This was a cool place. It’s 99% outdoor seating. The owner came by and was friendly and inviting. The crawfish was great. It wasn’t like most places where they just pile on the seasoning. I will definitely be back. The beer prices were decent. They weren’t overpriced but they weren’t cheap. The crowd was low key but I went on a Thursday night. They have TVs outside so I could watch a couple different games at once.

I don’t know what the big rave is about this but it sucks. Not s decent selection of beer. The Boudan had no flavor. The potatoe salad had no spices only a lot of onions. The boilin shrimp are frozen not fresh snd the potatoes and corn had no season. Then u r charged 5 dollars on your credit when u open a tab but pay cash. Now that stealing. To pay 61.40 is down and out right robbery for the food we got. The bartender didn’t even get our order right. We won’t be going back to this place anytime soon.

Their batter for gator bites was really good. The crawfish was 6.00 per lb. They were pretty big but they just didn’t have much taste. It also seemed pre cooked. They also charge on .50 on butter and maybe a little stingy with lemons. But maybe they were short on lemons. Idk I was trying to make my dipping sauce.

They have a huge patio to sit on. The crawfish was the regular boiled way. Catfish po boy was delicious. Nice and clean for a bar facility. Coming back to try their boudin next time.

I’ve had this place bookmarked for months so we finally to stop in for lunxh. Man this place left alot to be desired it was just okay. We orderd the gator bites and they were horrible, the catfish platter was okay the batter is a bit much sense it lacks flavor. Thigh hard batter with my no flavor. The ice tea taste strange dirty water taste. The shrimp were good the fries were ok would’ve been better if they we hot. They serve crawfish two lbs minimum the table next to us got crawfish they were small for 6 dollars per pound. If your looking for some good Louisiana food this ain’t the place.

You have to order the food and drink(bottle beer or hard liquor-NOT BYOB) at the bar. Boiled crawfish was $ 6.00/lb with the side of corn/potato/sausage which you have to pay extra for it. The size of crawfish was medium [to small] but got ready pretty soon. It wasn’t warm(hot) enough and got cold very quickly(I admit that we sat outside!). We came here on Saturday night but wasn’t crowded so there were enough outdoor seats. At the end, we paid $ 50 for 5lbs crawfish with 3 beers. About the crawfish, I’ve got to say that I didn’t like it, because of some reasons. First, it was overcooked; we had a hard time to break the«cold» shell and get the meat out of it. Second, it didn’t have any seasoning(totally plain!). Last but not least, it wasn’t washed well and some of it tasted like mud(it was gritty!) Probably, won’t come back again!

Good crawfish. The sausage and potatoes have to be ordered separately. Bad roast beef po’boy. They use sliced roast beef with what tasted like canned brown gravy on top.(As opposed to traditional New Orleans style roast beef po’boy, which is «debris» style with the beef shredded into the gravy.) Bland chicken and sausage gumbo — watery and it tasted a little off. Boudin links were also bland, though not terrible. If you grew up eating these, the flavor and texture were just a little off. The atmosphere is casual, and there’s a big outdoor space. Has a nice crawfish boil feel. They keep the tv turned up pretty loud so you’ll definitely be able to hear the game, but I wouldn’t count on talking. There were a number of people smoking outside when we were there so we ended up sitting inside. The atmosphere inside is less desirable. All in all, not my top choice for Cajun food in H’town.

I had this place bookmarked ever since crawfish season arrived. Finally, after trying just about every location in the neighborhood. we decided to drop in and experience the much raved about cajun joint. We came on a Saturday at about 1pm and it was crowded! We walked in and realized right away that this was a «pay at the counter and take a seat» kind of place. We placed our order, got our number signs and proceeded to find a table to realize there were no tables. I never like restaurants that allow you to pay without realizing they have reached full capacity. minus one star. Finally. about an hour later. we get our crawfish. We ordered 3 lbs, however, I guess due to the size of the crawfish, it looked like 1lb. The crawfish were cooked perfectly, however, they lacked any seasoning and the meat was dry of any liquid. I like my crawfish to be a little bit juicy, so that was disappointing. We ended up ordering another 3lbs, plus an appetizer, and added a few corns and potatoes. Somehow, after 3 beers, an appetizer and 6lbs crawfish we racked up a $ 100 bill! So not worth that expense for mediocre food and a below average environment. We won’t be back. there are better locations in the area for seafood.

Amazing Cajun crawfish boil with great outdoor seating! 3 people devoured 10lbs pretty easily, complete with corn, fries, sausage, potatoes, bloody Mary’s and mimosas. The food came out very quickly. I would definitely come back here again in a heartbeat. Wish we had this in San Francisco!

Oh da Boot. If you’re in the mood for some glorious patio time — with plenty of food to boot! — this Heights watering hole is a great option. The two only complaints I have: the bar and restroom situation. There is only one bar with a handful of bartenders serving dozens and dozens and dozens of people thirsty people. As for the restroom — well, there is only one male and female stall. And ladies, you know that line is loooooong. And after drinking a couple of beers, you’ll find yourself in line much longer than actually enjoying the patio. Parking can be another issue, but do yourself a favor and go early or on a weekday. The Boot is NOT dog-friendly, but they are kid friendly. Lots and lots of kiddos. Crawfish is good, beers are cold, food comes out fast.

Met Tonia K. & Donovan P. for dinner and drinks. We started with crawfish, which was $ 6.50/lb. This is the cheapest I’ve paid this season and were just ok. They were an ok size but were cooked too long which made the meat hard to come out of the shell. We all ordered different versions of the pick 2 combo platter and i enjoyed the shrimp & catfish. I chose crawfish étouffée as my side and it was the perfect accompaniment to the meal. The Boot has a full bar and an assortment of beer. There’s indoor and outdoor seating and TV’s galore. The only negative is parking. There’s street parking and double parking in front of the establishment. If you decide to double park, be on the listen out for your car type to be called out on a megaphone by a bartender.

What? A Cajun place up in the Heights you say??? Hmmm, I shall give this place 4.25 stars. Located just a hop, skip and a jump down the street from Cedar Creek, I stumbled upon this hidden gem when I was on a mission, a crawfish mission to be exact. It was a bright and beautiful sunny day so when I saw it had a patio, I was sold! No frills place, meaning… its just a small building selling booze/beer with a good sized fenced in patio off to the right. First rule, order at the bar THEN go pick a sit. Unfortunately the«picking a seat» part can be a little tricky especially when it’s nice out because this place fills up exponentially quick. The menu offers a good array of cajun dishes. My personal faves: the fried oysters with choice of side(go with the ground mustard potato salad) or with the staple, crawdaddies! Yah, it will run you about $ 16 but hey, oysters are pricey So, I’ve been here twice and both have been 2 different experiences. The first, was on a Wednesday afternoon around 3ish so we basically had the whole place to ourselves with exception of like 2 tables(that changed the longer we stayed) So we started off with the fired oyster dinner and potato salad(YUM) and 5 pounds of crawfish. The batter on the oysters was so crisp and light, it really let you appreciate the full flavor of the oysters. The weird part was they served it with some weird«looked like liquid tartar sauce but tasted like straight mayonnaise sauce» so ewww. As for the Crawfish… so friggin DELICIOUS!!! Only $ 6.50/pd and worth every penny… and I’m a tough crowd. So as I was saying, the crawfish came out large and HOT and we were enjoying ourselves… until we decided to order another 3 lbs. These came out luke warm, zero spice or seasoning and just no flavor: these crawfish made me sad =(So what was the difference? Maybe since there was no crowd when we first got there, the crawfish had longer to cook/marinate in all the spicy goodness opposed to the second batch when this place was party central and they were serving tray after tray after tray of the mudbugs. I dunno, just my conclusion. The second experience… Good Friday afternoon around 4pm… place is CRAZY packed!!! I figured most people would still be at work but boy was I wrong. The bartender claimed the crowd started at 11a. It was Soooo packed, we had to sit at the bar for about 45 mins so we could stalk out a table to sit at. As expected, the oysters were still on point, if not better, and they actually properly made the tartar sauce this time too(however the red beans and rice where nothing special) BUT the crawfish AGAIN came up meh. Really small, not much flavor but again so we just ended up finishing our measly disappointing 5 lbs and moved on to the next crawfish stop. Conclusion: cute place to meet up with your crew to slam back some cold beers, play some corn-hole and grub out on some yum yum cajun food. I approve of this place and glad we found it. It can get hectic busy(buts thats a good problem to have) and hence why I suggest adding about 5 – 10 more picnic tables out there. With the proper organization, I believe they could make it work. #nomastablestalking

I’m in love. We went here on a Sunday for crawfish. Like others have mentioned, they have some«indoor» open air seating but majority is outdoor — some covered patio, the rest uncovered. We ordered at the bar and snatched a table outside.(I’d recommend getting there early if you have a big party.) For the picky crawfish eaters: there is only 1 type; no mild/spicy or different flavors; good news is that they’re well seasoned and were HUGE when we went; Plus if you really need extra spicy, they have an array of hot sauces and powders to add to your dish. Did I mention it was only $ 6/50/lb? Other things I’d suggest trying: the seasoned fries(they oddly taste like funions and are really addicting) and the bread pudding(it’s a huge slice but something you can’t pass up!) Parking is crazy but I love the system they put in place. You’ll notice that cars are double-parked right out in front. If you see an opening, park there. If you’re in a car that’s blocked in, kindly tell the waiter/bartender which car is yours and what car is blocking you, and they call out on a bullhorn for that person to move their car. It’s kind of fun and has almost that community-coming-together-for-a-greater-good…which of course is to enjoy awesome crawfish and drinks! Staff was very nice and accommodating. Let us move tables out into the sun when it was too chilly in the shade. Quickly got fixed an order when one came out missing its corn. This may have become my favorite crawfish spot inside the loop!

Based on my fellow Unilocalers, I found this place had crawfish in addition to other foods. We came on a Sunday about 2pm & let me say, be prepared 4 crazy parking but its so worth it. Its self-seat. We found space at a bench along with some other guests, but they were friendly and welcoming. There isn’t a server that comes to your table to take your order so you must approach someone at the bar and they will take your drink and food orders. The place was pretty packed but they seem to move quickly in getting customer orders. I started off with an appetizer gumbo and 3 lbs of crawfish. Their crawfish is one flavor — mild/medium. The gumbo was OK but not what I expected. It had potential but lacked spice and flavor. Same with the potatoes. But the crawfish was sooooo good as well as the corn! They were big, juicy, flavorful and everyone was there enjoying them from adults to kids. I don’t think this restaurant is BYOB since they have a small bar area but I could be wrong. We ended up ordering a bucket of Dos XX but they have a small variety of beers and liquor. Its outside seating but there are about 6 stools near the inside bar area. There’s also a small play area with a few games. The food came out in a timely manner and its really easy if you decide to order more. Simply start a tab, place your order, take a number & they’ll bring the food to you. There’s complimentary iced tea and water near the entrance. I love the ambiance of this place and its perfect for gorgeous weather or a summer’s day. I can’t wait to return!

Sometimes you have to ask yourself if the stress of parking is worth you coming to this place. This is a popular place so you will be competing with very limited parking and will have to get creative as to where to park. I will admit that I almost drove away. But hey I drive a Jeep so you almost have to somewhat be rugged with it and what better way to be rugged than parking on grass in an incline. This place is pretty packed and you will have to stand around to snag a table. It is worth it though as the crawfish turned out to be some of the best I have had in awhile. They are served hot, as in temperature hot so let them cool down for a bit. They were pretty big crawfish with just the right flavors. We also ordered boudin which was a bit bland but still pretty good. Just add some hot sauce and it was delicious. The french fries were also crispy and good! You will definitely not be disappointed by the food here. I really wanted to try the bread pudding but after eating crawfish, boudin, french fries, and beer, I just could not fit it in. This place is also setting for a great time. The layout and vibe adds a backyard feeling and when combined with great weather, you are in for a treat. Grab your friends and make it a day filled with great people, great food, and a great time!

My best friend and I are on a crawfish mission to find our favorite spot in Houston. The Boot did not disappoint. So far it’s in our top, but we’re just getting started. Get here around 11am on Sunday before the masses show up. You’ll be more comfortable, less time standing in line to order or pay, and more likely to get the seat you want outside. Almost all seating is outside with exception of a small bar and a couple of tables. Get your 3lbs of crawfish with sausage and corn(per person). If you’re new to crawfish, it’s salty and you need cold beer to maximize the flavor. You should have some coronas or some micheladas. That’s your best tip. The crawfish were larger than I’ve had recently, which is awesome!!! You get some good claw meat. The tails are big. And the flavor inside the heads were juicy — don’t be creeped out by sucking the heads. It’s where the flavor goes. The gumbo was roughly 800 degrees hot and too greasy. I wouldn’t recommend it. But seriously, if you disregard, make sure you let it sit for awhile. It is crazy hot. After all that, we still managed to leave room to split 1lb or snow crab legs. Make sure you ask for a crab cracker tool. There is no reason to shred your hands. Also noteworthy, the crawfish and the crab were perfectly cooked, which makes all the difference. If you want to kick your clarified butter up a notch, squeeze some lemon in there and give it a swirl. Next stop will be BBs!

The Boot is a little gem in the Heights that has some of the best crawfish and cajun food in Houston. Parking can be tough to find, but don’t let that deter you from visiting, just be prepared to grab the first open spot you see. You order at the bar(both beverages & food), and your food is then brought to you at your table when it’s ready. The bartenders are quick — despite the bar being packed when we were there I never waited more than five minutes to order anything. The patio is spacious with lots of picnic tables and regular dining tables, but it fills up very quickly on busy nights. There is an additional inside space with seating, but if you can find a seat on the patio, that’s definitely the better choice on a nice night. There are TV’s everywhere, and the patio is kid-friendly. Just beware that people are constantly moving around, so very small children would probably not be best to bring here. Crawfish was great, we ordered three pounds and it was more than enough for two adults. The crawfish that others in our group ordered earlier in the evening were small, but the batch that we got were pretty large — much more rewarding to eat since they require so much work! The etoufee was rich and satisfying, and the fries were a surprise hit — lightly spiced, thin-cut, and perfectly cripsy on the outside and soft and warm in the center. Overall The Boot is a fun, casual bar that isn’t fancy, but doesn’t need to be! Cheers!

Oh Boot, I have a love/hate relationship with you. Your menu has such delicious Cajun options. Your crawfish are the best I’ve had recently! I love your seasoned fries. Your parking is abysmal. The single stall bathroom is not enough for the large crowds you draw. Your patio seating is so awesome that folks flock to you and stalk patrons who are lucky enough to already have a seat. When I consider heading your direction, I have to weigh all the considerations and plan accordingly. I am glad that your management is recognizing the kinks and working on them — like adding the additional picnic tables during prime time and the porta cans in back. I wish people would get over having to order at the bar because the service has been efficient every time I have been. I will be back to enjoy other items I have eyed on the menu. Keep up the good work Boot!

Ok. Get here early. It gets packed pretty quick. It’s a small joint with mostly outdoor seating. Great environment. Kinda like Lafayette and Austin had a baby. Parking is kinda a strange. Tip. Park on the side of the place. You double park(back to back) in their parking lot. Which means you might be asked to move your ride to let someone out. So save yourself the trouble. Staff was very friendly and on point. All orders are at the bar in the front of the house. Seat yourself and first then go order. Kid friendly, Dogs. I don’t think so but call and ask first. Bloody Mary’s were really good. Served in plastic cups with minimal garnish. Which is perfect. Who needs a bouquet of crap with a drink? Anyway also lots of beers and other liqueurs. Water and tea are serve yourself. Food. Nice simple cajun menu but I can’t speak for everything. So the crawfish were still really small. $ 7.25 a pound. 2 pound minimum. Potatoes, corn, and sausage are all sold separately. I think their cooked separately also No seasoning what so ever. The bugs also We’re lacking in seasoning. They were cooked perfect. Easy to peel. Just lacking some flavor. All in all not bad. I will go back to try other items. Worth a shot.

This place has good crawfish(although it was small in size but we went in January). They do charge you per potato(.50), corn(.75) and sausage($) which is pricy for just potato/corn/sausage thrown in to the pot. It was $ 6.99 per pound when we went. They have ok selection of Texas beers and liquor. You have to go in and order your food & drinks then find your seating. I recommend finding a seating first if it’s on a weekend and then have each member of the party go up and order. Seating gets tough to find on the weekends because they have limited seating and it’s first come first serve. You can get better deals at regular bars that do crawfish but this place stands out because it does taste better compared to bar crawfish and it specializes in just seafood. Very nice patio and environment for crawfish during nice weather and crawfish season.
