By far my favorite taco truck. We drive across Houston to eat here. I’d really drive almost across Texas — they are that awesome! Open 24 hours so they are always an option! Good customer service and generally pretty quick, seeing as how everything you order is cooked right then. And bonus — green(the color of the truck) is my favorite!

I’ve had good Mexican food from Sout Texas to San Diego, California. You have to explore the menu the best dish at one place might not be the best dish at another. I’m glad to see a couple of West coast favorites served right here in houston… I like the super fries(like super nachos but with fries) and I love the fajita burrito with rf beans cilantro and onions…(on the West coast they call it carne asada instead of fajita) around here if you use the term asada you get guisada… but it’s very good either way. If they would make the fries crispy I would give five stars. But whatever don’t take wooden nickels from Indians and don’t buy half raw potatoes from a Mexican…

I’m here right now. I have family in from out of town so we just placed a massive $ 100 order. With that we are probably feeding about 20 people, which is great for $ 100. Typical taco truck fare, great Tripitas, great fajita, fat tacos, and they take credit or debit. Salsa verde is the it’s best to call I. The order cause there’s usually a wait

This place does NOT honor their sign. It clearly states in English and Spanish that your meal is free if they don’t give you a receipt. We spoke with owner and his reply was«We are not here to give free food». We suggested they take down the sign if they are not going to honor their sign. Owner and Claudia Ramirez were both rude and stated«well don’t come back». Plus the food Sucks. Don’t eat here. It’s disappointing that people give our ethnicity a bad reputation.

The food is… okaay. Some nights the food is warm and fresh and other nights the food is OLD and COLD. Every single time I go I order in the drive thru and every single time the wait is exceptionally long, they take your order and if there is a long line, they ask you to park in the strip center next door. I have had to wait 30 – 45 minutes before. I waited so long because I had already paid and not because I couldn’t wait to eat my MEDIOCRE gordita combo, which I had ordered fajita and got chicken fajita. I ordered in Spanish and they got my order wrong before, so when I went back I ordered in English and they also kept getting it wrong. Not sure what language you have to order in. I guess the people who take the orders do NOT know the menu, because if you order a combo # they ask you to tell them what it is. In that case, why even have combo #‘s? Even when I phone ahead my order and try to pick it up in the drive thru, they make you wait.

I don’t know what happen to this place. Their Tacos used to be the best! I went today to get the usual but to my surprise the tortillas were cold and the meat was reheated. The cooked onion was cold like they cooked it last night. It’s not the what it used to be. Will miss this place because I’m not going back.

This is a place were the locals will show up. The food and service was pretty good. Your typical tacos and burritos from a authentic Mexican Restaurant. The tacos had some really good flavor and the price was really good.

I use to love eating at their taco truck location off Bellfort, because the food was always hot, made to order and the guy behind the window was super friendly. We decided to try their dine in location today and it was an epic fail. Don’t get me wrong, the food was hot and fresh, authentic Mexican food, but the part of explaining our missing order didn’t fair too well. We ordered the nachos especiales and the nachos michochana. When the girl behind the counter handed us our order, she also read over what we ordered. We grabbed the bag and went on our way. When we pulled out the order in the car, it turns out we were missing the nacho michochana. I called the restaurant and informed one of the girls that the order was missing and she kindly said, come on over and we will take care of it. When we arrived back in the restaurant, the same girl I spoke to, requested that I bring the actual order inside so she could verify that she handed us everything. I had to iterate to her that it was not everything, therefore I called and returned back to the restaurant. She reverted to speaking Spanish with me, when she clearly spoke English fluently on the phone earlier and when she took down our order. I had to tell her once again, the order of the nacho michochana was missing. We were not asking that they remake both nachos. I only asked that the order that we placed and paid for was given to us. After much quarreling about the one missing food order, she finally gave in and handed us our nacho michochana. It took her fifteen minutes to stand there and argue with us about remaking the order since she insinuated we did not like the food. The food was exceptional, but not as good as their Bellfort location taco truck. The portions for the nachos were massive. I don’t think I’ll return to this location, due to lack of service and people forgetting to actually give you what you ordered.

Two things that get my gears grinding are: late night eats + Mexican food. When they’re one in the same, I’m so there. Out in Houston where Mexican food rules the post-midnight scene, Taconmadre is one of many spots where drunkards of the hungry kind go to get their eat on. I haven’t yet tried it straight from the taco truck, but the standalone restaurant seems to be place to be after 2AM. The weekend lines are deep, the prices are cheap, the year 2012 is a leap, and the food is: beep: I’m afraid I’ve run out of rhymes. It should be noted the place is bigger than it looks. The bathrooms are not made for visitation of any kind(i.e. hold it para siempre!) and like many divey spots, one pays first and eats afterward. The wait staff is almost non-existent, it’s really just a bunch of cooks in the back with a counter staff that fetches drinks and collects orders and cash. And for plastic lovers, they indeed accept credit card. Whew. But for what I’ve sampled, I can say the food passes my test for solid while-intoxicated cuisine. The tacos de asada /al pastor are tasty, simmered chunks of beef /pork that are stewed to perfection that make for a juicy bite. A little sprinkle of the cilantro, minced cebolla, and salsa verde makes these tacos the right kind of late night snack. I was also impressed with their plump tortas, burritos, and complimentary frijoles a la charra. Nearby inebriated gluttons were telling me I should be trying their nachos, and chicharron’d corn on the cob. I know I’ll be back for another round or three, I hope this time I can try it straight from the truck. If not, I’ll be sure to bring a few more friends this time to rope down a giant table where we can re-enact the Last Supper, Mexican style. Orale.

I love taco stands and so far this is my favorite. I’ve been going to this one for years, ever since they were a roach coach :). Now they’re a small restaurant with a drive-thru. The ex-hubby introduced me to it and I still continue to go. Even my relatives from Louisiana make me take them here when they visit. They always get the tortas and burritos. I can’t remember exactly what they ordered, but the burritos($ 5) were huge! I love tacos al pastor or con chicharrones! My usual order are tacos de maiz al pastor($ 1.50/ea and I usually get about 5 for me and the hubby). All I can say is mmm mmm mmm… squeeze lime all over those suckers, spread the cooked onions, cilantro, and green sauce and oh my gahhhh! Finger-lickin’ good. It also comes with frijoles a la charra(and it has bacon!). Everything is just mmm mmm good.

I hear a lot of Hispanics complain about«Authentic Mexican Restaurants» being deceiving Tex-Mex food. Sure, I’m Hispanic myself, but I never care as long as the food is good. I’m open to everything. But sometimes Hispanics are tied so much to their culture, food just doesn’t taste the same here, and that’s understandable because from what I’ve eaten in Mexico, I’d be the same way if I grew up there. Well, that’s for the most part. I haven’t been to Mexico in years, but one thing I do remember is food and their settings. It was in Mexico where I saw my very first vehicular restaurant. In short, it’s usually a bus or a large truck with a kitchen in the back. You get your food right then and there. It almost brings new meaning to the«drive-thru» concept. These places are very lacking in the sense that you usually don’t have restrooms, sinks to wash your hands, or even a place to sit. But for what these places lack in, they definitely make up for with food. Taconmadre is as authentic as a «real» Mexican restaurant can be. Not only do you have a mirror image of what you’d expect from Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, but the food is as fresh and delicious as any«real» Mexican food I’ve eaten in Mexico. The prices are usually cheap. One of my favorite feats is the pricing. When something is listed as $ 5, they mean it. No taxes. $ 5=$ 5. $ 2.50=$ 2.50. I wish every business did their pricing like this. Another feat is the fact that it’s open 24 hours. They serve breakfast in the mornings and lunch during lunch, etc. They’re usually swamped on weekend nights because clubs El Rodeo and Liquid are right down the street and a lot of people eat there before or after their clubbing, but they do a good job not to keep you waiting too long. All and all, the food is great and as authentic as Mexican food can be. I’d love to see them open a restaurant instead of having a bus – or what we in Edgebrook call it: «The Roach-coach.»(Not trying to infer anything with the name). They do have tables with seats, but only a handful, and that’s the only thing keeping this place from getting one more star. P. S. Supposedly a rapper by the name«Chingo Bling» owns this place. That’s what I heard at least. Doesn’t matter. Eat there.
