They have THE best salmon sushi in town by a mile. I don’t understand why they have such a bad review overall. I haven’t ever ordered anything else I guess and I also have never come when they were super busy. But just give their amazing smoked salmon sushi a try and you won’t regret it!

This place is horrible. My roomate and I went to this place as we do 2 – 3 times a month. We got a watier that wasn’t attentive. The sushi is normally decent and great on happy hour. We order all of our good, and the edamame is cold. i tried to flag the waiter down for about 30 min. I counted the times that he visited other table and never came to mine. I had to grab 2 other waiters to get some kind of assisstance, and he never came over. Finely, I got him and explained that I was disappointed with ther service. He asked me if I would like 10% off. My roommate and I said that would be okay. Finally he returns with the check. There was no discount. I then asked him to talk to a manager. He explained that there was no manager or shift manager on staff and that they would be going out of business. I finally leave, and approach the guy that seemed to be a shift manager. He had the look. He apoligized for the service and offered me 28% off. I told him that it wasn’t about the money it was the service and that’s probably why they were going out of business. He told me that they weren’t going out of business. I explained to him that is what the waiter told me. He said that he must have been confused. I don’t know about you, but I would think that I would know if I needed to be looking for a job. So, I told him that I would no longer be coming back. He politely said, «OK, Bye.» and he walked off. So, the point of the story is that if you want a discount, complain about the service. Otherwise, don’t go.

Great Deals for Happy Hour! My friends and I come at least twice a week for dinner. Great sushi and service! Love the crunchy roll! Good drink deals… all though house red wine is awful.

Mediocre sushi with horribly slow service on a Monday night. The location is really convenient, but I think I will divert to Ginza or Kona Grill next time instead.

This is an old review, but from reading other reviews, it’s apparently not outdated. I had been here several times in the past and the sushi was decent, but the location was ideal, hence the repeat business. Then… it happened. I went on a first(and last) date with someone utterly forgettable, and we sat at the sushi bar. BIGMISTAKE. We were not alone. Just a piece of glass separated me and several baby roaches. That did it for me. I will NEVER go again. The date was forgettable but the experience was not, in the worst way possible!

this place is a block away from me, I love hitting up this place for some quick sushi and miso soup. Sadly the last few times Ive gone the service has been bad, and theres a «smell». The soup was room temp. I had to reheat it in my microwave. And when I got to my sushi rolls, it was a sushi mess. I guess they were in a rush and didnt feel like rolling it… I dunno. Im gonna try a new place and maybe I will wander back.

Service was bad. We sat at sushi bar and could see mold and mildew growing on refrigerator where sushi was stored. The place was dirty !!

The service is horrible. Go to the hibachi room and there is only one chef. The sushi took forever. The excuse was that they were busy. They had two customers. I would avoid at all costs.

Overall the sushi rolls are tasty. Their salmon hand rolls are on the small side but are fresh. The one thing this place has always lacked is good service. They don’t seem to ever have enough wait staff on the sushi side, so you end up waiting a while. But, the foods good enough to put up with the lack of service.

I’ve been to this place one other time and it was good. This time I was NOT impressed. Rather, grossed out. As soon as I walked in I should have turned around. It was a little warm in there and when we sat down there was just this putrid smell. I happen to glance up and realized where the warmth was coming from, OUTSIDE. The side door was open. So Im thinking«hmmmm ok sushi place, raw fish and the door is open and the ac doesnt feel like its on. This cant be good.» We order our food and the sushi is great. The rolls however, not so much. I was just disgusted by the smell and the heat. Not to mention our waiter screwed up our sushi order, but compensated by hooking us up with more, at no charge. I’ve had way better and at way better restaurants. I wont be going back here anytime soon.

The overall service and food is wonderful, however the only thing they are lacking is sushi. If there was sushi, the place would be the number one spot in town center. Also, I wanted to order the kobe hot rock, but they had the kobe beef but this meal still wasn’t available. They shouldn’t have things on the menu that they are not ready to serve yet. However, I will not forget how sweet our waitress was and how the manager left a great impression, and I will be coming back often.

Well I go to Taiko a lot. Really they have great qaulity sushi for the price and a great happy hour. But unfortunately the service is NOT very good. And when I have ordered take out the qaulity of the sashimi is not on par with what I get when dining in. I would say if you are just looking for some quick good qaulity sushi go eat here. But if you are looking for an overall good experience and excellent service you might want to choose some other place!

All style and substance. Usually sit at the little bar by the entrance. Sometimes I like to be ‘Billy no mates’ Not anymore. Was joined by a roach. Called the manager and he was mortified, not surprisingly, but he left faster than a speeding bullet. All the staff came within 10 feet of my seat to gawp but no closer. I felt like a leper. I tried to explain it was not my date and had not arrived with me. I am an understanding person and know that a roach can be part of the architecture in Texas at certain times but I am not sharing my Sashimi with anyone. Apart from that this was one of those ‘Baby’ roaches and therefore you just know that Mummy roach is going to be close by. You’ve seen Aliens yes? You know how it works. I was not willing to be around when ‘Mummy’ came out to collect the little ones for beddie byes. The manager reappeared and offered me $ 25 off the bill. ‘No chance’ I said. Bill the roach, he appears to be enjoying the meal a lot more than me. I left.

We went to Taiko for the sushi, I left very disappointed. The rolls were uninspired and dull. The quality of the fish was decent, but not the best around either. After eating at Kubo’s in Rice Village, all the sushi in this town just seems sub par.
