After requesting quotes from various gold buyers, I ventured into Gold Buyers of Texas and encountered the very knowledgeable and candid owner, Rick Simmons. Although it took a bit of education beforehand and a few minutes of negotiation, Rick offered the best overall evaluation of the gold pieces I was interested in selling, and very quickly offered what I considered a fair price based on the day’s gold trading rates. Other buyers in the area, including the much advertised Gold and Silver Buyers, lowballed their offer by more than $ 300 (for only one of the three pieces) until I produced the documented quote from Rick Simmons. Gold and Silver Buyers then changed their tune and insisted they would match Rick’s offer, but by then I’d lost confidence in their ethics, knowledge and expertise, and decided to forego the minimal additional amount they offered and plan to return to Rick at Gold Buyers of Texas, who I consider more honest up front.
