Animal Hospital Of Huntington Beach

I was so disappointed with this hospital and the staff. My dog was dying and I had to get meds every month from there. Each time I would call in for meds I would get grilled from the staff before getting the meds my dog so desperately needed. I will Never recommend this place!!!

Honestly, I can’t imagine having a better experience than I had with Dr. Stephanie Gross. My dog was extremely sick and breathing rapidly, I rushed him in and though I was very emotional and concerned, the front desk sensed my urgency and brought him straight in to see Dr. Gross. It turned out to be very minor, but Stephanie addressed all my concerns and was both very professional and also very friendly. I could really sense that she is living her passion with the way I saw her interact with my dog. Cant recommend her, or this establishment enough.

Today I finally decided to write a review about this hospital.
The first experience I had with this hospital is when I boarded my two dogs. When my husband picked up the dogs they peed in the car. My dogs never did that before. When I spoked to the owner of Animal Hospital of Huntington Beach she never apologized. Well I figured I would just send my dogs to PetSmart on Edinger, they have a Pet Hotel.
Then the second experience was today. The 1^st of January was time for me to give my 4.5 pound Maltese her Trifexis pill for flees. I had spoken to Dr. Gross about giving my Sofia a dosage that was for 5 pound and up. She said it wouldn’t be a problem. Well my little Sofia was lethargic, staring in space and twitching. I called to speak to Dr. Gross about this and when I got a phone call back it was a receptionist. I said I wanted to speak to Dr Gross. When the receptionist came back on the line she said Dr Gross said Sofias symptoms were normal and if she had the same problem next month to call back and she would change the dosage.
I couldn’t becleive it. First she didn’t call me back and second she expected me to put my dog through the same horror again.
I am totally disappointed in this hospital and am now looking for a new one.

I made the mistake of seeing Dr. Celinder for only a routine check up as I needed to get my dog’s anal glands expressed. This should have been a simple and quick appointment however, I was severely disappointed. Dr. Celinder was pushing us to do tests that were unnecessary such as a fecal test when my 10 ½ year old dog does not have any other health concerns. When I politely declined these tests she continued to push them on me and then insulted me for not doing them!
If I had not worked for a veterinarian for 9 years I would have felt guilty for not doing these tests and spent an extra 100 dollars. The worst part of all this was this office came highly recommended to me and I already recommended it to 2 other people before this experience. Having worked for an amazing vet who retired I get asked A LOT about where I take my pets. I do not recommend this office based on my first experience. And I have the WORST taste in my mouth for Dr. Celinder.

They show that the employees really value the quality of care that each pet receives. Very helpful and reassuring during those stressful moments while your cherished family pet is hurting or foing through trama. I would highly reccomend taking your beloved furry child to get seen here. Awesome attitudes all the way Around.

One of our dogs received a bath and full haircut today at this establishment. The groomer came out and discussed what we waned and was very attentive. It was very clean and one of the employees gave us a tour of the boarding facilities which were clean and well organized. The fish tank in the lobby was also clean and well taken care of which is a god indicator.

I am very ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ with this place. I have a french bulldog with bad skin allergies. He is always breaking out. The first time I went, Dr Fynaardt was our vet. He very successfully treated my boy and we went 9 months without a vet visit.
Most recently, he broke out again so bad that I wasn’t willing to wait for Fynaardt to be back in the office. We went with a different vet so we could get in asap and I specifically said «this is what we did, and this is what worked»
Well, according to this vet, «this is how she wants to treat it and every vet has their own preference.»
So after he gets off this vets preference of steroids, medicated shampoo, etc. his skin is so itchy that he is making himself raw and blistering.
Now I have to make another appointment for Dr. Fynaardt and spend more money getting the medication I should have received originally.
Bottom line: stick to your guns, go to your preferred vet and stick to what you know works. I’ve been to various vets 15 – 20 times in 2 years with this bulldog. I’m very familiar with his skin by now. Lesson learned.

I cannot begin to explain how much my husband and I love our precious 6 year old mixed dog Ruby that Mike found as an emaciated puppy on the streets of Pomona on 1÷9÷10. We were so blessed that day.
When Ruby spit out half of a broken tooth two days ago, we were horrified and had no idea where to go. Turns out there is only ONE board certified veterinarian dentist in all of Orange County, Dr. Eric Van Nice. Unfortunately, his assistant is notably UN-​nice. I called to make an appt and she told me they see patients by referral only. Wow. Very cold and unfriendly voice…
Where to turn as my regular Vet is now part time and hard to book? I scrolled the internet and found Animal Hospital of HB.
I did drive from my home in Fountain Valley to a practice in Laguna Hills for a consult because they had good reviews on Unilocal and could see Ruby as a walk in. The Vet there took 5 seconds to report, yes her tooth is fractured and we recommend extraction. Estimate of cost:
$ 300. This seemed exceedingly low and we felt she would «get the care we paid for».
We took a chance and scheduled an appt with Dr Nathan Fynaardt. He made a great impression on my husband. Their cost was double the other vet but included very important measures as pre-​op labs, ECG, IV sedation etc.
Ruby had her extraction and total deep clean of all teeth this am and I am happy to say that our little patient is currently sleeping soundly right beside me on our California King.
Dr Feynaardt called me at work as soon as the procedure was completed to tell me how well she did. I sincerely appreciated that.
I am a Registered Nurse who works in Labor and Delivery. I care about my patients but I LLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEE my doggie. I know confidence and pain control truly matter!!!
I feel so blessed to have randomly selected such a wonderful practice to take my beloved Ruby to, and I thank God that she did so well during her procedure.
This is the first of many, many years we will spend with Dr Fynaardt and the staff of AHHB.
I strongly recommend this practice to anyone who literally loves the hold CR&P out of their animal.

I recently got a wonderful Pembroke Welsh Corgi puppy and chose Animal Hospital of Huntington Beach as my place to get my puppy all of his shots and neutered.
THE GOOD:
It’s always a little crazy-​buzy in this place, but the staff are very helpful and sweet. They always made a big fuss over my puppy and made me feel special! I originally started seeing Dr. Kim, who I felt was a little bit of a know-​it-​all and made me feel like everything I was doing in «raising» my puppy was incorrect. I don’t know what happened, but after my second appointment, Dr. Kim was no longer with AHHB and I started seeing Dr. Ann. She is very sweet and understanding and was much less condescending. She saw my questions as a way to give suggestions and support, which I so appreciated.
THE BAD:
I knew I was paying more going to this place, but I thought it was okay because I felt like I was getting great service. 3 rounds of shots cost me around $ 400 (around $ 130 for each round). When it came time to get my puppy neutered, they quoted me a range between $ 475 and $ 800! Seriously? That’s when I knew they were for sure ripping me off.
I switched to a different vet and paid $ 79 for my neutering. The surgery was a success and the staff was just as sweet. I am SO glad I didn’t pay that outrageous amount.
I regret not price-​shopping around before I got my puppy, but I am glad that I switched before I went totally bankrupt!

Dr. Ann has been the vet for my rabbits for years and now my dog. She helped one of my rabbits pull through a bone infection that I never thought she would survive and helped instruct us how to feed her with a syringe and relieve her pain. Most recently, she has helped my dog with a broken nail that required surgery. She is always very kind and personable and helpful. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of care you receive. I strongly recommend bringing your pet here.

The staff is great and caring. This is the only place we’ve taken Winston at and we have no plan on switching anytime soon.

I don’t recommend this place at all. I called in to ask for a quote just browsing around for different vets that are close by. The girl who answered the phone was really pushy with me and kept trying to get my name down to look me up in the system when I already told her I was calling just for a quote. She still insisted to get my name down to schedule my pet to come in for a visit. The prices are over priced. There are plenty of other vets around here that care for your pets and wouldn’t charge you an arm or a leg. Save your money and go elsewhere. Don’t let anyone pressure you or be pushy with you! As soon as she was super pushy with me, I had to make it clear to her once again that I was only calling for a quote for the third time!

Dr Kim rocks! We’ve been taking our decrepit old German Shepherd to him for years, and also boarding her here in their private rehab area when we go out of town. Amazingly, he follows up after appointments to see how she is doing (!), which is more than I’ve had any people doctor do. Facility is always nice and clean, pricing is clear (but not cheap) and we don’t have to worry about our fuzzies when we’re out of town. Dr Ann also neutered our rabbit, and the operation went swimmingly and he’s never had a problem. All around good find; blessed be.

I couldn’t be happier with the service my pets have received here (and myself). The front desk and assistant staff are always friendly, helpful and loving and gentle with our furry ones. Our doctor is Dr. Burpo and she is best! Tonight we saw Dr. Dixon for the first time and she is just as awesome! I would, without reservations, recommend anyone to trust these wonderful people with your little ones!
And don’t forget to help out with blanket and towel donations! They can always use them. :)

Friendly and courteous staff was great! This was the first time here & I was referred here by my previous vet since I just moved down here. The doctor spent around an hour with us and answered all of my questions and was very friendly. He told the time to let my dog get comfortable with him. I will definitely keep going here!

When it was time for our beloved 16 year old shepherd-​golden mix to go to the «Rainbow Bridge» to wait for us, AHHB sent a vet and an aide to our house to help him gently on his way. This saved our old guy from the stress of a car ride and office visit. He passed peacefully in his own home, surrounded by love. Compassion, empathy and a gentleness that made a devastating day bearable — priceless.
Thank you AHHB! By the way, we’re bringing Bosley in today for what we call Doggie Day Spa. He loves you ladies!

We are so lucky to live right across the street from this vet! Even if we didn’t, it would be worth the drive for the care that Dr. Kim gives to our pets! We have been in and out of the vet’s office for the past 8 months or so with our black lab with various issues.
She was recently diagnosed with Addison’s Disease and Dr. Kim couldn’t have given her better care! He is always caring, listens intently and answers ALL questions. I’ve had him on the phone for 20 minutes and have emailed him several times and he always takes the time to make sure I am knowledgable!
He NEVER pressures us like other vets, to do more testing when unncessary and has helped us try to keep the cost down in any way he can (this disease is PRICEY!!).

I am livid with this place. I’m new to the area and have provided vet records from where I used to live that span 8 years. There had been a consistent treatment that I have used for my dogs skin allergy outbreaks that is well documented. My dog had been here before and I even have discussed this condition with the owner who is one of the vets. Well my poor boy just erupted in another outbreak and they are refusing to issue the medication that has successfully been used to treat him over the past 8 years. Well I could bring him in for another $ 60 office visit. Funny how that works. It’s a shame because I picked this place based on prior Unilocal reviews. I guess money rules the day here too, not an animals comfort or happiness. It’s a shame.

I wouldn’t take my pets anywhere else. The vets to see? Dr. Fynhaardt and Dr. Burpo! Both of these doctors treat your pets like their own, giving them the best care possible. You are never rushed during an appointment, which is easy to get. The front desk staff and vet techs are just as competent and friendly. You will not be disappointed with this animal hospital.
