I didn’t know this place existed on the side of Kirby! Very rustic and neat little joint with some amazing British and Indian eats and some good looking drinks. The staff was friendly and it was a very chill atmosphere. Parking is valet only for their tiny lot. The food was good — the yucca chips in the pili pili sauce was good — not that crispy and lots of sauce but good flavors. The lamb croquettes were very small but good flavors as well. The veggie samosas were my favorite — super crispy, filled with a nice curry potato and peas that had a good amount of spice and flavor. The lamb vindaloo and the chicken tikka masala were ok — the sauce for both dishes actually tasted the same and a little salty to me and not much developed spices. The basmati rice was a little salty as well and comes in a small bowl(very small) and the naan was too doughy and not as crispy and light as other places. You also had to pay extra for rice and naan for your curry?! What?! What do you do expect us to eat the curry with?! Overall I thought it was good, but not phenomenal. Still searching for a phenomenal Indian place in Houston!

Had been here for lunch. It has valet parking. The food is delicious. Every dish that we ordered was tasty. It has outdoor seating too. No complaints whatsoever. Will definitely be back.

Glad to have stopped by Queen Vic’s for dinner. It was recommended by an Indian friend for their Indian food so I was quick to write it down and bookmark it! Walking in, it definitely has a bar feel than a restaurant feel because the inside was a lot dimmer and louder than I expected. I opted to sit outside because I did not feel like shouting. There are ceiling fans and shade by the outdoor seating area so it wasn’t too hot, but towards the end of the evening I was getting bitten my mosquitoes. Food was a great mix of spicy and flavorful. It was still happy hour, 3−7pm, so my friend and I ordered two $ 5 bar bites from the menu. We got Shrimp Tacquitos and Lamb Naan. The shrimp tacquitos come in 2 big folded tortillas, not rolled up like they usually are. They looked more like quesadillas, but I’m a fan of anything cheese+meat+tortilla so I was happy. It’s also filled with guacamole which was a nice add-on. The lamb naan was also good, the salsa(?) it comes with is spicy and adds a good kick. I normally do not like lamb but this lamb was ground lamb and not as gamey. This dish also was not what I expected because I never ate stuffed naan before, but it was good. Lastly we ordered one entrée the Chicken Masala, which came in a creamy tomato base with chicken and potatoes. It was spicy! I could take the heat, but I would warn others to beware! It comes with a side of rice, but everything else you order extra is a la carte for $ 3. Parking: valet only but it’s complimentary with tip. On their website it says Additional parking available at Greenway Animal Clinic after 6pm. When I asked the valet guy, he said he wasn’t sure but I just parked at the animal clinic anyway. Later I found out that the valet parks your cars in at the animal clinic too so… I think we’re good here. Overall, I enjoyed exploring the dishes of this place. I browsed the rest of the menu and the items seemed pricey, so I was glad to have ordered during happy hour!

If you’re like me and and have driven past this place many times but never been in, stop making that mistake. They make hearty meals that feel home-y but that you know you’d never be able to make as well. The short rib samosa came filled with a decent amount of meat. Had the fish and chips. The cuts of fish were hefty, which left me full. Make sure you have it with the vinegar and not just tartar. If you’re a fan of shepherd’s pie, you have to try this version. It’s packed with flavor. The mash is so velvety smooth you’ll be jealous you can’t have it all the time at home.

Wasn’t sure I was going to get along with the bartender at first. Guess we grew on each other. Overall a good experience. Bartender took his time making a proper drink. Great Old Fashioned & Moscow Mule. Mum’s chicken Tikka Masala had the right amount of heat. Bullet Naan is awesome.

What an awesome spot! The Indian/British Fusion Pub really works. This was my first visit at Queen Vic and from the outside I thought this place would be too small but to my surprise its pretty spacious and they also offer patio seating which is great for those cool air evenings. Upon walking in we were greeted by the hostess that had a great smile by the way! but since we were meeting friends there, our table was already set and they were waiting on us. Once we sat our waitress came by and asked us what we wanted to drink. Not knowing what they had we asked for suggestions. My husband and I both got beers from their draft menu. We came hungry so we ordered the Yucca chips which were awesome. Saucy and spicy but good. By the time we were done with our beer and appetizer our food was already on its way out. I got the Saag Paneer and my husband got the Chicken Tikka Masala. We ordered Naan to compliment our dinner and the naan were thick, fresh and fluffy. All of our dishes were well seasoned and super spicy but it was a perfect compliment to the beers we had paired with our meals. Everything was delicious and our service was fast and friendly. We didn’t have room for dessert but who can pass up dessert! So my husband got the Homemade PB&J icecream which he thoroughly enjoyed and I ordered the sticky toffee cake. It was described as a spice cake but it tasted more like a light chocolate cake. It was ok but I probably wouldn’t try it again. Food, service and ambiance were top notch and I look forward to visiting again. Good pick Gin and On! Complimentary parking was a hit with us as well. See you soon your royal Highness.

Batter that shatters! The fish and chips were awesome. There were two large pieces of fish surrounded by a crispy, well-seasoned batter that crunches when you cut into it. The dish also included great fries, slightly crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They weren’t too thick or thin, maybe 1−2cm or so. We split two happy hour appetizers, the nachos with crab and the chicken wings. The wings were fine, but I’d rather have something more unique next time like the nachos. They have quite a few $ 5 pints on at happy hour. The interior was way nicer than I expected(I expected a sports pub type place). The parking lot is small with complimentary valet. Overall, I’d definitely come back here for a great plate of pub food.

Excellent Indian and English pub fare– where else does that happen? I’ve been here twice and had different apps and entrees both times. Happy hour specials are pricey compared to other happy hours in the area but quality over quantity always wins. Staff can be a bit forced-cheery. Not sure what’s going on there but still everyone’s on their game. 5 stars

This place is great! We stopped on the way to a concert. The atmosphere is nice, like a true pub. I had the Beef Wellington and it was very good. The meat and lamb sausage are nested inside the puff pastry perfectly. My husband has the Masala Strip Steak special. The 10 oz. steak was perfectly cooked medium rare, thick cut of meat, stunning! Both dishes had potatoes cooked two different ways and asparagus. The last dish was the sticky toffee pudding: small and warm cake with the most delicious sauce. I recommend the place, you should give it’s shot!

Hands down to their curry dishes! Came here with a group. We each sampled a different curry dish, and were thoroughly satisfied. The rice that you can order is well-spiced, and the Na’an very fluffy. The atmosphere is chill, with a traditional«British» feel. Their service deserves a two-thumbs up as well. Our waitress was extremely attentive, and frequently returned to our table to check on us. Our food was served in a timely fashion. So… onto the reason why Queen Vic’s only deserves 3 stars. 1. Price. After paying $ 13 for their chickpea/tofu curry dish, I was less than thrilled with having to pay an additional $ 3 for a meager serving of rice that is less than that of a can of cat food, and another $ 3 for some naan. The food is decent, but overly priced for what you get. 2. The parking situation. Abysmal. If you want convenient parking, your only option is Valet. Otherwise, good luck. The parking lots next door all have big signs clearly stating that you WILL be towed if you’re a Vic’s customer trying to borrow their space. Not impressed. I can get worthwhile Indian food for half the price, and certainly with more convenient parking.

I love this place, it’s such a fun and unique spot. It has the casual atmosphere of a pub with a menu that can hold its own against any restaurant in town. They get busy for dinner so come check out happy hour and enjoy the patio. Our trio ordered lots of happy hour food and the crowd favorites were the Tamarind Burgers and the Keema Naan which is basically an Indian quesadilla. Look forward to good beer/wine/cocktail options and some interesting interactions with the servers.

Despite living only a few blocks away, haven’t been here in a few years. But went Friday night and absolutely loved it! Laid back groovy ambiance. I sat at bar and had a fabulous pint of Fullers ESB, which is tough to find in Houston, and indulged in what might be one of the top 20 dishes in all of Houston… The Goan fish/seafood curry. Amazing. Super tastey with the typical spicy yet coconutty curry Goan style, loaded with white fish, shrimp and crab meat. Decent portion of pilau rice and yummy naan(although they do charge $ 3 extra for rice and $ 3 for naan which I found a bit cheeky). Definitely will go back soon and highly recommend!

Really liked the ambiance and casualness of the bar. Valet parking. Seat yourself, no hostess. Prompt service. Interesting English — Indian dishes available. I tried the Lamb Keenan Masala with rice, came with naan. Delicious but SPICEYHOT and also served really hot. Awesome! Husband ordered Lamb Sheperds pie. We switched because I couldnt handle the heat although it was good. Masala Lamb was tender. I just cannot handle heat like I could back in the day. Nice selection of craft beers. Husband had the kingfisher and I tried a blonde belgium. For dessert, we had the Toffee bread pudding. Tastey Toffee deliciousness, warm but not goey and not overly sweet! Perfection in dessert form. Meal was delicious. Will return for sure!

I absolutely love Indian cuisine. And British pubs. So as soon as I was told about Queen Vic, I had to come check out. It’s a majestic little place with elegant décor, especially the wallpaper. They have a decent selection of craft beer, cocktails, wine, and spirits. I ordered the tandoori tofu; I’ve never been a tofu fan, but Indian cuisine truly remedies that. The flavors and smells were delectable and it was hot(temperature wise). I’ve had some experiences recently with room-temp or even cold food. I was also able to try the lamb vindaloo, the chicken masala and the shepherds pie. All equally tasty. I’m chalking the Queen Vic down as one of those gems to bring out of town(especially from Dallas) friends to so they can see the variety and diversity in great cuisine found in Houston.

We came here on a Friday night and figured it would be busy but decided to go for it anyways. They have complimentary parking which is nice. While we waited for our table we decided to grab a beer at the bar. Man were those beers expensive! $ 18 for two We ordered the queens curry with bullet naan and onion & zucchini bhajia for apps and got the beef Wellington for entrée. Just a heads up that is wayyyy too much food for two people. The curry part of the queens curry was tasty by I didn’t care much for the egg and lamb part. The bullet naan sounds good on paper but was not when we ate it. It was cold when it arrived and I expected more flavor from it. We were really excited for the beef Wellington after seeing it on numerous tv shows. It looked great when you cut into it. However ours was overly salted especially the mushrooms. The whipped potatoes were the only thing in that plate that wasn’t. So we left a little disappointed. :(

Queen Vic is one of the few British-Indian fusion spots I’ve encountered in Texas. While the concept admittedly harkens back to a not-so-great time in my ethnic homeland’s history, such high-minded misgivings quickly faded when I laid eyes on the menu. Unique and innovative, the venue and its offerings are among Houston’s finest. The Richmond gastropub is marked by a row of tall, thin conifers. The trendy interior has a classic pub feel with high-end accents, and the light British rock, Victorian lighting fixtures, and TVs broadcasting Premier League soccer all speak to deliberate European influence. On to the grub. The short rib samosas, which are fried and stuffed triangular pastry shells for the uninitiated, were decent but not great. The were a little too generous with the garam masala and the beef could have been more tender, though the tangy tamarind sauce was excellent. The three chili paneer(cubes of Indian-style cheese) was a larger appetizer, served in a heap of saucy sweet peppers. The paneer was delightfully spongy, but I wish I had known beforehand that the course was sweet rather than spicy. For my entrée, I went with the Goan Fisherman’s Curry, served in a large oval bowl with a side of rice or naan. Take my advice and go with the rice, which soaks up all that gravy nicely. The thick yellow broth was spicy and aromatic, with a strong coconut milk flavor. The flaky cod was all right, but the lump crab meat and jumbo shrimp were superb. In the past, I have tried the Indian Kebab burger, which complements a savory lamb meat patty with a sharp blue cheese and sweet tomato chutney. You really can’t go wrong with either of these plates. Queen Vic deserves more than a 4⁄5 overall, but I’m not sure I can commit to a perfect score yet based on limited exposure, especially when Houston has some heavyweights in the exotic dining department. Definitely plan on returning time and time again to try more of their creative and flavorful fare.

I finally tried this place for a Saturday lunch. I sat at the bar and tried a couple cocktails and items off the menu. It is a British style menu with a great menu including many curry options. I had a sausage roll which was very good with a flaky crust which reminded me of my mom’s. I also had a curry with rice and added naan. It was excellent. The cocktails were very good as well. I have this on my list for a repeat trip because there is a lot more on the menu that I have to experience. I will say that there isn’t any parking during the evening except valet but weekend lunch is free parking in the lot.

Nice pub with lively atmosphere. Went with a group of girlfriends on a weekday night. We did miss their happy hour menu though. As some of our friends came later, we decided to order some beer at the bar. My sister ordered the Magners Irish cidre beer, and I ordered their Thatchers Green Goblin cider beer. Both tasted good and not too sweet. You can’t go wrong ordering either beer, since I feel both have similar Apple-y tastes. Yes, I made that up. We also ordered their lamb and potato croquettes with cilantro chutney. The chutney was delicious. I feel like it could also be a great condiment for burgers, fries, and anything fried. Once out friends arrived, we ordered their entrees: Chicken Tikka Masala, Fishermans Curry, and Fish and Chips. My friends enjoyed their tikka masala. One of them found it quite spicy. I had he Fishermans curry, which was a deluge of coconut milk and lemongrass flavors. I liked it, but it was quite rich. The naan helped sopp up the sauce. I also got to try the fish and chips. The chips(fries) tasted kind of stale, and the fried fish was just ok. I think it’s just my preference, but I prefer a light and airy batter for my fried fish. The batter here was dense and chewy. But, hey some people might like that. Overall, I did like the food and atmosphere here. It does get quite loud as the night goes on, but that’s good, since you can to talk to your friends without feeling like someone could actually hear your conversation. The lighting was dim enough that I was using my smartphone light to peruse the menu. I would also recommend coming here during their happy hour to save some cashola. Happy hour bites are between $ 4-$ 7. In addition, take advantage of complimentary valet parking, as finding a parking spot will be a pain in the butt!
