While I have to agree with another reviewer that there is a wall of nail salon smell the second you walk in the door, once we got past it, it wasn’t as noticeable. Well, it was either that or we just grew accustomed to it… The kid got the catfish plate($ 4.99 for two pieces of catfish and fries), I got the catfish and shrimp combo plate(same as kid plus 6 fried shrimp), and the dude got the t-bone steak. My dinner and the dude’s came with a salad comprised of iceberg lettuce, a slice of tomato, and some carrot shavings.(Similar to salad à la Bill’s Café if you’ve ever had it; just add a slice of tomato.) It was obviously VERY fresh — nothing wilty, browning, or — thank heavens — slimy. There was a consistency to my thousand island dressing, which came in a Jell-O shot sized plastic ramekin, that I didn’t quite love(I’m sometimes a texture person), but it tasted fine. The rest of our food came out pretty quickly and HOT, which helped distract us from the wall o’ nail salon smell since it’s smelled GREAT. My catfish was perfect — cooked to white and flaky but not overdone, the fried shrimp was tasty, but my fries, while fresh and yummy, did seem a bit over-salted. I was surprised to have to ask for cocktail sauce seeing as my meal came with fried shrimp, but I did and was surprised at how good it was. It came in one of those big squeezy mustard/ketchup-type bottles, which I wasn’t expecting, but it was delicious. The dude enjoyed his steak(as did the kid and I when we both stole a bite), but in his curmudgeonly way, he didn’t like that they only had A1 sauce and no Heinz 57. Now, if only thy could get rid of the salon smell OR offer me a free pedicure while I wait for my catfish…

Every time I visit this place I am doubly amazed. First, I am amazed that this place is still in business. Secondly, I am amazed that the food has stayed consistently bland and average throughout the life of the restaurant. This is frozen deep fried food at its worst. Nothing here is fresh. Its terribly mediocre. However, it is cheap and there is never a wait. The rest of the family requests it and so I’m sure I’ll be back to sit and be amazed.

Walked in to be overwhelmed by the fumes coming from the nail shop next door. It was truly that strong. Place is owned by Asians who are doing nothing more than frying up frozen crab cakes, frozen shrimp and frozen fish fillets. The gumbo was disgusting and GREEN. Everything was sooooooo salty including the fried pickles. Way over priced as well. Worse than fast food and I’m not a picky eater. So bad I had to come on Unilocal to write a review.

Wanted to try something new last night. We picked Richie’s. Neither of us had ever been there before. I had the 2 fish 6 shrimp special with fries and a house salad with ranch. We ordered fried pickles for a starter. My wife had crawfish étouffée with a house salad also. Our salads came out and were basic, but fine, the fried pickles were OK also. My fish and shrimp was acceptable, but nothing special, the shrimp were the best thing I had but the fish was nothing special. My wife was disappointed with her crawfish étouffée, and did not finish it. Over all we were not satisfied with the food, and that is why I am giving the 2 star review.

Fresh seafood… always a pleaser… been coming since it opened… priced right… and fresh large frog legs not the overcooked small ones most serve… definitely worthy of trying if your into real fresh seafood. Service was very good, slad plain but your there for the seafood not the salad if you want a salad go to Souper salad…

There is nothing fancy about this restaurant in terms of ambiance. My husband and I went on a Friday night. It wasn’t terribly crowded so we were a little concerned being new to the area. We tried this on a whim, because we have every intention of giving all local restaurants a shot. They had Coke 0 so I was immediately a happy camper. I was watching the platters of fried seafood and humongous cheeseburgers coming out of the kitchen and began salivating. However, I exercised some caloric restraint and opted for the grilled shrimp(9 large shrimp), grilled veggies and dirty rice. My husband got the stuffed grilled catfish and same sides. Both entrees came with a salad which was nothing but iceburg lettuce and slice of tomato. The salad was boring and plain, dressing choices were basic, blue cheese, french, thousand island, ranch, honey mustartd, italian. No low fat, low cal options. I was a little concerned. Our food came out piping hot. We had to wait and let it cool which I find a rare occurence in most restaurants today. I was happy! The shrimp were large and there were 9 on the plate. They were very flavorful with the right amount of spice. The veggies were cut into big pieces sauteed in olive oil and cooked just right for me. I’m from the south and I’m not crazy about cooked veggies that are still crunchy. These were the right texture for me. The dirty rice… was sooooooo good. I find dirty rice to be a mushy, bland side that gets no attention at some restaurants. I looooved this dirty rice. The rice was perfectly cooked and it had a good cajun pop to it. I’m not usually a fan of any stuffed seafood but my husband orders seafood dishes stuffed just about everywhere we go. I took a bite and really was surprised at how much I liked this. First of all, catfish is not a fish that I eat grilled. I love grilled fish but southern girls eat their catfish fried. I couldn’t believe how much I liked this dish. It was yummy! My husband loved it. Our service was awesome! We never had to ask for anything and they offered to pour us huge to go cups to take our tea and coke on the road. The cost of our entrees were around 10.00 each and included the bland salad. I was shocked! For 10.00 I wouldn’t typically expect even a bland/plain salad to be included on a grilled shrimp dish with two sides. It was good quality and flavor for the price. A similar dish at chain seafood restaurants would have been twice the price for the same quality. That’s why I gave it a 4.
