hi– me again. decided to stop in before my flight for some beer and BBQ. Still friendly and efficient. I’m having a pulled pork sandwich this time. pork is good and tender but their BBQ sauce is not good. not sure if these are normal or if their folks just didn’t make it right. I tried both original and hot & spicy. salty, too tomatoey and a weird spice that I can’t identify. I was hoping for a good sweet BBQ sauce. none here…

Nice place to grab a beer or 2 before hoping on a flight. This place is before security so not a bad spot to post up while waiting for someone either. The BBQ isn’t bad and prices are far. They have 2 sauces. The spicy is better and doesn’t really provide much heat but goes well with the meat. Brisket was really good and the turkey wasn’t bad. Limited menu but if your looking for a quick bite and a cold local beer it’s worth the stop.

Got stuck for four hours in Hobby, I didn’t plan on eating there because airport food is always overpriced and pretty subpar. I checked around the main hall and was disappointed to see only one restaurant… Well there’s no need for more, this is the best airport food I ever had and for the price of a bag of chips at LAX ! I got the pulled pork sandwich with fries for a little less than 10 $, the sandwich is prepared in front of you, the meat is delicious and there is a good choice of pickled stuff and homemade sauces to add to your sandwich. The fries were cooked on order, pretty thick and sprinkled with delicious seasoning … Pappas Bar-B-Q makes you feel welcome to Texas right out of the plane :)

I never had meat on my potatoes. But Pappas made me a believer in meat on my potato! Right outside the security check, its a great place to stop if you want to eat with folks not getting on a flight. Its a walk up and order counter with a full bar but a nice restaurant seating space. I had the pulled pork potato with everything and it was a nice big potato with plenty of pork! I finished the pork because I mean it would be silly to leave it and dove into the potato but had to leave a lot left since it was so big. My recommendation is to open it up and get all your toppings down in there because as you get deeper into the potato it gets dry. Definitely good for airport food and of course comes with airport pricing.

Basically, I would come to the airport and deal with crazy airport traffic and security and tourists EVERYDAY to eat here. This is the best barbecue I have had in a looooong time. I wish I lived in Texas! I had the brisket and the turkey. The brisket was very tender and had a great flavor. The turkey was phenomenal — smoked perfection, no sauce needed. My husband had the pulled pork which he described as «amazing, indubitably.»(Granted, he may have been making fun of my excessive use of adjectives.) The beans were a perfect combination of sweet and spicy, and the mac and cheese was creamy and delicious. The only thing I didn’t like was the green beans. No problem, I won’t get them next time. Next time I’m in Texas, that is. Unless they franchise — California needs this place ASAP!

This place«not bad for airport food». Sliced brisket was lean, moist, and tender. It lacked any smoke flavor. The ribs were actually not bad and good flavor. Avoid the BBQ sauce it was really bad. All sides are ok, nothing home made. Place is outside check point so a nice place to relax before cavity search.

Not bad at all for airport food. I had a BBQ turkey sandwich for $ 7.89 with tax which was very reasonable. The turkey was moist, flavorful, and plentiful. Self serve condiments station. The eatery was clean and the staff was very friendly.

I’ve been to the other location in Houston which is better but if you want good bbq at a airport this is the spot. I ordered the two way combo which had brisket and pulled pork. The portions were decent at a great price, however the brisket was a little too salty for me. The bbq sauce helped make it taste great! What really was cool and rare is that you can grab as many pieces of bread you need. I took four slices this helped me to make two sandwiches after I ate my first serving. I got two sides with my meal which was the mac and cheese and the bbq beans. The beans were delicious with a hint of brown sugar and beef. The mac and cheese was good but a little too loose on the cheese. I will definitely return if in Houston for a few hours but in prefer the I-45 location.

I came here for their BBQ baked potato and was not disappointed. Very yummy and hit the spot. Drinks here are actually not too bad, either. Of all the airport food I’ve had, I think this is probably one of the best places I’ve been to.

Ok. It’s airport food. So the bar should already be set pretty low. And for airport food it’s not bad. It’s not wowzers, but it’s not bad. It was a hot, fast meal. The staff was nice, and I could hang out with my mom before she went through security for her flight.

On a recent trip through Hobby I was running so far ahead of schedule that I finally felt safe in giving Pappa BBQ a try even though it was outside the security checkpoint. While it wasn’t the worst BBQ I’ve ever had it definitely left much to be desired. First let’s list the good points. The staff was helpful and friendly and the woman cutting my beef brisket actually listened to me and complied with my request for extra extra lean beef. This is a big plus for me because I absolutely hate beef fat in my brisket. The portions were also more then adequate and definitely left me feeling full when I was done even though I left more then half my fries and a small portion of sliced BBQ brisket sandwich on my plate. And short of being inside the security check point the location could not have been any more convenient for me. The problem is, and I really hate to say this because it is so hard for me to get brisket lean enough to suit me, it just didn’t taste very good. Oh I don’t mean it tasted awful or had that stockyard rot smell and taste that some beef has when it has been sitting too long, I just mean that it wasn’t that great. It had an almost burnt flavor to it and the sauce only seem to enhance that charred taste not reduce it or at least mask it. In addition the fries, while hot and fresh, were simply bland and uninteresting. Normally at a BBQ joint I would dip them in the sauce to fix that problem but again the BBQ sauce had that weird almost burnt flavor to it when I dipped the fries in it. I really hate giving this place two stars and wish that I could at least give it another half star because the beef was cut exactly the way I like it and and was just right so far as texture, consistency, and fat content were concerned. But in all honesty I just can’t do it because it says right here that two stars means I’ve had better and in point of fact I have had better BBQ, a lot better BBQ actually, and I think the next time I come to Hobby I will skip Pappa’s BBQ and head over to either Pappadeux or Pappa’s Burgers once I clear security. I know I won’t go far wrong with either one of those two establishments.

Had a sliced beef sandwich at the Hobby Airport location. The meat flavor was good but not great. I’m not a big fan of their sauces but I did like the pickled hot onions on the toppings bar.

The BBQ here was okay, it wasn’t all that great but if your hungry or thirsty it’s about the only option you have prior to getting passed security. I got my food and it looked great :) took a bite and it was COLD… Plenty of tables and stools at the bar to sit at, it was also very nice and clean. The staff was friendly! Oh and they have wifi which is great rather then having to pay boingo.
