There must be some sort of local fascination with bland frozen and microwave prepped food. Other than the eggs, literally everything on my plat was prepackaged and it definitely showed. But the place was packed and the waitress ignored us so we had that going for us.

Was not a fan. Food was mediocre. Would rather have gone to Denny’s. Quality of food was poor.

My fiancé and I just adore this place we go here at least once every week and he always orders a waffle on the rare occasion that he doesn’t he does try something new and it’s always good! Cheap food and good quality, can’t ask for more. There is a line but it’s super fast after all patience is a virtue.

YUM!!! Is all you can say about the food. The place is kinda old but you would have to be there to experience it.

I would have given 4 stars if they would give the inside a good scrub cleaning. The floor looked like it hadn’t been swept in ages. Call in your order or go early if you don’t want to wait. The food is good, but you’ll need salt and pepper for the meat items. The biscuits are scratch made and the grits are mmm good. The service was a little slow, but the waitress Karen was very nice. The prices are cheap and you’ll definitely need a take out container.

First time here and it didn’t disappoint. Fish was seasoned well, mashed potatoes were from scratch but the cold drinks do not come with refills. $ 1.75 for a can drink… really? Over all I liked it and I’ll be back.

2 stars for the okay customer service. The food was bland. However, BIG portions. Expect to wait in looooong line and everyone in party must be present. lol

Wait staff is friendly. Food is always yummy! Lots of regulars visit daily. Never had food that is not fresh and hot off the grill. Stuffed parking lot is worth it. Very reasonably priced!

If you live in Houston and have not been here — what the HECK is wrong with you?! Okay, okay, I didn’t make it here until I was about 37, but I haven’t stopped coming back! Give me more, give me more, give me more! I have only had their breakfast — so that’s all i can vouch for. Eggs, bacon, toast, hash browns, pancakes! Give me more! Come here on a weekend and you will have a wait. The line moves über fast so don’t you worry. If they try to seat you in booth where the line is — just ask them to wait for a table. No need to sit where people are waiting in line. Prices can’t be beat! You get HUGE portions for pennies on the dollar. Breakfast like your momma made when you were a kid — but now you’re just too busy to make it yourself. The wait staff are good Houston folks who will treat you well and get you just what you need. Order a coffee and it will be sure to be refilled your entire stay. You will see regulars seated a the bar(not a liquor bar — a food bar) chatting it up with the employees. Just an all round Houston landmark! GO! NoW! Pronto! You’re missing out!

Best breakfast in the loop, heck in Houston. Omelettes and chicken fried chicken to die for.

Only ate hash browns, biscuits and jelly and grits and it made me sick! There’s a heavy grease taste and texture to the hash browns that my sister also didn’t like. She had the veggie omelette and although it’s intended to be a healthy option I’m sure, it was salt and flavorless. I don’t think I’ll come again.

Best café to start your day with breakfast. I love omelets are doing here. It’s nice that you can chose which toppings you want. There is also a sweet omelets. Always happy attitude of the staff. The service is very polite and friendly.

I was on my way home from dropping friends off at hobby. I came across this place on Unilocal and have always wanted to try it. It is a traditional american diner like the one you usually see in movies from the 90s. I ordered french toast with sides of two eggs and ham. Really good. Would definitely come back if I happen to be in the neighbourhood. The only complaint I have is that the coffee is very dilute.

I had a couple issues with this place. FIRST was the fact that there was unfinished orange juice that a customer had left and seen a waiter put it back in the gallon of OJ then to serve it to someone else. Second, the chicken breast portions were small and not to my liking. I had a friendly waitress, she was so sweet. Third, my friend had gotten the catfish and that tasted pretty good. Definitely will be back to try some more of there food but staying away from the OJ.

Your typical old fashion diner, hole in the wall type. Food was fresh, hot, and delicious! We ordered the chicken fried chicken, French toast(so good!!), and their waffles. No complaints, everything was great. And the price is very affordable, bang for your buck.

If you want some old fashion southern home cooking, looking no further! The atmosphere has an old school diner feel to it, it’s fitting for a big breakfast, or a sit down and have a cup of coffee with a group or couple. The bitter sweet part is the line. If you go too late in the day, the line could take about 20 minutes, but it’s totally worth it! Your cravings enhance as you wait while looking at other peoples plates get delivered. I will be going there again and again!

I’m writing a 2-week-old review of Telwink Grill. Service was crap — only because it’s so damn busy, but food was awesome! I ordered the chopped steak breakfast, which had an excellent beefy flavor to it. Thumbs up! It’s a great bargain for what you get(which included eggs and toast). Although I hate liver, my friend who ordered liver and onions thought it was the bomb diggity. I grabbed a dollop of the gravy from her dish and added it to my chopped steak and I couldn’t refute her claim! As good as my chopped steak was, the gravy made it even better.(That’s my tip of the week, fellow readers: order the chopped steak breakfast and ask for gravy on the side). My friend declared that this place is in the hood, but I didn’t mind the ambiance — complete with a lady pushing a shopping cart and dudes loitering around the restaurant lookin’ for charity. Seemed pretty safe during the daytime.

One of my favorite breakfast spots! Get there early because there is almost always a line, especially on the weekends. If you do end up standing in line, don’t worry it moves pretty quick. Not the fanciest locations but absolutely one of the tastiest. More of a diner than a restaurant really. Great food, strong coffee & friendly staff that have been around for years. Huge food portions for very little pocketbook damage. I love all the vintage wall décor too. Order the catfish

Had heard of this spot but being included on a recent list of «top 20 diners in the U.S.» caused me to make the trip. Journey back 30 or 40 years(and prices to boot). In an iffy part of Telephone Rd. A giant parking lot(full) and fortunately we arrived about 8AM(on a Saturday) or we’d be waiting in a long line that soon developed. Friendly and good service. Very diverse crowd of diners(including some real Harley Davidson devotees). Food is quite good and cheap. I had the jalapeño sausage(2 giant links) egg sandwich for $ 4.95 — which I could not finish. Endless refills of standard American coffee(this is not a soy latte kind of place). Go — you will not be disappointed. Their prices for lunch were ridiculous — I don’t think you could spend more than $ 10.

Went for breakfast, tried the biscuits and gravy and the French toast. The French toast seemed more like a fried egg with«some» bread when it should be the other way around, and it also had tons of butter. The gravy for the biscuits had no flavor and the biscuits were nothing out of he ordinary. I really don’t understand how it made it on the top 20 dinners, I’m sorry. The girl at the door seemed not too happy to be there and just told us to sit anywhere when we came in, we didn’t get the«welcome home». Will definitely never go back.
