If you want a basic taco for cheap this is the place. Tortillas are store bought and beans are too. Tacos are full of flavor and salsas were decent. The staff was great though. Good and fast service. I will continue driving to Harrisburg for some real tacos.

There food is great but the last time I went a bought 3 trailer park tacos each taco had one small chicken strip in it, priced at 4 a taco I expect a lot more, when I first started coming the portions were much larger

I really love Torchys; everything about this place is cool, from food to ambience! I’m not giving them 5 stars be the last time I dined in, service was very slow, took 3 requests to staff for them to clean my table from other ppl food and they got my order wrong… However, I’m still a believer in Torchys and hope they«tune» details like these soon.

Now I’ve been to other Torchy’s locations and I love me some Tochy’s tacos! They are delicious! However this location is a total disappointment. We ordered tacos to go(no wait in line, they weren’t very busy) and it took over 20 minutes to get them! I completely understand if the line is long and they’re slammed but they weren’t. Never again at this location.

I didn’t like this place. Their tacos are mediocre and over priced. Another chain restaurant in our area. :/ I’ve tried it twice and I would spend my money here again.

I crave their Green Chile Queso so often it’s unfair! The food is always good and the cashiers are usually really nice. The food runners are very attentive. Most times when it is busy, you can’t always find a table(especially during winter). Tacos always good. Queso is a must! Never a disappointment.

Never a disappointment when we dine at Torchys Staff/team always friendly and welcoming… We shared few tacos — portobello mushroom, shrimp, pork and ahi tuna. Chips/salsa, sweet corn(with fresh lime juice) and a nice cold frozen margarita… All was great but hands down the one that was the best and most flavorful — portobello mushroom!!! Ps — looking forward to Torchys opening in The Woodlands!

What a gem Torchy’s has turned out to be. I was persuaded by a friend of mine who says its part of his weekend diet. I can’t say the same for myself though i do understand why. I would put their chips and queso among the best in the city. It makes a spicy loving guy like me appreciate Torchy’s touch. Whatever i order I’m glad to know that it has a unique flavor that makes for a great tasting meal. If i lived closer to it, It would probably be part of my weekly diet. Those chicken tacos, trailer park, breakfast tacos are my faves with all their Tex-Mex heavenlyness(not a real word but it applies). Inside there’s a bar that offers a great ambiance for watching sports and eating like a monarch or a gluttonous dictator, whichever eats more. The outdoor patio is nice with some of the seating being covered. I must admit that I’m on fire for Torchy’s.

I first experienced Torchy’s two weeks ago and started with the green chile queso followed by a beef fajita and the Brushfire(Jamaican jerk chicken) tacos. I also ordered a premium margarita. Oh man. The green chile queso is such a nice surprise and a pleasant departure from the same old orange Velveeta queso you get at most places. This is thick, rich and soul satisfying. The green chiles add texture and a new flavor dimension. The margarita was, at best, ok, and I did feel the size was smaller than expected given the price but it was refreshing and tasted of fresh lime juice. The beef fajita is so good that I ended up eating there four days in a row as i couldn’t get my full of the queso or beef fajita tacos. Those have been the two true standouts on the menu. I also tried the fried avocado. It was good. But not great. It costs the same as the beef fajita, so why bother? Go for the beef. The brushfire was good, the chicken a little dry, but the habanero sauce will surely light your fire(and every centimeter of your digestive tract, if you like that sort of thing… I do!) I tried Mr. Pink but it tastes fishy so I knew I need never waiver from their core competencies of queso and fajita. The service is ok, not stellar. Mostly a young staff who always appear overwhelmed with the task of bringing food out and searching for your order number that you hang on a little tree on your table. Each time I’ve ordered extra onions and peppers and they never add more. This is going to become a regular haunt for me despite a slightly surly and inattentive staff. Who cares? The queso rocks and did I wax rhapsodic enough about the beef?

Do you want breakfast tacos anyone can make? Eat here! It has more lackluster food than you can shake a stick at. The food is completely inoffensive and mediocre. The queso is tasty though.

Odd how this location of Torchy’s seems less«fun» than the other two I have tried(Heights, Montrose). I get that it’s in the ‘burbs and all but it felt more like a chain than the other two. It jut didn’t «feel» right. I should not count that against it. But sicne my experience with Torchy’s has always had a cool vibe, it was a let down here. So my 3 stars is based on the experience and not the food. Even though the tortillas seemed oddly stale. Love love love their green chili queso and chips. It’s freakishly pricey for queso but soooo good. I get it every time I go now. The chips are sturdy and the queso is poppin’ with green chili yumminess. We also happened in on a day when Sangria was $ 3! Whoo hoo. Fill me up. They have the same taco menu as the other Torchy’s. I got my regular green chili pork a on corn tortilla. As I said, the tortilla seemed stale and flavorless. This is my go to taco everytime I eat here. Other favs: Dirty Sanchez, baja shrimp, the Republican and the Mr Pink. You really can’t go wrong with most any taco on their menu. Depends on what you like. Huge patio out front. Plenty of parking. Plan to wait in line if you go during peak hours. Now why 3 stars instead of 4? We sat at the bar to grab our lunch and not have to wait in the line. And then we sat at the bar and sat at the bar. It was like we were invisible. The line moved through and folks we walked in with ordered and we sat at the bar. If I look at you a few times while you are pouring beers it usually means«hey, we need some drinks here and are ready to order». The service at Torchy’s is usually fast and friendly. And while the barkeep that waited on us was always pleasant. She was slammed and didn’t seem to have time for food orders and diners at the bar. We’ll not make that mistake again.

This isn’t the place to get your average-joe tacos. Get ready to feast as they have many different toppings and choices. They originally started in Austin and made their way to the H-Town! I’m happy they decided to open this location in my neck of the woods so I won’t have to drive so far to get a couple of tasty tacos. These tacos aren’t the homemade tacos you are expecting, but they offer much flavor. They also have some spicy sauces that will want to make you smack yo momma! It isn’t crazy hot, but good hot! Try the diablo sauce. I had to buy one to take home because I liked it that much. Get the Democrat if you like barbacoa. There are so many choices to choose from. Just look at their menu and try to beat the crowd if you’re planning to eat there. It’s expected to be packed during lunch and dinner. There are also some secret menu items. Use google as your friend to find out. I can’t give out all the secrets now. You will have to find out for yourself!

Friday night my friends and I decided on torchys because well were hungry and we’d previously seen pictures and thought it looked delicious which it was! We started off with the chips and queso. I’m not sure what they put in it but it’s absolutely amazing! We couldn’t get enough of the queso. Yum! I can’t remember the names of the tacos, but I remember what was on them. Jerk chicken taco– it was ok. Not my favorite. Each bite was either spicy or really sweet to me. There wasn’t an equal balance in each bite. Avocado taco– Soooo good!!! It was melt in your mouth good. The avocado was fried, which I’ve never had before. It was new and interesting. I definitely enjoyed this one the most out of my three. The brisket taco– that was good. The brisket was broken up and overall had a good flavor. Shrimp taco– two people ordered this one and said it was really good. Next time I will have to order this taco. Burrito– heard it was good from my friend. I didn’t try it, but he enjoyed it. The elote aka corn in a cup– was too good!!! It was perfectly spicy and delicious. I did put a little of the shrimp taco(my friend had that one) sauce into and it took it up lil bit which I enjoyed.

I don’t understand the hype of this place. I’ve only gone to any torchy’s on account of other people, other than that I wouldn’t come on my own. Tacos are a hit or miss, they have a couple good ones and the rest are eh. Pro: not stingy with ingredients/toppings; con: too much sometimes, and unnecessary toppings. Sometimes simple is the best which is why I would rather get tacos from a street taco truck. Come here for the queso and sangria!

As soon as I heard that a Torchy’s had been built in my old stomping grounds, I knew I’d have to give it a try when I came back for a visit. I had only been to the original Torchy’s in Austin years ago and had nothing but fond memories. My mom and I decided to drop by on a weekend afternoon for a late lunch. We arrived at around 2PM and the place was about half full, including the bar. The interior of the restaurant is fairly small. There are maybe 15 tables at most. There’s also outdoor seating, which adds a good extra bit of space. The inside of the restaurant is a little industrial, reminiscent of Chipotle. There’s a lengthy bar that is connected to the initial counter, where you order and pay. You then take a number to your table and fill up your drink at the nearby soda and flatware counter. I ordered two tacos and got an order of chips and queso to share. I got the trailer park and tipsy chick(monthly special). The trailer park was tasty but not as generously filled as the tipsy chick. The tipsy chick was interesting but the sauce on the taco was cloyingly sweet. I felt the grit of the sugar as I bit into the taco. I expected sweetness in a maple-flavored sauce but not pure sugar grittiness. The green chile queso exceeded expectations. It was flavorful, cheesy and spicy without tasting too oily or greasy. Our tortilla chips were a bit soggy with grease, which was disappointing. In hindsight, I should have asked to have our chips replaced with fresher/non-greasy ones. All in all, I was happy with my trailer park taco but the monthly special was only okay. The queso was great but tortilla chips were subpar. Service was alright but our extent of contact with them was placing our order then receiving it from the kitchen– all of which came out in a timely manner. Really, I think Torchy’s deserves a 3.5 stars but I’ll give it a 4 with the hope that other monthly specials are better and that greasy chips are an anomaly.

First time here — and probably my last, unless I’m craving queso and chips. I ordered a Trailer Trash Hillbilly Style taco(off the secret menu) and the queso. The queso was spot on: spicy, wonderful and cheesy. It has green chilies, avocado, pico de gallo and cojita cheese, then topped with a nuclear hot diablo hot sauce. Fantastic! That alone is a 4 or 5 star experience. The chips were flat and plain. I also ordered a Trailer Trash Hillbilly style taco — its a regular Trailer Trash taco with fried chicken(way too salty for me), bacon, pico de gallo and cheese with the queso on it. The tortilla seemed store bought, and not fresh. It wasn’t very tasty and very over priced. I’d gladly order the queso again, but that is it. Save your money and go eat at a real taco truck — this is over-priced hipster tacos. I should have known since they started in Austin. The only thing missing are the bearded cashiers. The plus to this place is that they have a real bar and serve real drinks here. You might need a nice shot of tequila to gulp down the mediocre food.

I used to love this place. But, man, this location is. falling. off. Out of unsweet tea. Told worker. Ten minutes later. Still out. Told another worker. Forgot about it after that. My tacos had cold/semi frozen onions in them. Yes, onions fresh out the freezer. This did not bode well for the taste of my tacos. I treated my daughter and her friend here for lunch. Her friend only wanted plain barbacoa tacos – no cheese, avocado, etc etc. I thought surely they could do a plain taco and not charge full price($ 4) for a taco with no avocado(pricey) and no queso fresco(also pricey). I asked. The guy said, «I got you!»(wink). Yeah. He got me alright. Still charged the same. Sorry but I can get plain-ass barbacoa tacos with onion(not frozen!!), cilantro, and lime for half that elsewhere. Bye bye Torchy’s.
