Sad news — Stag’s Head will be closing 4÷25÷15 according to the Houston Chronicle. I love this dive bar. The beer is cheap and the food is above average. I am really going to miss this place. They had social events in the back room that ranged from lock picking to scuba diving get-togethers for CHUM. Karaōke on Saturday nights was also fun. What a bummer.

We Had Saturday brunch today. Shrimp and Eggs were delicioso! Smoky cheese grits are to die for. Had a Great Bloody Mary. I highly recommend the brunch, served on Saturday and Sunday.

I know this is a pub but, they have an amazing chicken and Avocado salad and they serve food until 11. PM. I also think their pretzels are excellent. not too sweet like so many. They have a lot of beers on tap, a dart board and TV’s indoor and outdoor seating and good parking.

Our favorite watering hole in all of Houston! There are about 40 beers on tap, lots of liquor options, and the best pub atmosphere in town. We love to sit in the back area with The Stag’s Head itself, it’s a bit quieter here. The food is top-notch, I’ve never had better hummus. Any dish you choose is expertly cooked and very tasty. Love this place, wish we lived closer!

Stag’s Head Pub is definitely one of the more English pub here in Houston. They are also the same owner as Richmond’s Arm and King’s Head Pub here as well. Like any other pubs, there will be rooms divided up the space instead of an open space bar like a typical bars. This means it would also be a good place for you to host meetings here for an environment where people can order a pint of beer instead of just soda and ice tea. They also have a steak night every Wednesday and it’s pretty good for a 15oz ribeye with a double baked potato and asparagus. Given that this is a pub, they have a good wide selection of beers on draft and in bottle. But like any other bars, they will have your usual choice of spirits. They also have a menu with a mixed of English pub food and American food. One of the thing is that when it’s packed, it gets really loud where you can barely hear the person in front of you. But then again, it’s pretty much like that it every bar. I heard they also have karaōke night here so I think I will come back and see how the karaōke crowd is here. This is definitely one of the pub I would recommend people to meet up and have a drink when they’re at the Rice Village /Shepherd area.

I went here with my boyfriend for his work’s Christmas gathering and had a great time. I had several glasses of red wine and they fill those glasses FULL. Also had some hour dourves that were good too. The atmosphere is a cozy, slightly shabby, pub feel. Not quite as nice as Black Lab. At one point there was a guy who set up karaōke right next to our group and started playing music VERY loudly. At first that was annoying, but eventually some from our group joined in and it was kind of entertaining. Some of my bf’s coworkers told me that the last time they had a Christmas gathering here a mouse ran through the pub. This story horrified me, but it obviously didn’t stop them from hosting their gathering here again and I did not see rodents of any kind on my visit.

Really wanted to like this bar given proximity to my house and the fact that the stag is my college mascot. I came in looking for a cool european pub, I found high prices on an okay selection of beer. It also smelled kinda funky. +1 star for interesting décor, if trying a bit too hard.

Love Stags Head! I’ve only been here for lunch so I cannot say anything about the atmosphere in the evening. The food is always good & the prices are pretty decent. It’s a very laid back atmosphere & the staff are all very friendly & attentive. There is one waitress in particular(cannot remember her name) who is hilarious. She also makes a point to remember what we like which is a pleasure when you are on a lunch break. Please understand that this is first & foremost a bar. The staff does their best to get to everyone on a timely manner but sometimes they do get a little busy.

This is absolutely one of my favorite lunch spots!!! I love the laid back atmosphere of the place and the service has always been great for me. All of the food I’ve had has also been really good. One of my favorite meals is the Black-bean burger. I usually add avocado and bacon to it with a side of french fries. The Burger has just the right amount of spice and it’s filling but doesn’t give you the stuffed feeling after you eat it. Another fave of mind is the Fish and chips. Simple yet very tasty and it isn’t over breaded so you get the right amount of fish for the meal and not too much breading. Now if you’re looking for a light snack, then you will want their chips with the avocado dip. Now what makes this snack really really good is the guacamole dip. They add a little bit of honey to give it a light sweet taste that was surprising to me once I had it. I never thought of adding honey to my guacamole but it makes a huge difference in taste that makes it one of the best or THEBEST guacamole I’ve ever had. Their hot-wings are very good as well. They aren’t too breaded and they are a good size so having one order is quite filling. I started going here because I worked close but once I changed jobs I have made it a point to return every chance I get. It has also become a favorite for my wife and friends anytime we want a laid back atmosphere we can relax and have a good meal for lunch. If you haven’t been there, I highly recommend it!

I’ve been to Stags a couple of dozen times, but I’ve really lost my taste for it. I used to come with friends, but they have all begun to feel as I have… this place has nothing to really set it apart. Food is meh, drinks aren’t great, prices are pricey, and the wait staff could care less about you. I know a few friends who get awesome service every time, but I don’t flirt or fawn over the wait staff(as they tend to do) sooo…30 mins for drinks? No problem. I’ll just stop going, and be better for it. And yes, rodents are a problem.

Used to work there many moons ago. It use to be the place to be seen. Not anymore, it’s more like a funeral parlour, with cold food and pints only ¾ full. Does Michael still own this place?

Ordered Four Roses and the waitress brought four Four Roses! She works in a pub and doesn’t know the name of the drink? Staff was too friendly. I’m friendly with waiters and waitresses but I don’t always want them to crash in my conversations and touch my shoulders or else. The bar is pretty dark and was empty. I might go back and will update if I do, but I doubt I will ever go again.

My family and I visited on a Sat evening. The staff is very rude and impersonal. I had the worst server EVER!!! However the Fish & Chips, and The fried Zucchini were very tasty! But it doesn’t help if the wait staff sucks! They need to revamp the wait staff but keep the chef. I will never go back. And I will never tell anyone that I had ever been there.

One of my favorite pubs in Houston. My friends and I hang out often here. They have a fairly wide selection of liquors and beers, and everything’s reasonably priced. There’s lots of seating, both indoors and out. Inside, they have a little corner with a couple of dart boards and a «ringing the bull/Bimini ring» game. It’s quite fun! The only food I’ve had here is their burger, which was really nice. Also, there’s a huge parking lot outside so parking is never a problem. All in all, a very nice place to relax with a few drinks.

I’ve been a regular at this place for many years now, treating the sabbath as my own personal drinking holiday weekly. I’ve seen bartenders come and go, but to say the least my favorites are Emily and Jackie. I don’t see Jackie as much anymore, working mostly weekdays, but Em is a good friend and trusted barkeep. Also there’s Darien and Dana, Tacha and Debra. Too many to name sometimes. They are all great and will make sure you are getting the service needed from drinks to eats. Whether it’s soccer or baseball, football or rugby, there’s also plenty of screens to make your sports fantasies come true. Come to Stag’s. It’s my fave, and should be yours.

Had wings and fries here — I hate«jelly» fatty wings and the waitress was awesome and made sure my wings were perfectly crispy but not burnt! I almost devoured the entire plate myself — love me some buffalo wings! The fries were good, but not as crisp as we like, and my husband had had better rum and cokes(he felt his was too watered down). We had a great waitress though and now I know where to go for my late-night wing cravings!

Good beer selection. Friendly staff. Good ambiance. GIANTRAT. Yeah I was going to write a great review about the dim, intimate pub atmosphere, and the friendly and knowledgeable staff, and the solid beer selection… and then I saw the biggest rat I’d ever seen(easily 6−7″ from nose to butt). Made me soo happy I hadn’t eaten any of the food, and I definitely didn’t order any drinks after. If there’s a giant rat running up and down the walls in areas customers CAN see, I can only imagine what Ratatouille shit’s going on behind the scenes. Haven’t had a rabies shot yet, and I intend to keep it that way by going literally anywhere else but Stag’s Head. Yuck.

The 2 stars is primarily for the beer selection. They have a quality selection of draft beer. Now from there it all goes down hill. Constantly looking for the bartenders when I’m sitting directly at the bar. Untrained bartenders who don’t even know where n what certain taps look like. I went 3 times in a row and got charged a different price each time for the same beer and this beer is not on happy hour(as I found out). The beer menu has no prices. Until tonight I had no idea they had a food menu. If you don’t ask, you don’t get it. My date got a pretzel and a bowl of soup. Not good. I love pretzels and there is way too much salft goin on here. My companion reported the soup was decent but the crackers were stale. Really? Who messes up chicken noodle soup? Can you turn the sound on for the game?(Sunday night football. Manning v Brady). Ah no. NO explanation or anything. This is a sports bar I thought. It’s never busy there but you get horrible service. There are 2 bartenders that actually know what they have: the black haired causian female and the african american bartender with the natural hair. If you get anyone else, good luck. I hate this place but they do have good beer so I may be back :)
