Once of the most chill/relaxing place on Washington St. They have so much beer on taps to try! Last time I went I tried a strawberry shortcake beer! It was a bit wheaty and hoppy. They always have specials in the bar outside. They have some patio seating inside and outside. No parking very close by but plenty of street parking in the vicinity.

This place looks super cool when you walk in. Came here for the 90s bar crawl and boom, the«special $ 2 for 2 Jell-O shots» hit the ground. My friend and I ordered one each, and a bartender nearby assured us she made them and they were great, she«covered them up» with triplesec lol. It was STRAIGHT jello. This bar tried to rip off the bar crawlers. Left immediately. No respect for this bar, unfortunately. Will update review if I end up going back during normal hours… but I got very weird vibes from this bar compared to the rest in the area.

I’ve came here couple of times. It’s a nice little bar off of Washington. Similar as Kung Fu with the games but it has more beer options and it also has an outside patio that you can enjoy in the summer/spring days. Love the atmosphere here, it doesn’t get super packed(at least when I’ve been) and the bartenders are awesome, very attentive and social. I would recommend going here for a chill scene out with friends.

My waitress was horrible. Asked for a beer list and she forgot. Got the list from someone else. Same waitress asked what we would like to drink. Poured beer and forgot to give it us. Finally someone else got the beer. And then empty beer glass sat and never asked if we wanted another. Left at that point. Will not return.

Taps has always been good to me. I often go for steak night on Tuesdays with a couple friends. The rib-eye is amazing, so good that I’m that guy who orders twice from time to time. The crowd is down to earth. I always make a friend or two whenever I visit. The bartenders are attentive(shout out to Pip & Stephanie). I’ve come in on some busy days as well and always received good service from the other bartenders. If nothing else though, you have to hit up steak night. Oh I forgot, they also serve lots of beers and make some pretty good shots. The drink prices are very reasonable which means a lot coming from me. Lil’ Dickey himself would likely approve.

I went to Taps for a networking event. While it’s within walking distance from where I work, this was my first time checking it out. There’s a Unilocal deal for checking in where you get a free beer. I had read some reviews where fellow Unilocalers had some trouble using the deal and I kind of fell in the same boat. Even though the Unilocal deal doesn’t specify it, the free beer is limited to domestic which by their definition consists of crap beers like Bud Light, Miller Lite, etc. I don’t work in the industry but domestic to me includes craft beers made in the U.S. I mean isn’t that exactly what domestic means? Maybe it’s bartending lingo which I’m unfamiliar with, who knows. The bartender ended up giving me a Texas beer but complained about Unilocalers the entire time. She said people only post negative reviews and how it’s annoying and this and that. Why would you share your thoughts with a guy who’s trying to use a Unilocal deal? My two cents. People do remember bad experiences more than good ones and they are more likely to try to take action when they’ve had a really bad experience. With that being said, active Unilocalers tell it how it is. The majority of my reviews are positive because I’ve had a great experience. When I’ve had a bad experience, I don’t sugarcoat things. Unilocal provides a great service to the community and I appreciate my fellow Unilocaler’s candor and honesty in describing their experiences. If you’re in the restaurant/bar business, I understand how some reviews can be frustrating. But that doesn’t excuse grouping everyone together and insulting Unilocalers as a whole. Some fellow Unilocalers have touched on the fact that their are some cleanliness issues at this bar. Another has said that there’s new management so this issue has been remedied. I didn’t have any problems with my beer and I like how Taps has a large selection of beers on draft. They also have a nice patio area with corn hole in the back. With bars opening and closing every day, service goes a long way.

Since I heard new ownership took over, we thought we would give it another try. It wasnt bad before, but just bad service. We met the new Owner, Rusty, and, he was a really nice guy. We went for a Rockets game recently and we had a really good time. Probably 8 of us, service was great. Drinks came out fast. We all were impressed. Much much better place now. We will be back again soon for sure.

Where do I start? Sunday afternoon hoping to find a spot to enjoy a little day drinking. #Fail Service? Who ever the chick bartender is(didn’t introduce herself) had so much attitude. Once I found this place on Unilocal and saw the«free pint» with a purchase(No restrictions on beer are listed btw), I went in for my second round and mentioned the deal to the female bartender.(Same woman as stated above). Wanna know the response I got? Wait for it… Epic. «Of gosh… We haven’t done that in years… Wow» I stayed silent to see what ridiculous thing I would hear next. She said and I quote«if I honor that it will only be for bud light, Miller, Budweiser» I’m sorry what? There are no restrictions listed to what you order and what other places on Washington Ave, downtown, midtown, even eado would act that way? None. I was drinking a Alaskan White Ale, which was only $ 5 a pint; not exactly breaking their bottom line. One of the almost 100 beers they have on tap and I was limited down to the shittiest beers she offered. (It gets worse) Cleanliness My Husband ordered a crown and Coke. The first one was just a regular single shot and had a brown color obviously because of the crown and fresh Coke. Then when I went to get the second round(and asked about the Unilocal offer) the crown and Coke was completely clear with a little tint from the crown. Everyone obviously knows this means the Coke is out/flat. He took a few sips and then we noticed the glass was dirty…(Things floating in the bottom) He went to close out and grab one more because I obviously was displeased with the vibe I received here. He got the same kind of drink and ended up with the same result, when he pointed this out to the bartender(different one than stated above) he said oh we’re out of cola… Hahahahahhaha thanks dude I could tell. Bathroom. The ladies room was not great. Nobody wants to squat above the toilet because they are afraid to sit on it.(Ladies you know…) First stall I went into had zero toilet paper. Second one when I came out of stall I hit another stall door from a lady exiting as well. Thank good they had soap and paper towels. The two stars is for the patio. They are dog friendly as well. I did not try any food or the crawfish which is on Sunday’s. I may come back in the hopes of a better experience. When I come back and the experience is the same then I’m done with this place. There’s a ton more on Washington to experience.

Pretty laidback atmosphere. Our somewhat large group got a set of couches, and they had tons of beer… on tap. Novel, I know. It was a decent place, and I’d go back again for a chill fun night with a bunch of friends. But it’s nothing tooooo special. It doesn’t stand out completely in my mind, and could have been any of the 10 other hangout bars on Washington. Prices were fairly reasonable. A good place to take a date when you want to just hang out, have some drinks, and talk.

I’ll put up with bellow average service if a place is really busy but I was there last night for the first time(maybe 30 people in the bar) and it the service was terrible. On top of the bad service the bartenders were beyond rude. I asked for a glass of ice water(after my wife got one with her drink) and one of the bartenders(a guy) pointed to a pitcher of water and said«Get it there» and walked off. I flagged him down and said«No, I would like a glass of ice water like you gave my wife» He rolled his eyes and said«Give me a few minutes.» I just walked off. My wife ordered her second drink and the bartender flirted with her and watched her«Walk away» while saying«Damn!» Literally right in front of me. Guys always get worse service then girls, but there’s no need to be rude and objectify someone’s wife with her husband standing there. They have a good beer selection. That’s the ONLY positive I’ll say about this place. Won’t be back.

Pros: Especially compared to the bars nearby, Taps wasn’t uncomfortably packed. We were there on a Saturday to watch some college football, and(even though TCU, Tech, UT, and A&M had games), the bar wasn’t packed at all! TONS of room inside and outside. We we able to play cornhole and shuffleboard. And Galaga. Love that Taps has so many games and plenty of seating. CONS: 1. A lot of the beers tasted VERY off last night. I think the tap line was bad. We returned two or three beers. 2. Their food is not good. 3. No one on staff knew how to change the channels on the TVs. There are three TV outside by the cornhole, and we wanted the A&M game on one TV, since a lot of Tech fans wanted to continue watching their game. It took about ten minutes and a lot of stress to get the TVs right. And then, after the Tech game ended, we tried to get the Vandy/Olé Miss game on one of the TVs, but we ended up just giving up after a few minutes. It seems that the staff don’t know which cable boxes belong to which TVs or something, but it was pretty ridiculous. I’d be open to going back if they fix the beer situation and if they can figure out how to change the channels on the TV! You’re a SPORTSBAR!

Great watering hole on Washington. Mostly beer-based(obviously) so don’t come here sniffing around for the heavy stuff. Service is mediocre but one can’t overlook the huge variety of draft beer offerings. Cool front and back patios, chill vibe, ok prices.

Taps is a pretty solid sports bar– it’s nice that they have free parking at the lot in front of Rebels during most of the hours you’d want to pop in to watch a game, and the variety of beer on tap is pretty good. Food is standard bar fare, and the atmosphere is standard sports bar.

If I were 20yrs younger I’d give it 5 stars. Definitely more suitable for a younger crowd. Plenty of TVs for sports fans. Great patio. Great beer selection and the bartenders know them well which really helps. They need to ramp up their marketing efforts to keep patrons informed of events. Free parking available in a reserved lot.

Great place, we went in the early afternoon 2−3PM. Beer selection is awesome! lots of taps! We were too early for the food. Free popcorn with 5 – 6 popcorn seasonings to your liking. The frozen Blue Lemonade was to-die-for and very delicious!!!

Come for the beer, but skip the food. The draft beer selection, especially local beer, is top notch. If it’s a beer worth having, they have it. Atmosphere is slightly divey, but the bartenders are good, and the clientele skews pretty young. I’ve been here numerous times and have no gripes with the beer. I think the selection is very good and that their happy hour specials are very good($ 3 pints on everything). They have or had a beer cocktail menu that I’ve had a few items from and they were all good. Only downside is that sometimes it seems like the beer lines aren’t maintained and that some of the kegs have old beer in them. I only recently had the food. I got the nachos with my girlfriend, and they were pretty bad. The chips tasted stale and the cheese reminded me of really bad concession stand cheese. Basically, it didn’t have any flavor and it looked like they just threw everything on the plate. They were also out of one of their food items, and when you only have 5 – 6 food items that’s a big deal. I would recommend this place for beer lovers, just don’t come here expecting a good meal to go with that beer.

When I first started dating my boyfriend, we would meet here for a drink every now and then. It was cool. Never thought much about it. So, yesterday we decided to stop by after work for a quick walk down memory lane and all I can say is that it was the worst experience!!! My boyfriend and I are big beer people so we know what a good draft should taste like. All of their draft beers tasted like the lines had not been cleaned in decades. I told them that and the bartenders pretty much just laughed it off. Then I decided to order nachos since I was pretty hungry. Their menu is small to begin with and they were out of anything that had pulled pork so it narrowed my choice down to a few options. As soon as I got the nachos, I knew it was going to be bad. Basically it was carnival cheese slathered on exceptionally stale chips with a few chunks of beef here or there. It was BAD. I feel like I spent a lot of money on a bunch of things that tasted terrible. Stick to water or bottled beer only if you come here.

Good selection of beer but I think I am a bit older than the target audience and the beer menu was out of date. If you are looking to get away from only drinking bud light and the Flying Saucer is just too far away you would be wise to try Taps House of Beer.

If you’re looking at buying the $ 5 for $ 10 Groupon deal on food, DON’T DOIT. Just don’t subject yourself to this array of bar food. The nachos are basically baseball game nachos with the gross dip, and the pizza is kinda limp and sad. Oh, and the free pint check-in only applied to domestics, which are a poor excuse for beer, so I never used it. However, if you’re just going out, Taps can be a pretty fun place, although the crowd isn’t my type. There is an ample beer selection and a huge open interior with many tables. There’s seating, cornhole, and other games out back and front. There’s a beer pong video game, Big Buck hunting, and a number of amusing things inside, and an orange tabby cat that will come watch you play. Additionally, if you’re going to watch a sports game(Aggie football or World Cup), expect a HUGE crowd, one so big you might not be able to squeeze through the door. I’ve seen both events turn into standing room only. It’s not a bad thing if you’re looking for a pumped-up crowd chanting«USA!», but they don’t have as many TVs as a sports bar, so you may not have a good view. It will also be nearly impossible to get a drink, so a pitcher is a good choice. The best seats(in the center facing the giant projector wall) go early; try to reserve a table instead of fighting the crowd. Free HH parking next door at Rebels is a huge plus! $ 10 parking during peak.

I’m not really sure what happened to this place. Just like many bars in town, this place has seemed to cycle between good and bad. I used to go to this bar a lot a couple of years ago and even have good friends who gave great reviews back then(2011−2012ish) I have not been for a while until this past Friday, and when I went, I was not impressed. This place used to be packed with hardly any place to stand or sit with a really fun crowd. When I went, it was empty and the majority of the crowd was not was I was used to seeing there and a lot of the people were actually pretty rude. My friend and I walked in and ordered a beer once we FINALLY got the attention of the bartenders(did I mention the WERENOT busy?). After being served we decided to head out back, maybe play bags or something, but it was just dark and ran down… furniture stacked in the corners, not kept up. so we moved out front, which seemed to have at least some people. We found a seat, drank our beer and left. It started picking up a little as we left, but we weren’t going to waste anymore of our time there. I would love to see this place back to what it used to be, but I’m just not sure if I will go back anytime soon.

The bartender charged me $ 6.50 for a Bud Light on a Wednesday. I asked if they had Angry Orchard, but she said no and began to list other ciders, to which I responded Woodchuck is great. I paid cash. I took a sip of my drink and it was Bud Light, not Woodchuck cider. The bartender had gone of to chat with the other bartender. Do I argue that I asked for Woodchuck and was handed Bud Light? I probably should have. Do I argue that $ 6.50 for a Bud Light is extortion? I’m skeptic on that one, because divey places like Taps House of Beer that don’t make drink prices readily available and entering a bar alone as a male make it difficult to complain to staff and management. $ 6.50 is alot for a wrong drink.

You can’t redeem the free pint offer since they changed owners. They haven’t updated their website in months. If you go Wednesday to play trivia expect to pay $ 2 per person to play trivia. Who charges to pay trivia? The beer tube we ordered had a smell of wet dog after the beer was poured, not sure if that was the keg or the beer tube. A couple months ago the steak night was very good. The crawfish is also very delicious.
