Unhappy tummy. Shipley’s and I have a bond more unbreakable than the US and Great Britain during World War II, but I even would have to say«sorry, and see ya later» if all Shipley’s had quality like this store’s. Staff was polite, but I can’t eat staff. At 0945, my jalapeño cheese kolache was hard and dry from sitting in a hot box for so long. Lukewarm at best and the toughest bread on a kolache I’ve ever had. My donut holes were the same way. :/Sadly the driest donuts I can remember ever eating, and the chocolate ones were flavorless. Had to chase each bite with water before deciding it wasn’t worth getting fat over. It was only 0945 when I stopped by. I can’t even imagine what their product looks like by early afternoon. Shriveled prunes, anyone?

Of course I love Shipley. I have to stop here at least once a week as a guilty pleasure. That being said, the service is so bad. I can’t even fathom it. The staff clearly does not speak English, and they regularly don’t understand what you’re saying. And if you don’t understand what I’m saying and I don’t understand what you’re saying, there’s going to be some discourse. There’s times where I just start saying«Yeah» or «OK» with absolutely no knowledge of what was said to me. Great food. Terrible staff.

Honestly the worst service I have ever encountered. The cashiers are unhelpful and extremely rude. They also never get your order right, and when you try to tell them again what you wanted, they act confused and rude. I do not go to this Shipley location any more. I recommend going to another location.

I live about a mile down the street, and I’m convinced, CONVINCED that my donuts don’t count if I ride my bike here. I prefer donuts from here to any other mom and pop, or any other established chain. Sorry, DD or KK. Shipley’s has you beat. If you can catch a hot glazed just coming out of the glazing area, you will have a transcendent experience that you’ll never forget. A foodgasm, if you will. The donut is tender, yet has a good chew. The glaze is sweet without leaving a taste in your mouth. DD and KK always seem to leave an aftertaste or a weird film in my mouth. I don’t know if it’s their glaze or their frying oil. Also, it appears kolaches are a regional thing, and everyone does them differently. The spicy sausage and cheese from Shipley’s is probably the best unless you’re getting them at a specialized mom and pop somewhere else in Texas. It’s different. But oh-so-good.

Greatest glazed donut I have ever had. Maybe Houston isn’t so bad after all.

Not all shipleys are built equal. This by far is one of my favorite locations. It just constantly delivers FRESH products. The staff is friendly and the area stays clean.

Maybe I’m just not used to being back in Texas, but these are some really awesome doughnuts for under a dollar each! They have a nice airy feeling to the dough and the crème filled ones definitely don’t disappoint with the amount of filling in it. With a smattering of these around Houston, you have no reason not to have a spot to fill your doughnut cravings within a short drive.

I love shipleys but this one didn’t leave me craving their donuts. I got up at 5 and got in to get some of their hot donuts but mine were burnt. I ate them of course though!

Stopped in for my first experience with a Kolache. Tried the jalapeño, sausage & cheese; there wasn’t a lot to choose from. Being that I didn’t have anything to compare it to at the time I thought it was decent, though I would have liked the sausage to be a little more substantial. I also had a chocolate donut filled with whipped cream, which was alright. It’s kind of cool to sit and watch the guys making dough while you eat your food.

My favorite Shipley’s location. Staff is always friendly. Donuts always fresh. They’ll walk the extra steps to pull a fresh one off for you from the bakery area, rather than give you a donut that’s been sitting out. If you haven’t been to Shipley’s, they make the world’s best donuts. Better than DD or Tim Horton’s. Cherry iced is awesome. Keep expanding Shipley’s. And this is a terrific location. Been here maybe 40 times. Never a bad visit. Always a pleasure and a treat. And I love watching them roll out new donuts or hit them with sugar.

Not all Shipleys are created equal and this is the best one I have found thus far. Shipleys are a dime a dozen in this town but I sware the kolaches are far superior at this location. They just seem larger, fluffier, and usually hot! Only complaint is double check your order before you leave, I have been shorted what I ordered before(but not charged) and this morning I was surprised to find jalepenos in my kolache … nope didn’t ask for that!
