We stopped in Rice Brothers for coffee and was pleasantly surprised that it is housed inside a thrift shop. The coffee drinks we ordered were of high quality and the service was very personal and friendly. We learned that the items in the thrift shop are all donated and the proceeds go to help homeless to get back on their feet. Highly recommend this place!

I’ve bookmarked this place for awhile and I’m always on the look out for cafes and been wanting to come here to try their chai latte. My boyfriend and I were greeted right away. The interior of the coffee shop is also a thrift store; so there were a lot of things around. It’s a very colorful store, with a lot of garments, chairs, and household items. CHAILATTE The chai was very sweet and didn’t have a very thick consistency. It also did not have much spice to it. I’ve have better chai elsewhere. There’s a high chance I won’t be coming back, but it’s good to be able to find local café shops around town and decide which shop would be my go-to place for chai latte.

I went here yesterday because Unilocal recommended it a while back and I had bookmarked it for next time I was in the area. It feels extremely welcoming when you walk in. I’m assuming it was the owner who was behind the counter and greeted me. He was very nice and professional. I just ordered a large cappuccino with white chocolate syrup, which was good and it was not too creamy or sweet. The bathroom was very clean. And the resale stuff looked neat. If I had more time I would have looked around more at all the stuff. I’ll definitely be back and will send my husband there as well because he works at Jones and 249. I hope for continued success for this business.

FINALLY, something other than a Starbucks around here. The coffee is fantastic. Eric even had some Kona available, and he offered it as a pour-over. I’m hooked.

This little coffee shop is wonderful. The fact it’s paired with a resale shop is a little awkward, though, as I only go there for the coffee. It can be a little hard to walk in when you realize there’s a second business there and leave with mild guilt for only buying from Rice Brothers. Still, the coffee is mighty fine and worth that shame. The first time my husband and I checked them out we had a BOGO coupon; however, the barista forgot to ring it up. She realized after the fact and apologized, then offered us the coupon to keep for our next visit AND gave us a free slice of pumpkin bread – which was lovely and went well with our coffee. Staff here is very friendly and know how to make a good cup of coffee and not burn or scorch milk. They offer options for dairy and non-dairy drinkers and beyond«just» soy milk, the beans are delicious and they’ll gladly custom tailor your drink. Definitely recommend them.

I was in the area and I had heard some really great things about this place from some of my classmates, so I figured I’d give this place a try. Upon entering, I was greeted by the workers and they were extremely friendly. I had told them I had never been there and if they had any recommendations. They asked me what I usually liked and I told them I was obsessed with iced coffees. The worker recommended the iced toddy and I was seriously blown away by how fresh it tasted. The prices aren’t too expensive so that’s a plus. & they do have a drive thru which is convenient. I actually like the interior of the place. From reading past reviews, some people say they don’t like how crowded the place feels but I actually enjoy how the inside of the place looks. It’s very comfortable. The shop is partially a thrift store AND it’s non-profit which I thought was amazing. I didn’t have a chance to look around that part of the place but I’m sure I’ll be back soon. I think this place is definitely a hidden gem and it’s worth the try if you’re ever in the area.

Super cute, comfy spot we found on accident. Coffee is perfect –strong, rich, smooth yumm! I had pumpkin cream cheese roll which was great. Hubby had regular coffee which hit the spot-Alaskan coffee grounds what??? Here’s the best part… the owner who was very friendly like the entire staff, gave us the story to this gem and Im not saying but its SOOOO worth it. I’m not spilling ;) come in and find out for yourself!!! This Saturday morning we came in just for coffee but left with so much more. We will def be coming back.

I got the chai tea latte with soy milk. It’s not the most amazing chai I’ve had but it did the trick on my cravings. I have a sensitive sweet tooth so I’m really careful when adding sugar. I think they did well with not adding so much sugar in my latte! This coffee joint is also a thrift store! the prices on clothing were actually expensive for what it is.(I wouldn’t pay over $ 5 for a thrifted item but that’s just me) But do support them because every purchase you make goes to feeding the homeless. I think prices starts at $ 3 and they could go up much higher. The only thing I would complain is the lack of seatings here. I would love for them to have an actual table so that I could do my homework and frequent here but the space that are available for seating is weird. They have a dinner table, a coffee table surrounded by couches(that looked really dusty), and a few tables outside. I’d love to have the option of not worrying about a stranger sitting next to me because I’d like to be left alone.

What an awesome place! Really good coffee at a reasonable price, plus organic fruit smoothies! And on top of that, it’s also a really cool thrift store! Great nonprofit place that supports homeless and super friendly workers. They even brought our coffee to us while we were shopping around. We came for coffee and walked out with some neat thrift store stuff! Solid 5 stars.

Until you’ve moved from a small town to a place like Houston, you don’t know just how important good customer service and polite staff are to you. This is hands down the best place I’ve been to in all of Houston. The staff really cares about its customers and they make an effort to get to know you. Profits from the thrifty side go to a homeless shelter. Amazing. Downright amazing. They have fruit and healthy options for food along with a selection of baked goods. Tons of coffee and tea options. Rice bros offers the most sugar free syrup options I’ve seen in a coffee shop – and I’ve been to my share of coffee shops. Their prices are great and they do not skimp on flavors. Will be a regular here for as long as I can see. Can’t imagine going to another shop.

Cool little spot that I am glad to have discovered in our backyard ! I like places that are kind of quirky & this place is just that. Inside there is a resale/thrift shop. Some of the prices were a little high for my taste, but its a cute idea & I heard it supports a charity or something like that, so that’s a bonus. The service was great. We were made to feel very welcome and everyone was so friendly. We enjoyed our drinks and definitely see ourselves coming back to hang out.

This place is kind of funny. Thrift store plus coffee and light breakfast. I have only drank the coffee and it wasn’t bad. After I ordered I browsed around briefly but I was not impressed by much in there. I did see some VHS tapes if anyone is still stuck in the early 90’s with their electronics game. I will deff stop back through every time I take Jones road as my feeder to 290 for my morning sip! 2nd time I stop through I utiliized the drive through ;)

Really cool place! I like that it is nonprofit(supports a homeless shelter) and has a little thrift shop there. Definitely not your conventional coffee shop. Docked one star only because the chai latte is very light handed on the spice, and thus tastes mostly like cold milk(I got it iced). I like talking to random people, so I had a nice conversation with one of the Rice brothers. If you’re not into that, though, I would suggest the drive-thru. I wouldn’t come here to get work done, and I don’t think I’d take my mom here, but I would definitely bring a more adventurous friend here to soak up the good vibes together.

Great little place and coffee set-up! The owner, Eric, knows his espresso and coffee. Green tea frappé was quite sweet but good. Seems to have years of experience. Definitely not a start-up coffee business, although they are new. Support small business!

This place is unbelievable! Best coffee this side of Htown. The staff is super duper friendly and the atmosphere is super chill. You can shop for all kinds of stuff too, and all the money from the thrift shop goes to support those in need! How cool is that? I met both the owner and his brother, super cool dudes. The two other ladies are also very nice and they will actually hold a conversation, unlike some other coffee shops… Haha. So if you’re looking for a cup of Joe, or even a new lamp(they have awesome looking lamps) this is the place! And they have a drive thru!

I can’t say enough good things about this coffee shop! Cypress has definitely gotten way cooler since I left it – this is a great local small business to support. Rice Brothers has great coffee and excellent service. The owner is so nice and is really passionate about coffee, which I love to see. He told us all about his history in coffee and was so knowledgeable about the blends they use and different brewing techniques. He even gave me some espresso beans to try at home! The coffee beans they use are Raven’s Brew Coffee, a sustainable Alaska-based roast. They also use Stash tea and another brand(that I forgot) for espresso beans. I ordered an iced coffee($ 1.65 for 16oz, super reasonably priced) and it was perfect. There was no bitterness and it was super smooth with maybe a note of chocolate. My friend’s iced latte was also really good. They also have pastries and granitas(which I definitely need to be back to try). There’s a couple of sofas and a table, which makes this the perfect hang-out spot. The coffeeshop shares a space with New Life Trading Post, a non-profit resale shop, which is also really cool to check out. This place has just the right amount of kitsch and excellent coffee; it’s definitely worth stopping by.

What a delight! Great coffee and handsdown the most friendly service! The shop itself is a clean and comfortable thrift shop with a cool little coffee bar. I had a mocha and it was very good. My sister had a steamer and she was quite pleased as well. We browsed the goods on the shelves and racks. A fun way to enjoy a good cup. The owner chatted with us a bit and made us feel at home. This place is way under the radar and a great place to sneak a moment to yourself.

What I want from a coffee shop: –cool décor –supports a cause –quality coffee(it’s what I’m there for!) –friendly baristas Rice Brothers has all of these things! Especially quality coffee — the mocha I ordered is noticeably flavorful and much better than the mochas from all those hip coffee shops in Houston. Too bad I live so far away :( Well, when I’m in the area, I’ll be sure to visit. And maybe try a latte next time!
