first contact she had me try(it was only my right eye that was the problem apparently) seemed to work fine. They told me to try it for a week and call back to let them know if it was OK. I received a follow up call from Cassie and told her everything was fine. She told me to bring in the contacts I’d purchased that were not right and they would swap them out for the correct prescription. I brought them in and three days later I received a call that the correct contacts were in. I happened to be in another store in the mall and I was told that even though they closed in 10 minutes, they would wait for me. I went in picked up my contacts and was on my way. I really appreciated the efforts of Cassie and Dr. V and the other staff that helped to make this situation right. I will return to this office to see Dr. Tran or Dr. V and Cassie is amazing in my book. This is what customer service and satisfaction is all about.

I get my vision exams done by Dr. Thao Tran. She’s a graduate of the UC Berkeley School of Optometry. It’s mainly her practice these days since Dr. Gottileb is usually at one of his other locations. Usually I can just walk in and she’s able to see me immediately unless there’s someone else ahead of me. If there’s a wait, I just head over to Hot Dog on a Stick for a lemonade and come back. I also get my prescription Oakley frames here.

(Note: This review pertains only to the Westminster Mall location. They have two other locations in Santa Ana and Lakewood.) I have had very solid, very first-rate service with Gottlieb Optometry. I do not work for them, and they were able to hook me up with Oakley frames, though they do have other designers from Maui Jim to Ray-Ban and even the European designers, whether for sunglasses or regular glasses, and even contacts. Personable customer service. I saw them the day before I wrote this review, and was hooked up with contacts as well as glasses.(I went for contacts because I am starting to snowboard more often than not). No problems, no overcharges. Maybe this is because I’m lucky, I had the right insurance… or something else. I have done business with them since 2007, though. Note: Be sure to always compare optometrists, don’t take my word for it. Ask friends around. I think the only disadvantage with this Gottlieb Optometry is their location is in a mall that’s not one of the busiest in the coastal north OC area. UPDATE: Last year I have done a switch over to contacts. Eventually 2011 will be the year that I will get lasered-in eyes. Yes, the contacts were prescribed from here.
