Just had the steak and jalapeño Tacos, the Tacos had little meat totally not worth it. I won’t be a returning customer.

I have a horrible experience in Pollo campero on Washington Avenue and shepherd. No body treated me like that in order restaurant in my life. I went to eat deaner on 4.2.2016. The guy who took my order was very bad with me. I paid for three more order of tortillas and when the order was ready he only put me five tortillas, from ten, I asked him, and he told me to wait, and about 15 minutes another guy asked me to explain him, I told him you remember when you and the other guy took my order, because the other guy he didn’t know how many tortillas came with my order, you helped him, and you took my three extra order of tortillas. When I finished to tell him, he looks to my eyes for about one minute like how I’m a criminal. He made me feel like I was stealing from them, nobody in my life look, like that. For something what I paid for. I don’t recommend this place to nobody. Apparently he was the manager in charge.

This is surprisingly one of my favorite spots to get tacos, empanadas, or a grilled chicken sandwich(is delicious and only $ 4) for a real reasonable price. Also the iced tea is great too! There are a lot of restaurants in the Washington corridor and I am glad this one popped up in the area

The restaurant is for dine in, take out or drive thru. It is very clean and customer service is a priority. I had the two piece chicken with a side. I ordered the leg and thigh but they accidentally gave me the wing and breast. A woman who works there promptly took it away and brought to my table two fresh pieces of a thigh and leg. They do bring the food to your table though it’s fast food. Kind of like Torchy’s Tacos. I was underwhelmed by my chicken in terms of the amount of meat on each piece but the flavor was good. I had the french fries for my side and they were great: thin and crispy. My spouse had the three tacos(you get to choose which three you want) and thought they were the best tacos he’s ever had — better than Torchy’s. Next time I’m going to try the tacos and the empanadas as they looked really good and fresh. I didn’t like the guava juice drink so I topped my cup up with the iced tea instead and no one said anything which I appreciated. Will definitely return and recommend for fresh, fast food.

Good food but I didn’t feel great after my last visit. Really like the chicken and the drinks are good

I have eaten here several times since it opened. I don’t like that they are always changing their menu, I like something and the next time I go is different. I hate that they took they sauce out of the line and now have to order if you want instead of getting what you want. Today I order the half chicken special and the grilled part was cold and dry. I asked to replaced it and they did but it was the same cold and dry. Needless to say today was my last visit I will not be going there anymore!

When I lived in California, there was this place called Pollo Loco that was always pretty good… not great, but pretty good and very fresh-tasting, so at first sight… i thought they’d finally made their way to Houston. YES, I know they’re already here, but this review is not for them! haha Needless to say, we just had to try this place a couple months ago and we’ve certainly been back more than a few times to say that it’s definitely a great place to go eat if you kind of want mexican food but with a kind of south american twist to it. I usually go with the chicken plate and sides so I couldn’t tell you about the rest of the menu, but from what I’ve tasted the couple times I’ve been, they definitely have something here. Yeah, you will hear or read some reviews from hispanic people saying that they didn’t like it, but that’s mainly because this place falls along the path of a fusion-type restaurant. Do you want something a little different but don’t really want to pay too much for it, this place is for you! Let me know what you think… oh, FYI=the guayaba juice is amazing!

Mediocre tacos, less than mediocre service… I know I «should» get the Peruvian chicken since that’s the point, but since I was less than enthused with a pretty hard to screw up item, I will probably pass in the future(especially when El Rey is next door, has better hours, and also has a drive-thru.)

Peruvian food is vastly becoming one of my favorite things. Pollo Campero is a fast food type of spot but I came out with having my expectations blasted away. For about $ 10 bucks, you can get ½ Peruvian chicken which is two pieces fried chicken and two pieces grilled chicken with Peruvian spices. That comes with your choice of tortillas or rolls plus two sides. I went with the fried plantains and yucca fries. And o yeah, comes with a drink and I went with mango juice. The fried chicken was great and much better than your local KFC. Having sides like fried plantains and yucca fries are not ones you have every day. And having mango and guava juice on the menu again, not your every day. Can’t beat the bang for your buck for good food and an interesting menu.

Easy to get in and out of the drive thru and parking lot. The drive thru is fast. I always get the tomatillo chicken taco(Peruvian style chicken, guacamole. Green tomatlllos. Queso fresco. Cilantro) on a corn tortilla and a side of the chipotle fries. I’ve had the spicy chicken empanadas and the queso before, and both are very good(but not for eating in the car…)

I got 2 empanadas and one taco. I got the Peruvian chicken taco which I thought was overworked. It was greasy but I did like the pickled red onions. The empanadas were greasy and not great. I got the pork empanada and a spicy chicken. The spicy chicken was definitely more tolerable than the pork. I also got french fries that were pretty cold and gross. Overall not great just a lot of grease I didn’t finish any of it. Probably won’t be back unfortunately. I wanted this place to be a fresh take on Latin cuisine but ended up just being a lot of grease.

Did I love this place? No. The place is nice and i was happy to have found the restaurant. It was my husband’s turn to pay so i was really excited about that. Anyhow. The food was delicious and the place is very clean, the staff is nice. It’s just a place I may not visit again. Some of the flavors of the fillings from the empandas are gross & the tamarindo chicken is yummy. Now that’s one flavor I do actually recommend. The reason I don’t give it a five star is because the food gave me heart burn. The more I ate the worst I felt. Food is to be nurishing & it’s supposed energize the body. It’s not good when food depletes your energy and then makes u lathargic. In short, I don’t eat junk food. This is junk food. Have a nice day.

Omg, Pollo Campero, how I do love thee, lol. I must admit that I am totally addicted to the Peruvian grilled chicken — it is always super tender and so full of flavor; I love that citrusy note that you get when you bite into it. The empanadas are delicious, flaky and just the right size if you just want a snack. My fave sides are the plantains which are always tender, sweet and on point; yucca fries which are nice and crispy out the outside and perfectly tender on the inside; the Chilean Tomato & Cucumber salad which is so refreshing and has a nice tang. A must have drink is the Agua de Jamaica or Hibiscus Tea which is super refreshing and sweetened just perfectly. The service here is always quick and the staff is friendly; plus drive-thru can move rather swiftly as well.

The chicken here is amazing. I didn’t even know chicken could taste better but it can and they know how to do it right here. Even though I removed the skin from my chicken it did not rob it of the flavor. I wonder how do they make their chicken taste so amazing. Oh and the hibiscus tea… amazing! The staff there are very kind and they believe in keeping a clean restaurant. If I am to do fast food chicken then I am coming here because they definitely do it right. Even the black beans were amazing. Great food. I will return.

I wanna give this place the dozens of stars it deserves because it’s so great. One reason I am giving it four stars is because this is the only location I am familiar with. I hope to see it grow in other parts of the city too. Another reason I chopped off the fifth star is the fact that it can be very pricey. I’ve been to other locations, like one in FL, and though it’s the same company/brand, the menus can be slightly different. I’ve seen Pollo Campero locations close down before; so, of course I hope more people can give this place a chance, given the fact that it’s in a popular area. Overall, the food is great. I wish they served the plantains with beans and sour cream like I’ve always had it, but I’ve never tried to order it that way so maybe you can! The chicken is so crispy, oh man. It’s juicy and flavorful. If you’re a Hispanic person like me, you’d understand how badly we need this!

Pollo Campero is no bueno. I tried this restaurant when it first opened. I was excited that there was a new place that was close to the house that I could grab a quick bite. I tried it right after they opened and I excused the less than stellar food as growing pains. Unfortunately I was wrong wrong wrong. The man was hungry the other night on the way home and we weren’t wanting to go anywhere to sit down and he had never been and I relented and let him try Pollo Campero. He is free to review his own meal and I will focus on mine. I ordered the tomatillo chicken taco. Peruvian style chicken, fresh made guacamole, queso fresco, green tomatillos and cilantro. Sounds amazing. Unfortunately it was a mushy, off tasting mess. I was able to swallow one bite and I was really sorry that I did. I truly understood what it meant for my stomach to churn as soon as this reached my gut. I spent the rest of the evening sorry that I had swallowed this and not spit it out. Even the man who can eat anything took a bite and made that face that people make right before they heave. Fool me once Pollo Campero, fool me twice there will not be a thrice.

I don’t know if it was because of a disappointing dinner at the place across the street but my family and I had to get a taste as we walked by this interesting establishment. Halfway full, hubby and I ordered the 3 piece fried chicken with sweet plantains and yucca fries. My kids had the cinnamon sticks. We enjoyed every bite of the tasty super crispy chicken and both sides. Very eager to come back and try their grilled chicken and empanadas… And more fried chicken. Don’t forget to check in for a free Latin drink. Mix the mango and guava together!
