Friend Lumber & Building Centers

I like to support smaller local businesses when I can and will even pay slightly higher prices as often you can get to know the business owner and develop a relationship. After three visits to Friend Lumber I’m going to go back to driving another 2 minutes across the bridge to Lowe’s.
–First visit — Two guys were playing video games and we’re put off that I asked them to pause it to help me get some paint.
–Second visit — Returned to get more paint of the same color. Showed the kid at the counter the color description on the container I had purchased the day before and he entered it into the computer to mix it. I noticed the numbers he entered didn’t match the ones on the label and asked him about it. He said «it’s fine, it’ll be the same». I (stupidly) trusted him and found it was a completely different color when I got home. Went back to the store to for my…
–Third visit — They exchanged the paint and mixed the correct color. The previous two experiences were mentioned to the manager. No apology or attempt at making the customer happy was made.

It seems like when you own a home, you can’t get anything done if you don’t have a truck.
