The waitress was really polite, but the food is not that great, I got a Trompoburger(marinated pork burger), it’s a good idea, but not good at all. It was bland and no flavor at all. I also got a Cantaloupe natural water, it was nasty it’s made from flavor dust thing that comes in a pouch.

Good food but nothing to write home about. We have ordered it to go several times and they do a great job packing up the food so everything is secure. You don’t have to worry about food falling or spilling in transit, which is always appreciated. Overall it’s solid but we have so many awesome Mexican joints in this area, it is hard to recommend this place. They have karaōke on Fridays if that’s your thing. Unilocal 1002016: #1

I had the customize huevos rancheros bacon crispy and avocados instead of refried beans. The tortillas are hand made. Before they serve your entrée you get a complimentary cup of ranchero beans. The food is delicious and fresh. Most waitress are friendly. There is a play area for the children with vending machines and a big area to play freely.

Excelente servicio y comida muy rica, totalmente estilo Mexicano, no tex mex, la manager creo que se llama Selene muy atenta siempre, me encanta ir a este lugar aunque me gustaría tener uno mas cerca de woodlands. Saludos

I’m a big fan of the other Tacos del Julio locations I normally go to, but this one is a great too. They will not bring you any chips but instead you are served a cup of charro beans(which are delicious, fresh and spicy!). The service is great, even if crowded the waitresses will come to your table to ask if you need anything. Definitely coming back!

As soon as we walked in we where greated well but place smelled like a bathroom! Charro beans as a starter w every meal, food tasty. Unfortunately when waitresses see men and they give the best service thinking women won’t tip as well!(So sad)

Clean establishment, plenty of staff . We ordered Tacos de Trompo they were overloaded with delicious meat. the side order of rice was generous portion and only 1.69. The Coronas fixed with lime juice and salt are the best in town

About six to nine months ago I went to this place with my family and my wife ordered some tacos and I had a soup. The soup that I ordered has cheese and it has chilli spices. After I finished my meal I had some sharp pains in my stomach and my stomach was growling and I felt uncomfortable. We went home thinking that maybe my stomach hurted because that food didn’t sit well with me. Then three hours later I got diarrhea, it was so bad that I had it for like 5 days. I went to the doctor because I thought something was not normal. The doctor gave me some medicine but told me that I had food poisoning. I told him everything that had happened and he said to file a lawsuit but I was working crazy hours and didn’t really have time. I barely had time to go to the doctor, so I ended up just leaving it like this but I’m so glad that I found Unilocal so I can tell everyone my story I hope that it helps with your decision to go or not to.

This was the first stop(other than the hotel to check-in) that we made in Houston. From the outside it looked like a dive but the interior was super clean and nice. I was a little disappointed that they didn’t have margaritas, chips or queso, but because of that I tried my first Micheladas. I hate beer but those things are delicious! The food was great. Nice family atmosphere(it’s a family owned and run business too). Also they are open late!

My wife and I were both sadly disappointed with what we ate there. My meal was edible and it didn’t make sick so that’s good I guess so I gave them one star for that. My wife ordered cheese enchiladas that were cold when they brought them out to her. The cheese inside and on top were not melted at all. Once the server brought us our food we never saw her again. We definitely will not be back.

Okay, no chips to begin with. I would’ve preferred the chips over the beans included with each meal. Hot sauce was not great. A Mexican restaurant should have a good hot sauce. Seemed a little disorganized, friendly atmosphere but there was confusion on seating and in general with the waitstaff although they were very friendly and attentive. My dad’s tostada was okay but my tacos were pretty good and fresh. Portions were good, can’t complain about that. Not complaining, but our standards for authentic Mexican food are pretty high. Good for a quick fix but not a place to drive across town for.

Sorry but this place had bad service and bad food. My wife’s tacos were microwaved and cold. The kids had quesadillas with rice and beans and non of them wanted it… after tasting it i knew why.

Nice size restaurant. Clean. Spacious. Staff is courteous. Food comes out quickly. The bean soup that comes out ahead of time — SUPERB. Tacos were good. Not the best in the world but good. I think you pay at the register when done and don’t get a ticket. I’ve been sitting here over 10min. No clue. No one came by. Hence three stars. Otherwise it would be 3.5−4. I got the Wednedsay Special and I can barely move I’m so stuffed. $ 7.50 for a bunch of tacos and a big drink. Oh and that delicious bean soup. I should knock it up a star for the beans. I’m not, but I should.

The neighborhood may not look that great, and the outside of the building was just re-done, but the food here is awesome! Me and co-workers go here a couple times a month(used to be every Thursday). Most of us get the Thursday special. The Pirata is the best taco, imho, and the Gringa that is made with their special seasoning takes some getting used to, but after a few tries, I like them both the same. if you like authentic Mexican tacos, this is the place to go! Not many places can you go and get lunch and a soda for $ 7.50, since sodas at restaurants these days cost over $ 2.

I think Tacos Del Julio have been taking the past reviews about not-so-great service to heart. I picked Tacos Del Julio from the favorable Unilocal reviews. I had lunch for my first time there yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. I had first expected a «shack» tussled into the flea market. .. this place is a real restaurant! The food was simple, not too many choices, pure Mexican, and fresh(obviously due to the market next door). Best lunch I have had in a long while. Oh yea, the service was GREAT.

Great food. Like one of the other posts said, taco truck food inside a restaurant. I had the tacos de bistec which were perfectly cooked. A little crunchy without the burned flavor. The tacos come layered with a mini double tortilla, cheese(fresco or panela), the meat, and topped with avocado. In the middle grilled onions and a Serrano pepper. Also the tacos weren’t greasy at all which was a major plus. Two things that did disappoint were the salsas and service. The salsas were too bland with not enough spice or flavor. Which can also be said about the service. The food is nowhere near taco truck prices, can’t complain about that, but in return I ask for some attentive service.

This place is a FAVE of mine! Yes, the area isn’t that great but if you like authentic Mexican food, this is a great place. I will take a bowl of charro beans any day instead of chips and salsa as a starter. lol The ONLY reason I didn’t rate 5 stars is the fact that the waitresses are HORRIBLE! I’ve been coming here for over 3 years and I can honestly say that any time I have been here, I have never had a waitress that actually does her job. That is, unless you happen to be a man then they’re very attentive and always ask you if you need anything, but if you have boobs, forget it. lol They rarely come to see if you need anything: napkins, refills etc. Every time we come here, with friends or family, we always make sure to ask for Luis. He seems to be the only male waiter and does a fantastic job every time no matter what your gender may be and is always smiling and acts like he enjoys his job instead of the girls with pouts on their faces. The food is yuuummm. I used to order the torta de bistec which was also good until it was suggested to try to the caldo de pollo(chicken soup) and I was pleasantly surprised. It’s really filling and they make sure to put actual chunks of chicken(not like other little taquerias where you can’t even see the«meat» in your caldo lol) in their soup with fresh white cheese, huge carrots and potato with avocado slices and a poblano pepper on top to add a little kick. And they always serve fresh tortillas with their caldo or menudo, flour or corn, whichever you prefer. The flautas and enchiladas are also good picks as well. It’s gotten pretty crowded at peak hours on Saturdays or Sundays around 12 – 4, I guess more and more people are letting others know about this little place. The price isn’t bad either, typically a meal for 2 can be under $ 20! Depending on what you order of course lol If you’re ever in the area, this is definitely a little place worth checking out.
