One of my all time favorite Tex Mex restaurants. The flautas, fajitas, and quesadillas are to die for. What’s even better than that is the brunch selection on weekends! I had never eaten breakfast quesadillas until eating them here, and WOW! What a perfect brunch. The owners are great, and the staff seem to really care. I would come here every weekend if I could!

My husband and I come here every 2 weeks. It’s the only restaurant that serves New Mexican food, that I know of. Their green chili stew, indian stuffed taco and anything with their green chili or red sauce is amazing. So unique in flavor that you don’t get in a mexican restaurant. It’s hard when I come here to decide what I want because I want everything. Love coming here

I was excited when I found a restaurant in Houston that served New Mexican food. I assumed this place was trying to replicate Tortilla Flats in Santa Fe so I was trying to be open minded if it didn’t meet expectations. I was disappointed that the corn chips were not homemade and all white corn, not even a few red or blue in the mix. They eat sopapillas like all Texans do, as a dessert with cinnamon topping/ice cream. Just gross. I ask that the fried bread be brought out with our meal with a tub of honey. The salsa was weak, chipotle makes hotter salsa… smh. It could use more lime and cilantro too. The posole was not edible. I couldn’t bring myself to try it. But for the positive, the stuff sopapillas were decent. I can tell when sopapillas are fried in cheap oil, they are greasy and more like a chip. They were fried correctly, and I did like them with my meal. I wouldn’t say this place was bad, just mediocre and overpriced for the quality of food. The live music outside was the highlight of the night. Next time you want good native New Mexican food, take a cheap flight to Albuquerque

This place was GREAT! The staff was friendly and their queso is delicious. I love that they have a salsa bar against the wall where you can get all kinds of salsas to try with their house made chips. I had their flautas and they were a good balance between crunchy and soft(not overcooked). My two friends who live near here love this place because they have delicious, affordable margaritas and a nice staff. I have to say I agree with them, because when we went there they were top notch as well. They were even nice and patient with me and my toddler! Pretty much all the food was good and the next time I visit I know this will be on my list!

Did you know that the state vegetable of New Mexico is the pepper? That should tell you something about what to expect from Santa Fe Flats. This is primarily a NewMex, not TexMex, restaurant. I’ve been here well over a dozen times, and it never disappoints. New Mexican chile comes in two types — green and red — and that refers to the color of the peppers used to make it. My recommendation is to try the NewMex(not TexMex) dishes — especially anything with the red or green chile, or to try both at the same time get the flat Christmas enchiladas(«Christmas» here referring to the red and green colors). Also try out the sweet pickled carrots at the condiment station! (I’ll save you a search — the state vegetable of Texas is the sweet onion.)

I have been to Sante Fe Flats several times in the last four years and the food and service have been good. BUT, the last two times have been terrible. The last visit we were seated next to a table full of people with children behaving so badly my 10YO commented on it. The dining room was less than full, and commented to the manager that perhaps some addition training to the hostess would be beneficial. However, it was tonight that was the worst. We went to take advantage of specials as advertised in an email blast. It’s a nice night, we requested to sit in the patio. The patio was about 50% occupied, and the dining room was about 25%. After sitting at a table for fifteen minutes, and watching no less than four servers walk by the table at least twice, we left. But, not before telling the unapologetic hostess. I guess she still has yet to received any training. Too bad, the food is pretty good. A nice alternative to traditional Tex-Mex. I won’t be back.

We’ve eaten here several times and the food is always good. The manager or owner checks on us every time, too. I like the food it is NewMex so not your usual tex. It has more flavors and centers on hatch green chilis. Food comes out fast and hot. They have a salsa bar with different salsas to choose from. The waiter brings them to your table. My husband’s favorite is the green stew.

I was flipping by this restaurant and remembered my experience there so I thought I’d give a little knowledge on what I experience. I kind of enjoy cilantro in my salsa, if you’re like me then you don’t want to eat this salsa. I also felt their menu was a tad bit ridiculous $ 10 for crunchy tacos is out of line. I often had said next time I eat Mexican food I’m going here, & I never did, and now that I have I wish I never had. Lesson learned, to each his own.

Sadly not up to par. Service acted like we were stupid when we had questions on the menu($ 9 top shelf margarita aplenty includes 5 of the 8 options below which are not clearly marked… And fajita combo vs beef and shrimp fajita Oy what an awkward exchange). Forgot my straw and walked away before we could place our order. Food was eh at best: edible but not enticing.

Friendly staff and good food! We like to go on Mondays, kids eat free and $ 5 chimichangas. They also have a nice patio with a sandbox for the kids!

Honestly I would give this place a zero… but the waitress was good so I will give them a firm 1 star. I ordered the chicken fajitas.. The meat was dry and flavorless.. The tortilla was gummy with an odd taste. To be honest if that was the only complaint I had about this place I might have given it a 2… but the vomiting and some other less pleasent results of eating that«food» through the night made for a place I will honestly never recommend to even my worst enemy.. to put it simply… unless you wish to punish yourself for some sin or crime… never intentionally eat here.

The service was good. The wait staff was very attentive and asked many times if we needed anything. Unfortunately, the food was horrible. I ordered a chilli relleno, and they aren’t supposed to taste like that. Each bite was soaked in grease and the egg batter in the chile was burned so badly it was black and crispy. Again, great service, friendly and warm staff, but very subpar food.

We trekked over here for the flat enchiladas. I was with 5 folks from various parts of New Mexico, and they all agreed the red sauce was legitimate! In fact a pact was made for a monthly trip here since none of us live nearby, and no one can find anything close to New Mexico enchiladas in Houston. 5 of us got the Christmas enchiladas and one the chicken and green sauce. We all had a fried egg on top, some over easy, some hard; and the kitchen got everyone’s egg just about right. The beef with the red sauce was a hit with everyone. The green sauce with chicken received mixed reviews. They have 3 salsas to go with your chips: a red, a green and a creamy jalapeño. They even have a chip bar so you can serve yourself. But the service is so dang friendly, you don’t have to serve yourself. With a Unilocal check in you get a free order of nachos. The outdoor seating is super cool for a strip shopping center restaurant. Parking is plentiful. If you haven’t had a flat enchilada plate with a gooey fried egg on top, this is the place to come give it a whirl! If that’s not your thing, they have plenty of other Mexican and Tex Mex options and even good olé American standards like a burger or chicken fried steak.

More Tex than Mex but that’s not totally a bad thing. The fajitas automatically come with cheese which is nice. Didn’t find the margarita to be too exciting. The standard complimentary chips & salsa came with both salsa and green sauce which was quite tasty compared to other places. I had the fajita trio which included shrimp, chicken and beef fajitas. The chicken was great, flavored well and nice and juicy and tender. The shrimp was also nicely seasoned and cooked well. The beef was cooked nicely but had almost no seasoning. The tortillas were tasty and at least seemed homemade. Check in on Unilocal to get your free nacho appetizer!

So disappointed. If you’re expecting traditional New Mexican food. Or even good Mexican food this is not the place. Red and green chile were horrible, chicken was bland, rice was dry.

Not too shabby! I had the Santa Fe Enchiladas I think it was called with the traditional green chilies and it was pretty good. They have free nachos if you check in while there and free queso on Tuesdays I believe! My parents say margaritas are good and strong although I haven’t gotten my hands on one yet!

My wife and I keep going to our normal favorite places, so this week we decided to Unilocal and try new places. Sante Fe had good reviews, so we decided to try it. The first thing I noticed is that the menu prices were high, and the ambiance and service were not. We normally go to El Tiempo in Vintage Park. Sante Fe for being in a Home Depot parking lot was actually higher, go figure. We ordered the veggie enchiladas, upon first bite, we noticed they are using LASPALMAS canned sauce. The food was super average, service was ok at best. I don’t recommend this place, and won’t come back.
