I’m not sure why this is called French House… The only thing French about it a couple of painting on the wall of a bistro in France. This place is basic. That’s the best description I can give it. I ordered an egg white omelette. I asked for cheese in it… it didn’t have cheese. It tastes just like an egg white omelette I make at home. I had a side of bacon which I kid you not is microwave bacon that they put in the microwave for far too long. It was dry and gross. I didn’t even finish it. I never turn down bacon LOL My friend ordered French toast which she also described as basic and something she could cook at home which is funny because she doesn’t cook at home. She also said it wasn’t cooked all the way and seemed soggy and eggy still. Not only did she not finish it, I am taking her somewhere else to get something else. I could at least make t through a bland egg white omelette. Do me a favor, only come here if you want basic flavorless food that you pay a good amount for. Otherwise, go somewhere else. There are plenty of other yummy options in the area.

This is a cute little shop that serves a mix of breakfast items and I’m sure lunch items. They are located down the long street of Westheimer in a decently busy shopping center. Their food was just alright. Nothing special. They had great service and were very kind. I would recommend to any one in the area.

Our family has been coming here over 20 years. It was originally owned by a French family, but sold long ago to an Asian family who have kept the recipes and décor(added a fish tank though). Best things they are known for — gazpacho soup, lunch special ½ toasted sandwich(I love the pastrami ordered all the way) served with a scoop of their olive oil green potato salad — try it!!!, or a fresh side salad. Their desserts are to die for.(We get a whole cherry tart almost every holiday.) Bread pudding is only Friday’s and is awesome. The French House is an old Houston institution and definitely worth a stop for eating in or taking out. Yum!

I’ve been here twice(breakfast both times), and experienced the same problems each time. Any one of these things wouldn’t be such a big deal, but altogether they represent why I won’t be back to this place. The food is mediocre. The food isn’t bad, but it’s nothing memorable. The layout is a big problem. There is a row of tables right next to the order line. You can sit at these tables, but then there is a crowd of people standing next to you while you eat. You can sit at the other tables on one side, but then you have to navigate past a row of tables. You can sit at the tables on the other side, but then you have to cross both the order line and the first row of tables. This is a hassle when picking up your food, but also when getting more napkins, drink refills, etc. If you’re drinking coffee, this is further exacerbated by the tiny size of the cups. It also seems like they are understaffed. Both times, I ordered one breakfast straight from the menu(no substitutions) and coffee, and it took around 20 minutes to get my food. This last time, while I was waiting for my food, someone came in and said they had called three times to place a to-go order, but nobody answered the phone. I can goto a place like La Madeleine and get better food, much better coffee(in a bigger cup), with less hassle(even when it’s packed), in less time and for less money.

I never even realized this place was here despite living in the area for a decade now. It’s tucked between other shops in a typical Westheimer strip. Inside, it’s a little bland and sad. Not very well lit. Tables and vinyl tableclothes. Two fish tanks absolutely stuffed with sad goldfish waiting for their turn to die.(Seriously, gold fish of that size need more room per fish.) I ordered at the counter, and my food was delivered to me. I had the French Toast breakfast plus a side of toast. They forgot my toast initially. When it was delivered it was SUPER dry. SUPER. And not very warm. The cold butter I tried to spread on it didn’t go anywhere. The eggs(over medium) were fine. Nothing outstanding. Bacon was obviously pre-cooked. And served to me at room temp. I don’t mind this if I’m doing it at home, but at a restaurant — please don’t. The ice and/or water had a weird smell to it. The french toast was the only saving grace, as it was deliciously creamy.

Quiet and relaxed atmosphere for a sunday brunch. Excellent food and service. The food came out fast and fresh. Freshly squeezed delicious orange juice made here. Enjoyed the french toast and loved the cheese hashbrowns .to die for!

Came here with my gal pal, and the first thing you notice is the weird décor. It’s not updated and it’s kind of boring. There are 2(I think) fish tanks STUFFED with fish. Poor things! The customer service was worse than I expected. There were several girls standing at the double registers. When we went up to order food, only one person stepped up to help us. So I waited for her to finish, because well, I didn’t have a choice. While I was waiting, a lady got in line behind me and someone stepped right up and took her order. She didn’t say excuse me, and she spoke loudly into my ear, and the worker didn’t bother to ask if I was ordering separately or with my friend. I spoke up and I said I was next, she totally ignored me. ONLY because we were starving, did we order food anyway. I got the French toast which was delicious but it’s just too bad that I won’t ever go back.

Great atmosphere, great staff, great ownership, and excellent food! Definitely recommend this as a go-to breakfast spot in the area. I was genuinely surprised at how amazing the waffles were. They are unlike any other restaurant I have tried. The batter is made solely by the owner for the benefit of being soft, crispy, and light all at once. If you’re there for breakfast, make sure you get the waffles or a waffle on the side. In addition to this, the ambiance is pleasant and lighthearted. The little things, like the music and friendliness of the staff, went a long way in making this one of my favorite spots in Houston.

Delicious! I was really in the mood for breakfast food after waking from a late night out. The French house had good reviews so I decided to try it. Called and ordered a breakfast crossaint and crispy waffles to pick up, walked my dogs over and called that I was outside and they brought it out to me(thank you!!!). I haven’t even finished eating it yet bc it was so good I wanted to write a review before I forgot. Seriously, great taste and it only cost me $ 15 for basically 2 meals(I was hungry).

I had some time to spare before going into work and checked out this place. I got the croissant egg sandwich and it was really good. The service was friendly and welcoming. Would come again for the service and good food.

Tried the French House on Sunday for the first time and loved it! Location, menu options and pricing quickly make it a new favorite breakfast spot. I had the waffle with strawberries and my boyfriend had a custom omelette. Both were delicious and filling(portions are huge!), and the best part; we got out for only $ 20!

A hidden gem in the Galleria area. I’ve worked across the street from this place for years and never noticed it until now, thanks to Unilocal!:) They have several breakfast options and tons of amazing sandwiches on the menu. I ordered the pancake breakfast with scrambled eggs and sausage patties. The scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly and the pancakes were HUGE!!! They give you two pancakes that have a perfectly crisp edge and fluffy center. Definitely a generous portion for the price! As I scarfed down my breakfast, my eyes were fixed on all the amazing sandwiches that people were walking by with. I definitely want to go back and try lunch. Spread the word about this spot!!! :)

I love this little café! Service is good and the food is good. I had the corn beef sandwich. It was great. We also ordered pancakes, spinach quiche and a chicken salad sandwich. Everything was good and we enjoyed coming here. Also, the bread pudding was amazing! The crowd is nice and friendly. It gets busy during lunch. Parking can be a pain. We will be back!

Their new waffle dish was wonderful. It tasted incredibly fresh. My son Enjoyed the croissant sandwich and said it was really good. The grits was a bit disappointing but overall the food was great.

So, far, I have found this place to be a delight. I recently moved in the galleria area, and was looking for a good small breakfast place. And here I stumbled across the French House. At first glance, it’s cozy, not a whole lot of people filled the place, but it is a bit hidden and in an area with lots to choose from for food. I have been here twice for breakfast and both times, YUM! I was excited to even have the Orange juice, because it is freshly squeezed from real oranges right in front of you. The front desk guys were nice and seemed eager to get my order going. Could be mainly because I was the only one in line with a few people sitting at tables around me. If you are looking for a quite place to have good breakfast and sit a bit while doing some work, hit these guys up. It’s a ton quieter than the local Starbucks(obviously, no place is louder than a local Starbucks).

The French House is a legit little diner. I’ve eaten here on a few occasions(all for breakfast), and it’s a quick pit stop if you’re running around on the weekend. It’s quaint and quiet. I feel like not many people know about this place, so it’s still a gem that you can enjoy for awhile longer(until the hoard finds it, then it’s time to scope out that other gem.) The omelettes are yummy, the croissants are flaky, and the bacon or sausage is always cooked perfectly. Plus, their prices are pretty reasonable. Give them a try, and do it before everyone else discovers this place!

This place was great! I had the chicken salad sandwich and the potato salad and they both were great! My mom had the beefeater and it was really good too. French bread was excellent! We finished off our meal with the bread pudding and it was to die for!!! Great sandwich shop and I will be back!
