Compared to the phở at Nom Nom noodles just a block away, Phở Basil is slightly better. I would still go to either one based on convenience. The four stars actually is for their banh mis. I usually get either the grilled pork or the omelet and their bread has a texture that is different from other french bread banh mihs. It’s a little softer and toasted such that the bread takes a back seat to the tastier content of the sandwich. We’ve mostly ordered to go from here but the couple of times we’ve eaten in restaurant, the staff has been very nice and attentive. I wouldn’t give it a second thought to dine in if this was the best option. I recommend this place.

Average food — pricey for the amount. Skimpy vegetables, spring rolls were soggy. We love phở, but this was below mediocre. Probably won’t return.

Phở is mediocre. Spring rolls are mediocre as well. Won’t be back!

This place was awesome. No clue what these other reviews are talking about. It’s a top 5 imo and I love phở. highly recommended.

Everything I’ve tried tastes pretty good, but the only thing that’s frustrating about this place is that they’re stingy on the meat(in phở, rice plates, vermicelli bowls). For the same price you can go elsewhere and get a better serving. This place is down the street from where I live, so it’s more convenient for me to just settle and come here. Hopefully they read this review and do better with their portions. Especially since I do come here frequently.

This is by far my least favorite place to get Phở. I only come here when I’m craving for Phở and don’t have much time for lunch. Like many have mentioned, the phở here is not very impressive or live up to any Vietnamese’s standards. The price and portion aren’t my problem. The phở itself is quiet boring to eat. It’s not bad, it’s edible, but if i have time on my hands, i wouldn’t come here. The restaurant itself is nice. Clean for the most part and service has been good on the handful of times I’ve eaten here. For the lunch menu, you’ll get phở or vermicelli dish, a soft drink, and a side for $ 8.95. Phở itself is about $ 7, so pretty good deal.

I really liked the phở here! The broth was really good and tasteful… the garnish added was a great touch! I had the shrimp and eye round steak! Good job phở basil!

Cute casual diner. Food was ok, nothing special. Peanut sauce was watered done and beef in vermicelli bowl was not good quality and dry.

I tend to order food here because of convenience and the pricing. It’s basic phở and fried dumplings. I’ve also had the fried rice here and I didn’t care for it too much. I like to add LOTS of hoisin sauce to my soup anyways, so it doesn’t really bug me that I have to add stuff to my phở. I like to order things to-go rather than dine in, and the lunch special is a really good deal. I’d rather order from here than travel down Bellaire to get the really good stuff. Call me lazy, but this place isn’t really that bad.(just seriously, don’t order the fried rice)

Came to this location for the first time! It was clean and the atmosphere was very comfortable. The service was amazing. The staff made sure that I had everything I needed and checked in with me regularly. They were very attentive and the food was great. I had a big bowl of Phö and the coconut water! The price was very reasonable! I will definitely come back to this place again for lunch!

Wings –flavored with nuoc mam, so it may smell funny to others, and they are a small size Egg roll appetizer –Vietnamese people love to wrap the lettuce to dip it in te fish sauce, this is not the case! They’re a little skimpy on the lettuce Pork vermicelli bowl –there was enough pork on the bowl, I would’ve preferred more but it was good for portion size. They give you A LOT of noodles, usually it would come with cucumbers, lettuce and herbs at the bottom, but it did Not, it came with very little but it still appears as a bowl with veggies hence the carrots.(I asked for fried egg & eggroll) ***the egg is fully cooked when asked for a fried egg Dumplings –not bad, but be careful when eating the grease from biting may drop on your pants or shirt(experience) Service –it was a slow day it wasn’t bad, but if you need something you will definitely have to call them over! They won’t check on you and ask how your food is* Drinks –your sodas come in a can, and they will give you a cup of ice! Fish sauce –mines came with no chilli or anything added so feel free to add Siracha or ask for sa te to spice it up!

Great place to grab phở ‘fo lunch if you’re in the energy corridor. The service is pretty quick and the lunch specials are a great deal(side, soda, soup(or sandwich — see what I did there?). I’ve been getting the phở and switching between the dumplings and egg roll. The phở is pretty solid, broth is pretty loaded with flavor(read: MSG), but hey it tastes good, especially now that its beginning to drop below 70degF in Houston(so it’s pretty much winter and ‘freezing’ now). You get to pick two different proteins(and there are like 8 choices to choose from). The dumplings are awesome because they are deep fried vs pan fried so this means ALLTHESIDES are crispy. The egg roll is alright too, but I’m partial to the dumplings. The only downside which is why I’m not 5 starring is that the service is pretty sad, once you’ve ordered and gotten your food say goodbye to your waitress/waiter, even if there are only a few people in the restaurant. So hopefully you got everything you needed because that soda or water is never gonna get refilled.

Had lunch here for a few times during weekday. They have lunch special for 1 spring roll/summer roll + 1 choice of phở soup/entrée with rice(for 8.99 or so? I could be wrong…), which is a good deal. Not as authentic as some places in midtown or sugar land, but it’s ok and close to work, so nothing to complain.

It was okay, not great but alright. I may go again but probably not. I give it a 5⁄10. Probably the most average meal I’ve had in a while.

You know it’s bad when you’ve added a lot of hoisin sauce and siracha and the phở’s broth still wasn’t good enough. Was very disappointed in this place but I kind of expected this walking in. Service was good. Phở was terrible.

Pros: Quite environment. Slow traditional music on background. Very clean restrooms. Friendly service. Neat table and seats. Good portion for one. Affordable price. Good Phở for non Vietnamese-eater Con: Phở is lacking of flavor, if you’re Vietnamese, you probably are not gonna enjoy it. I was confused when walk in and saw stack of menus at the door, wondered it’s a self service restaurant until the lady came and took our order. So probably just a confused set up. I only tried Phở here, so can’t speak for other thing. To sum up, it’s a nice place to have a quick meal with affordable price.

When its cold out doors nothing hits the spot better then some Phở. Many vietnamese restaurant dont offer a vegetable broth. That is where this place really shines. For those of you who prefer chicken & beef broth need not worry, they have you covered. I came here a few days ago with a co-worker who has never had any type of phở period. I told him to roll with me for lunch and try some out. I opted for the tofu phở with vegetable broth. Buddy got the beef phở & sure enough he was delighted. I also tried to tofu springs rolls, but in all actuality I’ve had better & the peanut sauce tasted a little sweet. Not bad tho. This place is very clean & the staff is friendly. Prices are fair & the lunch specials are nice too. Im be back on a cold one for more of that veggie phở. Good for the soul.

First off, I’ve been really sick and coming from overseas, I strayed from my usual remedy of Phở but thinking about the awesomeness of soup while you’re sick, I did a quick Unilocal search and one of the first local places that popped up was Phở Basil. It was like a sign from the noodle Gods and I knew what I had to do. So about the restaurant, it was centrally located off of Eldridge, easy access from either Briar Forest or Eldridge, clean, and they were very courteous. Service was prompt and they prepped my order exactly as requested to go. The soup was, just what the doctor ordered and had me on my way to health. Good phở is all about the right ingredients and they all fit the bill. Reasonably priced and the quantity was just right. If you’ve never eaten Vietnamese food, this is a great place to pop your cherry. If you have, then you’ll get what you expect to fulfill your craving.

Clearly I’ve returned(blame my coworker) so an update is deserved. That egg roll and phở is legit still, I can’t lie. The service, while improved since my first visit, still leaves MUCH to be desired #sigh Just don’t come here expecting checkups for refills, or extra anything you might need and shit… it will not happen!
