Willie’s Grill & Icehouse

I can’t honestly comment on the food as I wasn’t there long enough to get our meal. This was to be our first experience at Willie’s and from the beginning all was going well till we needed our drinks. I made a rookie mistake and didn’t know the cashier should have given us our drinks before being seated. So I had to go back to the cashier and ask for them. The cashier’s were pretty busy and not their fault so I asked another young lady for ice as I had gotten empty cups from the bar, her comment «they’ll get you your drinks» as in the cashiers then she tried to get me to pick up some cups that were sitting at the bar with half melted ice. I reminded her that they were really busy assisting other customers and all I needed was ice for our drinks. She pointed again at the cashiers and said «they have to get it for you» … That was the straw that broke the camels back for me. This young lady couldn’t just get us some ice? I had my wife and son get their coats, apologized to our waiter, explained the situation to him and excused ourselves out of the restaurant.
The management did come to apologize for the whole fiasco and even went as far as offering a free meal before I even left the parking lot but by this time I was just very disappointed and wanted nothing more to do with Willie’s Grill. I thanked him for his apology and said have a good evening.
I will say that I was very impressed with the manager and our waiter for the way they handled everything. It was just too bad that this was all ruined by one person’s lack of customer service.

Absolutely awesome, the food was great, service was even better. We had the sampler platter all of it was freaking awesome. Fried pickles, beer battered onion rings, mushrooms, mozzarella sticks in fried jalapenos all on one platter we were too full for a main dish which we had bring home. The onion rings were humongous. We were all very impressed with the food and the service with everyone that we came in contact with. We will be back!

I ordered 12 wings, small batch of onion rings and ice tea. As always, this place is awesome.
I used to have dinner here every Friday evening when I lived in this area.
I will come here again, and I have zero complaints.

This place is roomy that even have a game room to have your children bug you about playing rip off video games! You spend $ 400 dollars on a home system, and at least $ 40 per game, and they are still trying to get a dollar to get a 2 minute turn on some video game that isn’t even up to date! Alas, I digress and get back to this place. The dining experience is really pretty and comfortable in the spring, so I would recommend this place just on ambience alone for the spring.
This place has had many come through, which is evident by the worn seating. One thing that boggled my mind is the ticket and order system. When you first come in, you stop by a huge menu board and pay for the food then. They have you take that food ticket to your table, and then the server comes and asks you if you still want what you already ordered. There are not any menus at the table, so why bother having the order ticket at your table? They should at least provide you menus at the table to possibly convince you to impulse purchase and/​or add on. Alas, I digress and will get to the food.
If you are into beer, it seems as though they have you covered with many bottled brews on ice. I am not a drinker, so that did not appeal to me. I did see boudin balls and a seafood platter that seemed as though it needed my attention, so I ordered those.
I must say, all in all, the food wasn’t bad, but nothing in regards to high wow factor to knock your socks off spice wise. They ensure that fries are in o plenty to ensure your stomach will be full. The boudin balls are ordered in a set amount, so no real surprise there. On the seafood platter, they actually are plenty generous with the various seafoods on the platter. I ordered the fried catfish, shrimp and crawfish tails, which all came out with good color, texture and crunch. As aforementioned, they are not high on the flavor scale here, but you definitely taste seasoning, so that is a plus.
All in all, if you want moderately priced seafood, that is not big on flavor, this place will not disappoint. Remember that they have a lunch punch card, so frequent eating there is rewarded. They even will punch your card twice on a Tuesday. The service was top notch, so you will not be upset tipping here.

Rudest, from entry to management. I saw a server made to cry by sparky. They’d qualify for Dick’s on the Riverwalk, SA.

The service was mediocre. Temperature of food was unacceptable (cold fries, lukewarm chicken tenders). The highlight was the buffalo sauce which I found to be the right balance of heat and flavor. Overall, I might return, but I would have lower expectations.

We were not planning to eat here today. We were going to Petsmart, but the smells were so intoxicating we decided to try it out. They have a great selection. Burgers, Salads, Seafood, Chicken, and sandwiches. The staff was also very helpful and friendly. Angie and Nathan took care of us today.
Now for the good stuff, the food. We had a pitcher of swirl margaritas… good thing I wasn’t driving. Good ritas. We had the fried mushrooms as an app, then fish tacos and catfish/​shrimp platter. Yum-​o. We will definitely go back.

Understaffed. We had to wait 20 minutes for our burgers. The weren’t many people there, but we still had to wait. They should hire more people at this location.

We have been here too many times to count, and its always amazing! Between my husband and I, we have ordered pretty much everything off the menu except for the gumbo. Being from Louisiana, I call myself a Cajun food snob. I’ve never had gumbo anywhere other than home that I’ve actually liked. Today, my craving was too much to bear. I caved in and ordered seafood gumbo here. Oh, my god! It tastes just like home! Everything was perfect down to the crackers on the side. I feel like I shouldn’t have been as shocked as I am because everything else is always delicious. Even before tasting the gumbo, this was my favorite restaurant in the area.
Wait staff has always been very friendly and helpful, as well! You just can’t go wrong at Willie’s!

This is a casual place serving standard American country style dishes. A very laid back atmosphere.
We had nachos as a starter. It was a large portion. Plenty to share. They weren’t great, but if your looking for something to snack on while having a few beers, this wasn’t bad.
For dinner I had the chicken fried steak. Again, a very large portion, and again not great, but not bad. Cream gravy was thick/​pasty. Flavor was okay.
Based on other comments from the table we all agreed that this is more of a casual, have a few beers while you snack and chat, kind of place. if you’re looking for great food, this isn’t it.
Prices are reasonable for what you get.
There was some confusion about the ordering process. When you walk in you order your food and drinks. Then you take your ticket to the table where the waitress takes your tick, confirms your order, then takes your ticket to the kitchen. You pay after the meal, not at the front when you order.
This would be a good starting place for a night on the town.

The fried jalapeños were really good. The turkey burger was okay. The servers were friendly.

This is one our favorite places to eat ever. I haven’t found one thing I wasn’t crazy about on the menu. It’s a must try in Katy for sure.

We love wille’s! Service was super friendly, food was fresh, order to table was fast & accurate… only thing that would’ve made it the best was if the sweet potatoe fries would’ve been cooked a lil more. They were a lil soggy. But, overall experience was nice!

Food is great and that’s the ONLY saving grace! One order taker at Sunday lunch while one fill glasses w ice and another stands around acting as hostess. They take your order, you sit, the wait staff then comes to your table (after repeated attempts to flag them down) where they go over the order AGAIN! Then you wait, and wait and wait. Salad comes out with meal NOT before. Bad concept overall. But food is amazing.

Margaritas!!! They are strong!
I got buffalo wing/​nugets here they were yummy.

Never left disappointed except for when I ordered he chicken fried chicken in which they added too much gravy this time around. I like the gravy but the dish was saturated in it. Insane.
I just want to say that this has been only one hiccup but maybe ease it next time.

If you ate looking for a good (and cold) beer selection and great food this is the place. I’ve tried several dishes and greatly enjoyed each one. The atmosphere is great and at times can be a little loud in the evenings. But an all around great place to meet friends and enjoy a good time. Try the crawfish po-​boy!

Wow ! I eat a lot of crawfish, but I have to say this was the best batch I’ve had in 10 years, so fresh, perfect spice that creeps up on your taste buds ! Kudos to the chef for consistency, as I ordered a 2^nd batch and they where as good if not better than the first batch !
Cold Dos Equis was perfect, thanks Willies for a great little snack of 4 pounds of Louisiana’s finest bugs !

Ask for Troy he was like a hawk despite his workload, it’s refreshing to see people who have a passion for what they do every day.

Mediocre… good if you just want to grab a quick simple bite.
The food was enjoyable, not the best but definitely not the worst! Service was awesome and extremely helpful.
We also ordered drinks a big willie and a strawberry margarita, both were strong enough to give off a nice buzz!
