Spec’s Liquor is my go-​to, get everything you need alcohol related type of place! This place is huge and also carries a huge selection of anything you could ever want. When you first walk in you will surely not know where to start, if you come in there without a set goal of picking up a particular type of poison. Picking liquor can become a daunting task. You can easily ask for help!
Everyone that works there is very helpful and very knowledgeable about what they are selling. You can also ask them for any recommendations and the price range you are willing to pay. I am a big fan of this place!
Most of the time they have different type of vendors giving out free samples! Make sure you try those samples! You never know what you might take liking to! Hey… You might even leave the store a bit tipsy! lol. Be adventurous when it comes to alcohol! It will def. be a conversation starter and it’s always a good thing to have a eclectic collection of preferred tastes.
PRO TIP*- If you end up paying in cash, they will charges you 5% less than if you were to pay with your card.
This location is there flagship location, nestled right there in the hustle and bustle of Midtown. When the store closes, they turn the parking area into public parking for midtown bar and club hoppers. It is def. prime real-​estate! They make a killing every Th/​Fri/​Sat night just off of parking!

Has a great selection of anything you could want and the workers are so helpful!
PLUS if you go on the weekend, you get some awesome samples! :)

I do love this Spec’s. I was there today and if you’re a Tequila lover you should make your way on down right now.
I can generally find everything I want except for their Trappist ale selections… A bit lite in the selection and those they have are overpriced. Oh well, can’t have everything I guess.

I like this Spec’s location more than other Spec’s. They’re always handing out samples and every once in a while they have samples all over the damn establishment — I got full off cheese and meat when I just went in for a bottle of Jamo.

Went for Christmas eve to get wine for a big dinner & not break the bank. The staff member helping me suggested a dry German Riesling (I normally do not like Riesling one bit — way too sweet) and it opened my eyes to my taste! Love this place.

This is Spec’s flagship (and I think original?) location. Best alcohol selection I have ever seen, and at decent prices. They also have an excellent food bar in the back with maybe the best po-​boys in the City of Houston. LOVE their shrimp po-​boys.
And of course they are known for their selection of finer foods, including fine cured meats.
Their prices are at least competitive, and, if you bring cash you will get a discount. Also be sure to get a story loyalty card for additional discounts.

This is the largest and best liquor store in anywhere in Texas, possibly anywhere in the world. If you can’t find it here, it may not be accessible in North America. From the moment you walk in, you know you’re not walking into a corner store. Heck, most departments are larger than the liquor store you’d find in your average neighborhood.
There is a massive humidor filled with cigars right near the entrance/​exit, a wine wing that is probably as big as some entire grocery stores, and entire rows dedicated to each type of liquor. Their beer selection is staggering, and if they don’t have something you want, they can usually get it ordered and brought in for you. Same goes for just about anything else.
If you are planning a party, you don’t really have to stop anywhere else. They have party favors, an upscale grocery section with meats, cheeses, breads, sandwich platters, etc, It’s all more pricey than what you’d find at a Party City or a grocery store, but if you’re in a hurry, it’s worth the premium to get everything done in a single stop.

I miss this Spec’s SO much. You are almost always guaranteed to try liquor samples upon entry. If you come on a Friday, you could potentially even leave with a light buzz. There are countless selections of spirits and the wine in the back is to die for. I also love their grocery selection and the meals they offer. It’s a great one stop shop if you’re in the downtown /​midtown area. Lots of cashiers available, debit /​cash discount, and samples to taste.

Love the selection of craft beer, wine, and spirits! Most anyone that works in those areas are friendly and knowledgable.
Unfortunately the women in the deli are consistently rude. I have being going to their deli for almost 8 years now and the sandwiches used to be huge and delicious. They changed the menu several months back and I’ve been nothing but disappointed.

The sandwiches are huge and can easily be shared for lunch. I love browsing the chocolate section while I wait for my sandwich to be made for treats for later.
The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. This place has the best selection in Houston. Stay away during Christmas unless you go during a weekday, though! If you have a large order, there is always someone to help you to your car — take them up on their offer! There are lots of samples too, so it’s easy to walk out with more than you intended.
If you’re ordering for a party or large event, they will deliver your order. They’re so easy to work with.

Bought 3 cases of wine, 2 six packs of beer, some soda waters… had great experience all around, wine was great (I had way too much of the red myself), price was fantastic and their recommendations were right on the nose! a couple of tips if prepping for a big crowd:
a. buy 1 bottle of each, break them open and try them out beforehand so you really know what you’re getting.
b. buy enough so you don’t run out plus some more. return what you didn’t use or chill, and you’ll get a refund, minus 10% restocking fee — sure reasonable when you’re talking a $ 400-​$ 600 booze budget.
c. pay debit card from your bank or cash for the very best price. don’t forget the spec’s card, which is free

SPECtacular!!! OK that was lame but seriously, you probably feel the same when you come here.
I’ve always seen this Spec’s when I’m in Midtown but I had never come to it. Actually, the only reason that I came to this particular location is because this was the closest location to me with the items that I needed according to their online inventory as well as what I was told by a few reps when I called around. The stores near me didn’t have the 2 drinks from France and Bolivia that I was looking for as a gift for someone.
But this location came to the rescue put it on hold for me at will call. When I got there, I was taken back at how huge this store is. They have an area for cigarettes and also an area where they sell food and desserts. There were a lot of employees around and were generally helpful if you asked a question. The line was quick. Great selection of spirits!

All I can say is, Thank You Midtown Specs for being Great!!!

My review today is on my lunch! Specs deli has changed their menu a little bit! They were already pretty legit now these new options are Amazing!
I had the Texan chicken Ruben! I had it as is {exactly how it was listed on the menu} PHENOMENAL

Everything you ever wanted alcohol related sold under one roof.
They have a great deli and lunch special too throughout the week.
Great variety of sausages in the freezer case that I have never seen anywhere else in town.
If they don’t have something they are more than happy to order it for you however I’ve never had this happen.
Remember, cash or credit to save 3% on your bill.

Wish they still had curly fries. Really good specialty foods and cheese as well as chocolate. The hot wings are awesome. The burgers are good but they out way too much mustard. Like a whole jar lol. I have been going to this spot for years. Really good pizza too. Great service. Always really packed but they are always fully staffed to help you out. Check them out for sure.

This is probably the best Spec’s, truth be told I haven’t tried many others but my experiences here have been good. The staff is knowledgeable about the products they sell and there are usually quite a few samples while you shop. If you pay with a debt card or cash you get a discount, and you get another discount with your Spec’s card. On certain days you can get an autograph from a celebrity right on your bottle. One example, Ron White (Blue Collar Comedy Tour) was signing bottles of a tequila company he was a part of. Yesterday they had free laser engraving, this was the second time I had a bottle engraved. They always seem to be doing something, at the least you can get a sample from a beautiful young lady.

Whatever you are looking for this location most likely has it. I’ve gone several times to purchase cases for big parties and the staff are extremely helpful in answering all questions.
I especially enjoy the employees’ recommendations on which Pinot Noirs to try. Plus they have samples on weekends where you can try different type of alcohol– just don’t try all of them because you’ll probably leave drunk.

All accolades deserved! Hands down, this is the best Spec’s in town. Need something… anything, you’ll probably find it here.
They literally have everything you’ll want or don’t know you’ll want from a food & alcohol standpoint. How much chocolate and candy can you eat? Well, they’ll definitely test your limits with choices from around the world.
I was there for 45 mins. and I didn’t even make it through the entire store. They have a vast assortment of all things alcohol, which is nice, because I’m picky and I need options. Their prices range from $ 1-​$ 10k, so hopefully you’ll find something in your range.
Everyone who worked there was really nice and knowledgeable. Go there now if you’re on the fence! Maybe you’ll bump into me ;)
