I don’t normally write reviews, but I looked this place up after wandering in for a late lunch and was utterly confused by the low ratings. This was a delightful little spot for a quick bite, and the staff was helpful and knowledgable. The food we had was really great, and we loved enjoying it outside on the patio during a beautiful day. The only downside was that there was a bit of a wait on the food(10 minutes maybe?) but what we were served was fresh and delicious so it wasn’t a big deal. I’ll be back!

This place is cheap but it’s also terrible. You really gotta go to A movie theater to get worse food than this place. Airplanes server better food. If you are going to an event at the Toyota center wait and just eat there, the food is better.

Great, friendly service, with a short wait for our food. This place has good food(tastes like fresh, local ingredients), but the price, the service and the location are the best features. It feels a little touristy, but the semi-loud music and park activities are cool.

Perfect to grab a quick bite while exploring Discovery Green. The food is Ok, the views are nice and the service was friendly. They have Sriracha sauce out like its’ a standard condiment, I dig that! Hehe

Stopped by really quick for lunch on a break from the conference center. It’s like a Panera where you order and get a buzzer and then go back to get your food. I had the fish tacos and a salad. The food was okay. Decent enough for a quick bite or a lunch break. Sitting outside by the little«lake» was a nice break from being inside.

«homemade chips» on their nachos. Pft. reminds me of my aunts cooking. «Yeah it’s homemade. I opened the bag all on my own». Burgers were less than desirable. But the kicker was the price. I get it, middle of downtown, not much of a choice and you have kids running around and playing in the water so they’ll need to be fed. Teetering on highway robbery here.

Here for a convention so it was one of the shortest wait in the area. There was a rather long line but after a new cashier came the line moved. Food was reasonably priced. I had the grilled chicken sandwich. It was decent. Nothing to get overly excited about though. I would come back though.

Quick food by the park Food: The crispy chicken sandwich was tasty and it comes with fries so it’s a better deal than the salad. Definitely get the ice tea(unlimited refills) Décor: inside AC dining and outside patio dining by the small«lake» in Discovery green park Service: Fast, they give you a pager to let you know when your food is ready Cost: $ 9 on average on anything you’ll order, sandwich or salad Overall: If I want a quick bite by the park I’ll be stopping by, but overall the food is ok

Came to Texas for an event & found this little very cute place. The people were extremely nice & had a line around the block and got us fed super fast. The tacos are very very yummy. I had 4 I was obsessed. The sweet potato fries were Friken fab! & they’re home made lemonade was ONPOINT. They also have a lot of other kinds of foods & my table of 12 people all loved their meals as well.

Good location in Discovery Green and pleasant atmosphere by a small pond. Food was relatively inexpensive. The salmon salad was disgusting. The salmon was so overcooked that my husband thought it was chicken. It was tough and bland. My kids chicken fingers and corn dog were exactly what you’d expect-not hard to mess those up. The fruit cup was nice and the employees were kind.

Came in today, prices wasn’t to bad. I mean it’s with a «view» of a ice rink being built… yay. Either or the menu isn’t very descriptive, I don’t get why I can’t get ice tea on some items. Why do I have to pay extra? Well let’s start from the beginning there was no greeting coming in, and there was only two people seated and eating. Two girls up front chit chatting and we had to approach them and when we did they didn’t happy. Like we’re a bother, it’s really strange dead quiet in there even in my lowest voice I could hear myself echo. I could hear the workers in the back laughing it up, etc. The food came out cold. Fries where hard and the fish sandwich was cold even seemed like the fried it twiced, kinda hard breading outside. Wasn’t the best, to quiet to weird, to uncomfortable enviroment. Something anything play in the background softly no banging loud music no. But something

I’m kind of puzzled by some of the reviewers who think $ 2.75 for a hotdog in downtown’s most popular park is too much. I wonder if they’re the same people that get outraged at $ 2 coffee at Starbucks. Sheesh. Anyway, let’s be honest, the biggest thing the Lake House Waterside Café has going for it is their location. I don’t think a single person has come home from work and asked the family where they want to eat and they all decided to drive to downtown and to go eat here. That’s ok. This is mostly a nice spot to go eat once you’re already in the park for many of the«Free» events they have. Common sense would indicate that acts like Strange Fruit Swoon, Dock Dogs, concerts, etc. who show up to the park don’t work for free so that has to come from the fees and rent that the vendors pay so because of that, hot dogs cost *gasp* $ 2.75 instead of the $ 1.50 you can find them at in gas stations. I assure you if gas stations had free concerts too, their hot dogs would cost more than $ 1.50 just as getting a hot dog at a Rockets game costs an arm and a leg too. Location location. Anyway, their prices are actually pretty reasonable though the quality is about what you’d expect. Burger and fries are less than $ 10. It’s easier than dragging a picnic with you 3 blocks and eating soggy sandwiches. They even have salads. Oh and the air conditioning is nice in the summer too.

Packing a picnic next time we go to Discovery Green. Ever since experiencing IKEA’s 50 cent hot dogs, I’m a snob. For $ 2.75, it better blow my mind or at least come with a couple fries.

We had to eat since Papasitos was 2 hours wait. It was edible but I would not volunteerly come back here. The sweet potatoes was cheap tho. 3 bucks. Its 6 or 7 at Chillis.

No thank you. I’m not sure where to start so let’s make an itemize list. –No initial greeting even though the place wasn’t busy. –traditional burger and fri combo is a bit pricey. -$ 1 refills on soft drinks –Manager didn’t seem to have a heal of there own menu –Menu items weren’t accurately described. Now stay with me. I know I sound like I’m just finicky, but these are basics when it comes to food service.

The One Where Sandy Spends Saturday Morning at an AABA Event and Not Running. I arrived at this venue to see that a race was finished and breaking down. Yup, I failed to sign up for the Yes Prep 5/10k run, but it’s okay… I ran the Christmas 12k the following weekend. Point? None whatsoever other than the fact I ran into some friends who did run the race. Anyway, we had our AABA Holiday Party here at the Lake House. A cute venue located next to the ice rink and near the play area for the kids. It’s actually a good location for folks at discovery green who wants a quick bite or a refreshing drink. However, for the price… I wish the food was better. I tried their bacon cheeseburger(because I needed a control group — haha) and an order of their sweet potato fries. The burger was a major disappointment because it was a very thin slice of patty in between two huge burger buns. It made me wish I had ordered their corn dog because my friend raved about it and went back for more. Luckily, their sweet potato fries were yummy! It was fried crisp and was tasty. It’s a self-serve place so you just order at the counter and pick up your food. I saw they have root-beer/coke floats and it looked yummy, but it was a cold morning and there was no way I could drink that. I heard their coffee sucked so I would recommend walking over to this random stand across from the Lake House for a good cup of coffee(or chai latte). Overall, this place is okay. I wouldn’t head there just for the food, but it’s a great place to host a get together, especially with kids.

If you’re at discovery green and looking for food this place isn’t half bad. It’s quite and easy and most of all not a total rip off. The burgers were quite affordable. It’s nothing to rave about but for less than $ 10 you can have yourself a burger, fries, and a drink out. I mean anywhere else and you’d be pissed but you figure you’d be paying marked up prices. Their sweet potato fries were actually pretty good and the lemonade was solid.

When my boss and I are in town for a convention every January, we come to the Lake House at least once to get away from the convention center food. I’ve always liked it here, they have decent food and good prices. This time I got the chicken sandwich and a garden salad. The salad was fine, came with onions and tomatoes on the top with dressing. I don’t mind plain salads… I just could have used a little more salad dressing. The chicken sandwich I had seemed a little dry. I put mayo on it, but it just seemed like they put it in the microwave for too long. I don’t know… that experience wouldn’t totally deter me from going there ever again. Maybe I’d just try something different. Water was $ 1.50, which is half the price than at the convention center, so I bought a couple of those. It’s in the middle of the park, which is nice scenery. If you want to get away from convention center food, get some fresh air, then you should eat at the Lake House.

I love Discovery Green(see my review) and this was the last place to try since I’ve already eaten at the Grove and had drinks at The Tree House. I like The Lake House, it’s pretty cool as it is pretty open and is right next to the pond and the fountains. We went on a Saturday afternoon and there were a million kids playing at the fountains, yet somehow it wasn’t too noisy. We went in and ordered. I ordered the Texas House Burger, which was very good. I also ordered a lemonade, which to my surprise was natural! My sis ordered a Veggie burger, which I tasted and hated, but she seemed to like. We also ordered a side order of fries, now I liked those crispy fries! I don’t think the prices are too bad, I have paid much more than $ 10 for a good burger. I loved the outdoor seating, it was very relaxing and being that there was a nice breeze that day we really enjoyed the weather. The Lake House is A-OK and If I am ever hungry around Discovery Green, it will be my first choice for food!
