I actually really enjoy this Subway. When I tell you that I have come here everyday for the past three months, I am not kidding. Before work I make it my daily routine to stop in and get a breakfast sandwich. The workers here are multitasking in the mornings making the bread and cookies. Now that I look back on it, I could probably start my own subway from seeing the bread in the different phases of being made… Basically this means that everything is fresh! But I digress. The employees know my order by now and I cannot tell you how much it makes my WEEK when I receive an extra piece of bacon on my breakfast sandwich than usual. It’s the little victories sometimes. Yes, there is rush hour. It can get very busy during lunch but if you work in this area, everywhere you go at 12pm is crowded. You know when you go to a subway and they make your sandwich differently each time? I am actually surprised at how consistent the sandwiches are here.

Not the best(cleanest, quickest, friendliest) Subway restaurant but it is the closest to my office, so it has become my default Subway. In order to avoid a long queue, come early(11 a.m. — 11:30) to snag a spot in line. It moves quickly though, but it should still take you about 10 – 15 minutes to get through the whole thing if you’ve got more than 10 people ahead of you. The ~sandwich artists~ here are always in a big hurry, and many don’t take care to build your sandwich properly, throwing toppings on quickly as they scoot your sub down toward the register. A lot of times they ask what kind of bread, meat, cheese, etc., you want, but don’t listen when you actually answer them and you’re forced to repeat yourself. Before chowing down, I always have to reassemble the ingredients or risk getting hit with a wad of jalapeño slices in one bite, while the rest of the sandwich is lacking in that spicy-crunch. All the ingredients here are just as fresh as at any other Subway location. They have harder-to-find options too, like the veggie max patty, which isn’t available at all locations, and most importantly, they never run out of cookies. This location opens for breakfast at 7 a.m. if you can’t wait until lunch to munch.

I like going here for lunch. I used to not really care for subway much but this place got me coming back. It’s convenient to downtown and they make some of the better sandwiches I’ve had from a subway. I really like the oven roasted chicken breast toasted with pepper jack, lettuce, tomato, onion, jalapenos, honey mustard, and chipotle sauce. Yummy! Sure there are better sandwich places out there, but for a cheap convenient and fast lunch this subway seems to be one of the more consistent subway’s I’ve been to. Other subways always seem to have stale bread or old looking/tasting chicken. I’ve never had any communication problems at this subway and it seems like it’s been mostly the same staff there since I started going there a couple of years ago.

The good thing about this place is it this one closes at 4 o’clock compared to everything else that closes at 2 pm. Some of us get off at 2 o’clock and usually find nothing to eat because everything closes here like there was a hurricane coming or something. The place was clean and the food was decent. No miscommunication or attitude here at this time like everyone else said. I guess I came at the right time.

Two stars because it exists for desperate situations. See Scott O.‘s review for the rest. It hasn’t changed, except replace guy with gal, the mind blowing incompetence still abounds. Oh, they’re offering avocado and spinach now, but it seems for just a limited time only, and you receive paltry servings at that. Kudos to the great corporate decision to limit two of the most healthy ingredients you could add to your pathetically boring roster of sandwich ingredients. There should be a corporate drone revolt against Subway’s shredded lettuce. Not quite hate, but getting there.

Fresh baked bread? Check. Poster of Jared? Check. Tunnel access? Check. Typical Subway? Almost. Located in the Continental building, you can get to this Subway in the tunnel if you want top walk far enough. It is actually on the way to the Cullen Center Food Court, so if you get tired, you can bail out and eat here. My big gripe about this Subway is the lack of spinach. That’s about the end of my gripes. So why only 2 stars? Well, because it is just Subway. I know I will sound like a food snob, here, but I don’t consider chain restaurants good places to eat. I consider them consistent places to eat. Because of that, and because this one exists in downtown, I will eat there two or three times a month. In that time, I have never really had a bad experience. The place seems clean, the staff(sandwich barrista’s?) haven’t let me down with anything, and the prices are standard. The line gets a bit long, but it moves fairly quick. I have had better subs before, but as far as Subway goes, this one is pretty typical.

I would love to give this Subway 1.5 stars, but I can’t so I’ll round up to 2. Let me describe a typical ordering situation. Guy behind the counter: «Can I help you?» Me: «I’d like a six inch buffalo chicken sandwich on honey oat with pepper jack.» Guy pauses, then«What did you want?» Me: «Six inch buffalo chicken on honey oat» Guy goes to get honey oat bread. «Was that six inch or a foot long?» Me: «Six inch.» Guy: «And you wanted ham, right?» I resist a facepalm at this point. «No, buffalo chicken with pepper jack cheese» Guy puts buffalo chicken on bread. «What kind of cheese?» My whole arm starts to move toward my face, but I stop it. «Pepper jack.» Somehow I managed to stay collected through this whole ordeal. Obviously, the service here is extremely lacking. Children would be able to put these sandwiches together better. Once you get through the line, however, it’s the typical Subway sandwiches which on food alone I would rate around 3 stars. Nothing special, but quite edible. If you’re an impatient person, please stay away from this Subway location. You might lose it here.
