A little hard to find, some signs in the industrial maze would have helped us find it sooner. I really liked the hang 5. The my wife loved citra. The tripel was missing something, can’t quite put my finger on it. Take advantage of the half off pint deal from Unilocal. Good music, friendly staff, quick service. We tried 8 beers and really only liked maybe half of them so that’s why the 4 stars but that may be a matter of taste more than execution. Still a good spot.

I’m glad I got to check out this brewery while I was visiting my hometown! It’s about two years old so unfortunately, I moved right when they opened. This is located in an industrial area but is clearly marked when you drive up to it. They have a fitting surfer/beach them going on with surfboards to hold the beers and art for sale on the wall. The décor was minimal, but who cares about that?! We are here for the beer! Now the beer itself was okay– I loved the ruski noir. They also brought some really unique citrus flavors to some of the beers. Personally, a few of them were almost too tangy for me but I guess that’s just preference. This is a rather small space, but I really liked how they utilized their space and fit a lot of seating in. The prices are reasonable and it’s a really chill vibe in there. Make sure you check in so you get 50% off your first pint!

Awesome microbrewery hidden deep in a business, warehousey area. The brews here are all draft, hand crafted beers of all different flavors. What I loved the most was how inexpensive the beers were ranging from $ 4 — $ 8. I thought the ruski noir, citra wipa, hang 5 ipa, and mosaic sesh were good, but the best was the gnarly monk. The brewery has a very chill ambiance. TVs are setup to enjoy any games that are on. They also have some board games, darts and other fun bar games to play while you lounge around. Customers are also welcome to bring food or order in while enjoying the ambiance with good company.

The beers were creative and I like most of them. Hang 5IPA and Ruski Noir were my definite favorites. Our group thought I favored high alcohol varieties and I don’t really deny that. They always rinse the glasses, with a upside-down sprout, before pouring and that’s interesting to me. It is really meant for growlers, I assume, but why not use it more? There is really no foods in this facility and that’s generally a problem for me. I really like to have munches while I drink.

Tried this place over the weekend for the first time and wasn’t really impressed. Got a flight of tasters and nothing really stood out that made me want to buy a pint or take home a bottle. Was a little disappointed that even their IPA was out of stock. Tap room is fairly small and noticed that no kids are allowed, which is kind of a bummer for those with families.

Nothing incredibly special about this place. The beer is pretty traditional — some hit the mark and some missed it. The service was pretty good and the price was right, especially with the check in deal on pints. The pale ale was great but the beach cruiser was not my favorite. A good place to grab a pint with small crowds, a chill atmosphere, and decent beer. Not the best not the worst. Would come back if I was in the area but not go out of my way.

A very beer-centric theme and feel. Open warehouse with exposed brewing equipment. Not real polished and the food provided by a high quality food truck. Compares to nearby 4-brothers, but I felt the beer was better. It’s great that HB has places like this to offer.

Fresh local beer and this brewery has a variety of beers on tap beside your typical ales. Pilsners, imperial stouts and session IPA’s to name s few. Mellow atmosphere.

I came here on a Wednesday for a quick brew on my way home back to vista ca. Glad I stopped! The atmosphere was nice and cool unlike other brewery’s that I’ve been to without AC. It has a cool beachy theme to it, cool music playing and most importantly delicious beer! I ordered the PCH Pale Ale which was served to me nice and cold! I’d definitely come back!

Another great beer place. Chill place with cool music made for beer drinking. The place is a nice size with a beach theme and plenty of TVs for sports. I had the Pierside Pilsner which was great. This place over all makes great beer. Please get the Sunuva Beach with passion fruit.

Very cool place that allows outside food! Very common to see pizza delivery guys coming in for deliveries. Love that! Beers are above avg too — and I love supporting local microbrews instead of other big guys. Prices are fair.

I love coming here. The people are super friendly and accommodating and the beer is solid. The tasting room is not huge but well put together. Nice seating with a big TV for watching sports while enjoying the beer. The staff in the tasting room are great and do a terrific job to take care of everybody that comes in. If any of the brewers are there they will chat with you and answer questions about the beer. The beer itself as I mentioned is solid. PCH Pale Ale, Beach de Garde, and Ruski Noir are the stand outs to me. I can drink A LOT of these beers. I don’t think I have had a beer here that I didn’t like. They do a great job of keeping the tasting room stocked with a nice variety of styles and executing nicely on those styles. If you are looking for an up and coming brewery that is still a hidden gem check this place out! Cheers!

What an environment! Maybe it was the fact it was a Friday night with the U.S. Open of surfing right next door, but currently I sit next to a family with friends playing CAH(acronym, figure it out), 4 high school friends playing an even stranger game and a meet up of 30 people destroying the corn hole outside. The vibe is pretty exciting. The music is spot on for a mid-20’s guys taste. And the beer has enough flavor to show up regardless of the atmosphere. Plus, the employees = great beards. #winning

Good local beer. Location is a bit hidden in the industrial area of HB. I had a taster and tried the Hang 5IPA(7%); very hoppy but smooth. Also tried Dankapotamus(Double IPA8.7%) which is pretty yummy, hoppy but goes down so smooth. They also have a pretty yummy Drought stout(6.3%)on nitro and if you love coffee this is the beer for you. Overall another great local brewery that you need to out on your list to try.

Hang 5IPA is what a west coast IPA should be. Thank you beach city. If you love sculpin you will love hang 5. Bitter sweet and dry, fresh and hoppy. Amazing aroma and a delicious aftertaste that flirts with your palate hours after consumption! MOREPLEASE Oh and bring some yummy good vegan food to eat!!! Avoid the meat sweats people.

We visited Beach City Brewery one evening for an Ale tasting. The brewery is an industrial park setting. Inside — the seating area is rather small. We tasted: PCH Pale Ale(5.5% ABV) — nicely hoppy with a crisp, bitter finish! Delicious! I really like this Pale Ale! I could drink this one regularly! Hang Five IPA(7% ABV) — very hoppy, with lots of citrus, piney, resiny, notes with a gorgeous copper color! Another favorite of mine! Hang Ten IPA(10% ABV) — I love double IPAs, but this one is not amongst my favorites. It came across to me as very heavy on the alcohol — which it is due to it’s ABV — but it failed to balance that with flavor. One Legged Black IPA — Another excellent black IPA! Came across as a Cascading style dark ale — nice mix of roasted malt flavors intertwined with hops. Not sure about the ABV on this one — it’s not currently listed on the brewery web site! Another favorite of mine! Overhead Barley Wine(13% ABV) — this is a potent beverage! I’m not typically a fan of Barley Wine — oft times they come across as heavy alcohol content for the sake of heavy alcohol content — but this one does not! A nice mix of hops and fruit notes! This is the kind of beverage I’d expect to see being served at remote Inns in Middle Earth and Westeros! Sweet Crude Oatmeal Stout(5.6% ABV) — a nice dark, earthy stout. The folks working here were nice. I really like this brewery and would highly recommend it!

First time here, in an industrial area like many craft breweries. Tasted a really good barleywine«Overhead» and had a 12 oz tulip of their DIPA«Hang Ten. They were both excellent. Another good micro to put on my list of hangouts. The truck food was excellent, wish I could remember the name. Had an Italian style hot roast pork sandwich with toppings and it went sooo well with the beer I had that all I could think was that this was as close to heaven as I’ll ever get. ;) It was a very good sized sandwich for truck proportion and filled me up for less than $ 10 with tip. The mix of people seemed cool. There were a few brewpies/groupies hanging out and the rest we’re local guys and gals. Some nice looking ladies to add to everything else good about this place. As with many micro/craft breweries you kinda gotta weave your way around in an industrial area to find it. So map this one out from Unilocal ahead of time.
