I had the pleasure of attending a Freezing Point party at a friend’s apartment, and the concept is just so interesting to me — I’m a big fan of liquid nitrogen ice cream, and to have it be in portable party form? Too cool(pun unintended). The owner, Carolyn, pretty much does everything on her own. She sets up all of her equipment and ingredients and then goes to town, explaining the process of making ice cream with liquid nitrogen. It’s so interesting to watch, and all eyes are on Carolyn, waiting for her to make a fresh batch! We had 2 flavors to eat: butter pecan and cookies & cream. C&C is one of my favorite flavors, so to eat fresh ice cream with real Oreos(they still had that distinct Oreo crunch — not soggy at all!) was almost like a dream come true. I’ll admit that butter pecan isn’t my favorite ice cream flavor, but I still had to sample it, of course! I’m still not the biggest fan, but it was enjoyable, at least. I think what made my experience so neat is that Carolyn said she wants to continually work on this passion of hers, even though it’s not her day job. I’m envious of that — I wish I had that kind of drive in a hobby! The concept of a fresh portable ice cream party is brilliant. Such a fun experience with Freezing Point!
