I was in Houston for a week on business and needed to find a relatively calm place to work for a couple of days. This café has lovely background music, good coffee and great food –especially the empanadas! Beyond that, the hosts were very kind, helpful and accommodating.

We went here Saturday morning for breakfast. Dirty tables everywhere and customers waiting for food. Was told it would be 20 minutes before we got our food. One hour later we were told it would only be a few minutes longer. We decided to leave instead and instead of apologizing and comping our coffee she charged us for them. Extremely disappointing service and subpar coffee. Also, there was a boy no older than 10 waiting the tables. There was also a young girl, probably 5 years old, sitting on the floor of the kitchen playing with dolls… Horrible place, please do not go here!

My family & I are regulars at Soto’s and have been wanting to try this restaurant so we went by this morning. After placing our order, we waited almost 40 minutes and still no food… when we went to leave, they charged us $ 3 for a bottle of orange juice and $ 2.15 for a can of coke — a CAN of coke! People who came in after us got partial orders — others complained of being there for an hour with no food. There were no apologies — no «drinks are on the house, we are really busy — please try us again»…when we got up to leave, the lady behind the counter just shrugged her shoulders and charged us for our drinks. We went across the parking lot to Soto’s where we get GREAT service, excellent food & fair prices. We will not be going back to the Cast Iron Café!

WOW, I was so wanting to like this place but my family had a bad experience that will not fade. We went to this café thinking of how good it was going to be. We made our order and waited… and waited… and waited… a customer asked the server about his food and that they had been waiting for 40 minutes. The server went to check. I also noticed that we had been there about 20 minutes and thought, maybe they are just now catching up and we will be served soon, NO! Another 10 minutes go by and that customer was served but NOT his wife, not until 15 minutes after the husband plate was served. I then noticed that the people who ordered AFTER my family did was served their food but only two plates while the rest of that family waited. An additional 30 minutes go by and still no food. I went and informed the server that we were leaving and asked to pay for my TWODRINKS, one SMALLOJ and a CANCOKE… 5.15 later! YEA5.15 for two drinks that cost about .75 for both! WOW!!! Talk about an up charge. We left and will not look back. One good thing was that Sotos mexican café is in the same parking lot and served breakfast so we got feed BETTERFOOD and CHEAPER! 14.00 feed me, my wife and our child. Cast Iron Café would have been around 40.00… YEA, Cast Iron Café is a loss, will not return… The least they could have done was said. IM so sorry for the wait, please the drink are on us and we hope you will give us another chance in the future”. But nope, they wanted their 5.15… thats all I will ever give them of my money. Don’t take a chance on this place unless you have all day to wait on your order. OH! They also had some 8 year old kid serving coffee! WHAT??? Thats a law suit waiting to happen.

The food and customer service are excellent. My friend and I can around noon on a Saturday. They serve breakfast all day. We both ordered the pancake platter. 2 pancakes, 2 eggs any way you like and 3 pieces of bacon. The pancakes were delicious. They melt in your mouth and don’t really need syrup. I got my eggs scrambled with cheese and it was excellent. It reminded me of home. The bacon was hearty and meaty. We also ordered an empanadas per other reviews and again the café delivered. We chose the Mechada empanada. It is one of the recommended favorites by the staff. It is a beef in a tomato sauce. It’s a native flavor of their South American heritage. The empanadas come with a beautiful side of organic spring mix. Dressing was again awesome. Very fresh. The staff also offered to substitute salad next time I come in because I personally don’t eat salad like that. Again very friendly and family friendly café. Will definitely return. It’s definitely a hidden gem.

Empanada definitely tasty. Bit pricey though. Cute little place. Light & breezy atmosphere. Friendly staff. Latte was okay.

This is the best little family owned and operated eatery of its kind in this area. Everything is so fresh and made to order. I had a girls day out and we loved meeting Suikey and her whole family. Her husband is an awesome support as a retired Military Service member. The Chicken Salad wrap is the best I have ever had. My husband ate the empanadas so quickly that we had to order a second order. All of her teas and coffees are top quality. This is sure to be the next hot spot with a line out the door to taste this awesome food!

I wanted to love it. My favorite place Seasons Harvest used to be in this location. I ordered a croissant sandwich with egg and bacon and a mocha. Mocha came out Luke warm but tasted just fine. I was done with the mocha and sent 5 emails before I checked on my food. When it finally came the croissant was cold. I guess I didn’t specify toasted. They took it back to warm it up and it came back as rubber. They microwaved it beyond chewing. They did offer to remake it but at that point it had been 40mins. No refund was offered.

Scene: Hungry morning breakfast within short drive Gorgeous place — good for singles, people with kids, seniors etc. Not crowded so it provides a little serene breakfast conducive for breakfast chatter. Great coffee, hip, awesome wifi, good food options. Love the wrap and omelette. Staff and Owner is friendly and upscale environment. Disclaimer: if you are in a hurry to get food, this may not be the best place for you.

Delightful little place. We found this while we were waiting for Habitat store to open at 10:00 and decided to have coffee and breakfast. Very comfortable place and decorated cute and cozy. Service was wonderful, food was great. We can’t wait to come back to try lunch options.

I have eaten here several times for both lunch and breakfast. Never been disappointed! The wraps are delicious, and fresh. Outside dining/eating on the veranda, which I enjoy. Wi-fi ! The desserts are exceptional– cakes/muffins/pies…every dessert I have eaten has been great !.! Very clean. Coffee could be a wee-bit hotter, hence the 4, and not 5 star rating. As noted, this little gem is hard to find, and is located behind another eatery, in the rear.

Love the atmosphere since the place had a very homey feel and the food was delicious. I ordered an omelet with swiss cheese, ham and bell peppers with hashbrowns. very tasty and fulfilling. My friend ordered the chicken and lettuce wrap, very interesting, had a good taste and the chicken was nicely cooked. The sauce it came with was tasty and spicy, gave the wrap extra flavor and was a nice touch. Overall, I would definitely recommend anyone to come here and it’s especially good for brunch but they also serve lunch and dinner. Will forsure be back!

This place is my favorite spot. Homegrown local organic food ! I have seen some post about it being slow. I have never had a issue with this at all even when we went today and it was super busy all the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. I wonder if people get that she makes everything when your order it. This is not a chain restaurant. You are getting quality food here! So be patient if it takes a few more minutes then you’re used to.

This place was AWESOME! It’s hard to find, we almost missed it. It’s behind Soto Cantina. But the atmosphere is amazing. It’s a cute little cottage type house with an inviting air about it. The girls at the front noticed we were new and asked if we needed help. They were very sweet. You can have unlimited amount of coffee and what I liked is that they have a variety there. It’s not just any regular coffee. I had Café de Ola. We picked seats along the patio. I had the pancake, egg and bacon breakfast. My husband had hash browns, sausage and two eggs. Normally at most breakfast places this is a really heavy meal. But this was done so well. I was full but I didn’t feel like my stomach was going to regret it later. The meal took a while, it was worth the wait. It was a gorgeous morning, we had time to talk, sip coffee and tea, and enjoy each others company. If you are looking for a quick bite and leave, then this might not be the best place. But if you want a relaxing and leisurely way to start the day, this is definitely the place to go. After we left, I was in such a pleasant mood the rest of the day. I’ll definitely come back.

Me and my brother were looking for a place to eat for breakfast and we’re excited to find this new spot so near our house. The place is so cute and have that heights area vibe to it. They serve both breakfast and lunch. My brother had a regular breakfast of sausage, eggs, and hash browns. He seemed to like it. I had the empanadas which were good, especially the one with spinach and cheese filling although they are pricy at $ 4.50 each. I also tried their chai latte which was tasty and had some spice to it. The service was on point. They were nice and checked on us regularly. Overall, i liked it being so close to home and i’ll be coming back.

Hidden behind Soto Cantana. I had a hard time looking for this place. The restaurant is really cute and warm. I enjoyed all the little details that were put into it and the staffs were friendly. I came here for breakfast and ordered an English muffin with eggs and spinach. The muffin itself tasted great but the egg tasted like plastic… Maybe it was the way they made it? My boyfriend also got eggs over easy and he said his was fine. So I have no idea what happened. We ordered pancakes and it was extremely doughy. Probably the worst pancakes I’ve ever had. The pancake was so thick and had so much dough that I felt like some parts were undercooked. I won’t be ordering their pancakes again. I want to come here again for lunch and give that menu a chance. I do like the ambiance because there aren’t a lot of places in this area that offers it.

This café is a very cute and comfortable place with some really tasty strawberry cheesecake. The staff is very nice and friendly. There’s seating outside as well, so you can enjoy your coffee outside if the weather is nice.

It’s a cute, cozy spot, but the service was very, very slow. There was only one other table when we arrived and it took way too long time for our food to come out. The young lady who took our order was very nice & helpful, but I guess they just did not have enough help in the back. It’s basically counter service where you walk up and give your order. The décor is nice and the place is comfortable. Food was OK, nothing to rave about, my waffles were kind of thin and chewy. Will will probably give them another shot, since they are in the neighborhood.
