My first time here wanted to check it out. I ordered a turkey sandwich on wheat bread with onions, Swiss cheese, bacon and lettuce. The sandwich was great with good portions of turkey and plenty of bacon! The bacon was crisp and flavorful and I also ordered onion rings(I read the sweet potato fries sign too late). The onion rings were awful. They weren’t fried long enough so they had a soggy taste. I also ordered s cookies and cream ice cream shake. It was lack luster and was made with breyers ice cream and it had a minty undertone. Over all I enjoyed my sandwich and the atmosphere.

Great little burger place. They have about 10 different burger to choose from. Great taste. The fries are hot and crispy. Love them here. The staff is what makes it so great. They treat you as if you are their best friend coming in for a bite to eat. Love that.

I’ve always loved Sam’s. Great place that values the community. However, it’s not as good as it once was.

Food is ok, service is WAY too slow. It took 20 minutes just to take my order… that is not counting the time it took to get my food. DONOT try and make this a lunch stop, you won’t make it back to work on time.

I’ve been here once. It’s a pretty good place for a burger and fries. It’s more of like a laid back diner and the food was pretty good. I had a burger and onion rings.

Greasy. Delicious. Cheap. What more do you want? Bacon cheeseburger with a fried egg is my favorite. Blue bell ice cream shakes are amazing too.

After finding a job in the City Centre area, I have been overwhelmed with so many great places to choose from for a yummy lunch break. Don’t get me wrong though, I do not eat out everyday… more like once a week. But for some reason, ever since I got to the office today I have had this craving for a burger and fries. Of course using my trusty Unilocal app I found that I did not want to go to a typical fast food place that sells burgers(i.e. burger king, whataburger, mcdonalds, frudruckers…) but actually wanted to try something new. So of course brings me to why I am doing this review for Sam’s. I went in with the mentality of being open minded and just trying something new for a change so yeah! First of all, it seemed like I made a good choice because there were a lot of customers going in and out of the diner. Secondly, the prices. YASSSS! I always love not having to pay so much for food cause honestly. I spend like 80% of my money on food. oops. I ordered the Jalapeño Burger with a side of seasonal fries and it was roughly less than $ 7. But last but not least, the taste of the food was ONPOINT. I ordered my food to-go and I love how fast they had my order ready. Also another thing that I loved was that once you order your food they make a new batch of fries and make the burger then so that it’ll be fresh. The size of the burger was big and it was packed with veggies. Interestingly, the jalapenos were also cut up into small dices rather than in their true form of being a circle(LOL). It was good, but if I were to ask them to fix one thing it’ll be if they could cook the meat less so the burger itself would be juicier. The seasonal fries were a joke. They were SOYUMMY. Fresh & after you take the first bite. the fry melts into your mouth. Only if I could have more… :( Overall, great experience and definitely worth the money. I will most definitely be back :)

It may be just a burger place, but their burgers are far superior to fast food burgers. Delicious french fries and real milk shakes. May be closed on Sundays.

two years later. my review still stands. about the only real reason to go here is the burger and maybe the shakes. the real point of my review here is to echo the sentiments you’ll see here and on other sites. about the general crankiness of the staff. we were in this evening(5÷15÷15) we were one of two customers in the place at the time. took them about 2 min to even acknowledge we were there. then the ordering process was nothing more than civil. the real problem was after we’d eaten. i walked up to the counter to get a go box. nobody even looked my way. but i saw a stack just on the other side of the counter. so i just walked up and attempted to get one. «don’t reach over the counter sir!» came a bark from a table a few yards away. the«counter» is about 16″ wide. the boxes were in easy reach. no need to lean over or reach or anything. while i didn’t particularly like being snapped at as if i were a child. i didn’t really think anything of it. one of my dining companions felt otherwise and got up, walked over to him asked if he was the owner. he told her he was the manager. she told him that that’s not how you speak to customers. and if they were more attentive, customers wouldn’t have to reach over anything. he first called her«sir» then when she asked his name, he refused to tell her. we’ve been customers for several years. but after tonight, it’s highly unlikely that we’ll be back.

A delicious, old school style, no frills diner. Great Burgers… Great shakes… a good breakfast at a good price… I’m a huge fan!

I’ve been eating at Sam’s for years. Having worked across the street in the Energy Tower building it was a quick and easy location. Since changing locations, we still go back on occasion because the food is worth it. Good burgers, good fries. The one complaint I have is the cook 9⁄10 times will not wear gloves when handling my burger and then squeezes the bun so hard that I can see four finger imprints on the top bun.

With it being located on feeder of I-10 I would’ve never thought it be a mom & pop burger/shake joint for the neighborhood. Nothing special on burgers & sides. Pretty much like a diner to me without waitstaff. There are No meal combos, have to order everything separately. They do have a few of their special creations but I only got a simple cheeseburger with ‘seasoned fries’ aka it’s called the ‘long branch fries’ on the menu (It’s pretty much those lightly battered fries you buy at the grocery stores) My husband said he use to eat at Sams old location as a kid with his dad. It’s a Good place to take the little ones for breakfast, lunch, or a nice cold dessert after a game with the team.(Not healthy good but good for memories)

The low rating is mainly for customer service. There is an older woman who sometimes answers the phone and she really has a bad attitude. She always sounds annoyed, she is short with me and she makes a point to tell me that they are closing like an hour before they are supposed to close. Um, so what? Your job is to serve customers until the doors lock at closing time sweetheart. Then their info on google isn’t correct. Today their listing on google said they were closing at 8pm and when I tried to call(at 7:15pm) I got a message saying something along the lines of «the person you are trying to reach is unavailable.» there was no way to leave a message. I figured they were just busy so my spouse drove up(got there about 7:25pm) there and they were closed. Per a sign on their door they close at 7pm on this day of the week(Thursday) and not 8pm. My spouse said that the sign on their door said they close early on other days of the week too. They really need to get their info right online. I hope the manager or owner reads this since I have yet to find an email address for anyone in charge over there so I can complain and I’d rather not cause a scene in the restaurant which is why I have never vented my complaints in person. Their food is okay. I would give it a 3.5 to 4 star if I was only reviewing the food. The burgers and fries are always generous portion sizes and they aren’t a fast food chain. Those two things combined make it decent and their burgers taste pretty good too. They really need to get the person with the bad attitude to lighten up or find another job if she is so miserable though. It’s really annoying. And they also need to get their info on google corrected so they can stop wasting customers time like they did my spouse’s this evening.

I’ve heard a lot about Sam’s from people who grew up in the Memorial area. Everyone said«BESTBURGER&SHAKESEVER». It was just«Meh» to me. I think this is one of those places where the memories make it taste better. The Burger: I ordered the Pepper Jack Burger with everything but mayo. The crispy buttery bun was great. The burger itself I don’t even remember. It did have a good amount of cheese — there was a slight kick from the pepper jack, so that was nice. The Fries: Split seasoned fries. Glad I split them. I’m a fry girl and I was ok with just five fries. The Shake: After the lackluster burger experience, I thought the shake might redeem it. I was wrong. It’s literally just Blue Bell and milk just mixed up. And not even to a good shake consistency. I make a better shake at hone.

We came here on a whim for lunch after we got into Houston. We were hungry and wanted to eat somewhere for lunch so we came here since reviews were decent. It was pretty quiet for a Thursday afternoon. There were probably only 2 other tables in there while we were dining. It is a pretty spacious and big restaurant though. You order up front and then go back to pick up your food when they call your name. Definitely a diner. My mom in law and I had their fish filet sandwich while my husband had their grilled chicken sandwich. We also ordered a side of their seasoned fries. My mom in law felt their fish filet sandwich was very fried — it was tasty in the beginning but after several bites it started to not taste as good anymore. It was also very oily and greasy. My husband felt his grilled chicken sandwich was just okay. The fries were really good though. It was addicting — I couldnt’ stop eating it. Overall, this is an average diner. Maybe I should’ve just ordered a salad because I felt pretty bad hours afterwards.

Great burgers! Nothing fancy here but good olé fashioned greasy yumminess. Best part are the milkshakes. Made with real ice cream, I just gained a few thinking about it.

Delicious, great service and so many options! My husband ordered the All day burger which is basically every meat on a bun, sausage patties, ham, egg, onions and bacon. Crazy, this burger took him out for know return. I had a simple cheeseburger with seasoned fries. It taste like a old school homemade burger. Good prices and great service!

My wife and I went there 2 weeks ago. Ordered burgers fries, onion rings and a massive butter pecan shake. We hadn’t eaten since breakfast and were really hungry. It tasted good. Then we were both VERY sick.

I started coming to Sam’s before they changed location. The staff is great, the food is great, and their new location is large and extremely accommodating. They’re practically just like family. The burgers here are unlike any other, and their seasoned fries are spectacular. But the main event is their milkshakes! I don’t know what they do, but their milkshakes are ridiculously delicious. A must try!
