Great burgers. Thick and juicy, fresh ingredients, well balanced flavors. Fries are home style and real good. Milk shakes are great as well, made with real ice cream not that soft serve crap. My favorite burger in Houston. My only negative is they do beer battered onion rings and I prefer the light and crispy kind.

This is a clean, family owned establishment that provides fast and friendly service. The burgers are made fresh and delicious. Today I visited at lunchtime and got a hamburger and waffle fries(even though the onion rings were calling my name). The hamburger was yummy and the fries were alright. I also got a water, which comes in a cup full of sonic-type ice. Perfect on a hot day. The place was pretty full, but the food was coming out hot and fast. The only downside is that the prices seem to have gone up since the last time I was here. I will probably go to Five Guys next time, instead, if given the choice.

The food is delicious, the restaurant is clean, and the service is friendly. But 30 minutes waiting for a double bacon cheeseburger to go… Simply too long. Particularly when the dining area is 15% full at 4:30.

Sometimes heaven is just finding a place that does a few simple thing right. This is the place. Nothing fancy, nice juicy burger, tasty bun and the fixings. No fancy decorations or relishes, just a great burger every time. The shakes are wonderful. If your daring add the chili cheese fries, if not the fries or onion rings make a perfect side. If you are looking for some eclectic little joint with a mixture of hand ground grass fed beef, this ain’t it, keep walking. If you want a grade A juicy hamburger cooked to perfection and served with a smile, this is your place!

Food was good. Kid friendly. Location was very close to the Double Tree Hotel which is where we stayed.

I had never heard of this place before but figured I should be nosy and check it out and I am so happy that I did. I try my best to not eat fast food burgers so when I am in the mood for a burger it has to come from a restaurant. I stopped here for lunch and it was not that busy but it was also 1:30pm on a Monday. The menu is written out on chalkboard above the register and there are menus at the order counter as well. I was greeted by a friendly little lady that took my order. Since the weather was nice I decided to take advantage of their outside seating. My food was brought out outside to me. Upon first look at the burger I’m like okay basic bun but I hope it’s still good. Boy was I wrong… there was nothing basic about that bun. They toasted it well and it was delicious. So yummy I almost forgot to say my grace. I will definitely return to Southwell’s especially since I didn’t get to try the cheese fries.

Solid burger with a lot of options to choose from to customize it how you like. Nestled in the parking lot along with Petsmart, it’s a little hidden and took me a while to find but it’s adjacent from the Children’s Place. I think all the burgers come with a mayo, mustard, pickles, lettuce, tomatoe, and onion spread. I ordered the jalapeño burger on a wheat bun(easy on the mayo and mustard) and it was piled on with jalapenos, whoo! They don’t use fresh jalapenos but pickled ones, no biggie. The burger patty was the perfect size and wasn’t goozing out grease onto the bun, who wants a soggy bun?! I didn’t grab waffle fries but seeing other tables eating them made me wish I did. Definitely will be back when I’m craving a burger!

I’ve been here twice, and both times I have enjoyed my visit. Both times I have ordered just a regular cheeseburger and fries. The last time I ordered it medium rare, and it came out practically raw. I still enjoyed it, but beware, medium rare is really rare! Your burger comes with fresh lettuce, tomato and onion. The fried that accompany the burger are thin cut and very good. There are a lot of fast food restaurants in the area, and this is definitely a cut above. I would totally go back.

If you’re looking for a good olé fashioned American cheeseburger with fresh classic toppings, this is your spot. Don’t forget to get a side of waffle fries.

My brother recommended this place because my mother wanted a salad. My mother and I went for lunch and it did not disapoint. The salad was large, filled with fresh ingredients, and put a huge smile on our faces. Despite the large crowd at lunch it was fast, neat, and filled with good customer service.

This is my first time at this particular location, but not at a Southwell’s establishment. I’ve been going for years for the one closer the Memorial. The burgers are very tasty, come out extremely hot and just like you ordered. I stopped in and got a jalapeño cheeseburger and some waffle fries. It was made really well, burger was very juicy, and the toppings were fresh. I wish I would have asked for toasted bread but that’s my fault. The waffle fries are very crispy while not being burnt.

If the bread was fresh or not so old and dried out. This place would be a regular for me. the burger was great on the inside. All the veggies are super fresh, fries good but the bread was a turn off. I tore up the insides. I am willing to give this place another try if they are will to do something else with old bread besides serve it. The employees just kinda sat there when I walked in and then a lady walked through the door and hurried up to take care of me. Very very sweet lady. Ill be back

I’ve been craving a good burger since I moved to Houston recently, and I thought I’d give Southwell’s a try. I’m a big fan of thin patties, so this was already a good sign. The service was very quick and I had my food in around 5 minutes. The burger wasn’t bad, but it just didn’t have as much flavor as I’m used to. The waffle fries were really tasty, and I wasn’t too disappointed by my visit. I guess you could summarize this by saying I’m not sure if I like the burgers here, but it’s definitely worth giving a try. I’m going to give them another chance before I form a complete opinion.

Great burger, and they don’t skimp on the additions like lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. Perfect amount of mustard, and the sweet potato fries are amazing!

said adventure: 2011.01.19 Wednesday I have a thing for burger joints. It’s not good for when I am trying to diet to slim down my measurements, that is FOSHO. So I was on an adventure with my Bestie MKD at that Target and I had not eaten in a long time. I had Razzgranate Sorbet from The Yogurt Spot in Katy with blueberries, kiwi, pineapple, lychee, granola and choco sprinkles about 5 hours before hand lol so I was pretty darned ready to eat something derived from a once living, breathing, animal. We were in line when a lady mentioned a salad, as MKD was not really feeling anything too heavy. The salad mentioned sounded pretty good and decently sized so we decided to opt for that versus the other options: Free Birds, Subway, and Dickey’s BBQ *which for the record: looked quite enticing.* We go in and there is a HUGE menu posted above the register, big enough print to where I think the senior citizens would not have a hard problem as long as their glasses were on. *My parents are senior citizens and I have crazy bad eyes.* Minimal salad options, but the one mentioned at Target is ‘Cathy’s Salad.‘ also, there’s a side salad you can get with the purchase of sandwiches. Nice. Waffle fries were on the menu as well, so I opted for that. Avocado: yes, I will have some of that too. MKD: Cathy’s Salad. Me: Mushroom Swiss Burger w/Avocado and a side of Waffle Fries. If you order water you get a big styrofoam cup with the cute crushed ice. Self serve water and ice tea on the station to the left. PS Restrooms are easy to find and single stall. Super bright white lit sign that says, ‘RESTROOMS,’ to the left of the water, tea, lemon/lime/utensil counter. They also have bottled water. Food did not take long to come out. MKD’s salad was very reasonably sized for the price with thin but nicely cut pieces of chicken on top. My Waffle fries looked as if fried in old oil. Theeeeeeey were crispy. I did not devour all. As for my burger: love the bun. tasty. Soft on top and lightly toasted on the inside. Just enough crisp. Three small slivers of avocado were awaiting me on the inside, which made me a bit sad, since I know small avocados are about 70 cents and paid 95 for three even smaller slivers. So besides those two things that made me sad: over all OK joint. clean. Also, to not crane your necks: they have menus on the counter where you pay. We totally just did not see them at all LOL SMHFAIL: D Two very hungry girls: 16 something. not bad. :) Lesson learned: Def save my waffle fry craving strictly for Chick-fil-A. The moral of the story IS: If I am in the area *heights* and craving a burger, I will mosey here. If not, I will not go out of my way to find this place. If I am craving nice buns(pause for effect) and pico for my burger :) (they do bulid-your-own burgers and have pico on the side bar) I will go to Burger Tex on Katy Fwy.

I can only speak for the veggie contingent here, but Southwell’s is pretty great. I can get any of the burgers on the menu with a veggie patty– something that is sorely lacking from most burger places. I’ve been here a few times and have tried the plain veggie burger, hickory burger and the swiss and mushroom burger. Each one was delicious with lots of flavor and a goodly amount of assorted veg on top. I like a lot of veg and a lot of goo on a burger, and they don’t skimp. Basically I want a salad on the burger and stuff running down my hands… gross? nope! The boy and I went here last night and left saying we would be back. I had the hickory burger with a veggie patty and the regular fries. He had the double cheeseburger with the waffle fries. Mine was awesome– lots of the aforementioned goo and veg AND they cooked the patty well, which is something that does not happen at all places with a veggie option. His double cheeseburger looked really good and he said it was tasty as well. It was a big ol’ thing too– he almost didn’t finish it. His waffle fries were super good, and next time i’ll get those instead of the regular ones. All in all I’m a big fan of Southwell’s and will go there when I need a burger fix!

First time to try out the new location. Don’t get the low marks from my fellow Unilocalers. Southwell’s makes an excellent burger and there is no comparison with traditional fast food fare. Someone who is satisfied with a quarter pounder with cheese may not«get it»… a SW burger does cost more. but it contains actual meat. I take clients and friends to Southwell’s and always get rave reviews… «Great recommendation». «That’s a SERIOUS burger»… «I am coming back». I have never taken someone to Southwell’s and had them be nonplussed. The Southwell’s double cheese all the way with a side of waffle fries… a big iced tea with old-fashioned crushed ice… it does not get any better. The service is also very good… The manager was courteous, introduced himself, made me feel right at home. Keep up the good work… a real treasure.

Southwell’s is really just fast food. The waffle fries make this place a step up from Whataburger, but other than that they are too similar. There are plenty of places in this city to get a great burger and this really isn’t one of them. The chicken strips that we had also looked to be of the pre-made frozen variety that you would find in a school cafeteria. Like the two stars indicate… meh.

Came here for a late lunch and spent $ 8 on a cheeseburger with a side of onion rings. The cheeseburger was subpar because the patty was not seasoned too much salad on top of it. The two tomatoes were larger than my onion rings. The burger was way to thick too eat. I had to remove the tomatoes and all of the extra lettuce that was hanging out of the bun. The service was great, but I wish the food would match.
