Mexican Cafe Comala

Not worth the attempt. We saw the reviews and gave it a shot. I ordered the fajita meat tacos and they were chewy. And they charge of you want more than one bowl of chips. So many Mexican restaurants so pick another.

I wasn’t expecting it to be a café (deli) style restaurant. But we were blown away with the taste and quality! One of the biggest burritos I’ve had and I’ll def be back to get it! The margaritas were good and cheap for happy hour ($ 1.99). Living 5 minutes away we will be back several times! A must try for a fast Mexican fix!

Husband said it was the best menudo he’s had in a very long time! Also the homemade tortillas where yummy! I had the beef fajita and it was also very good! Don’t forget a big tall glass of horchata! This will probably be our new Sunday brunch place!

My husband and I were pretty disappointed in this place. First off I asked about the Queso con Chorizo. The waitress said it was a dip. I then asked her if if they made it like a Queso Flameado. She said no, but if that’s what I wanted they’d make it for me. Then I said ok, I’ll take that with some tortillas to eat it. Then I wound up ordering a fajita plate. When My food came out, I was really disappointed that the Queso was in fact a dip, not the Queso Flameado that I was expecting. Then on top of that it had a strong taste that we were turned off by. My fajita plate was a total flop. I’ve never been to a sit down Mexican restaurant that doesn’t serve their fajitas on a sizzling plate. These fajitas weren’t grilled. It looked like they were pan cooked. It’s sad when the only thing I enjoyed were my tortillas rice and beans.

The lunch specials are very delicious and priced right. One of my top 3 favorite Mexican kitchens.

This place is pretty good, reasonable prices and very friendly people. Everything on the menu is good from breakfast to dinner

Love this place. Excellent service and food. Nothing fancy but just awesome. Get the eggs rancheros you will love it.

Been coming here for years. Food is awesome and the ladys are always helpful. Good micheladas and the caldo’s are good too.

Awesome place. Order takeout and grab a beer and nachos while you wait. 1 beer later you are out the door. Food is awesome, portions are great. Staff seems super family oriented. there are always kids here. Prices are great too.

We were iffy since there weren’t many recent reviews but everything was hot and tasted fresh! My husbands only complaint was the tacos had way too many onions. Overall great place.
When you walk in there isn’t a hostess stand so we weren’t to sure what to do. They just told to sit anywhere. Came right over with menus & chips. Took our order & we had food before we knew it.

I ordered tacos al carbon, it was very good. Horchata was very good not too sweet.
The chips could of been better, they didn’t taste fresh. Not to shabby it’s close to home and wasn’t expensive.

The taco meat was beef fajita meat and had good taste to it
The nachos were disgusting.
The chips were soggy and the cheese is the kind of cheese you get from can, the kind they serve on nachos at high-​school football games.
Cheap, nasty Mexican food. Never again.

Hmm this is our spot when we are in the eastside of Houston. Keep coming back each time. Horchata is yummy. Torta de fajita is good. The steak comes with beans, rice and tortillas which is very juicy and DELICIOUS. The hamburger is HUGE. The food has always been good to me regardless of what I order. The waitress is super friendly. It is never busy. Must go!
Only thing I find annoying as heck, is a kid (either owner’s own child or relative), I have no clue but there is always a little brat about 1 – 3 years old running around. He is screaming and crying all the time we go. I think it is very bad for business and unprofessional. People want to go eat peacefully with family or maybe alone. It is not a playground but a place people want to enjoy geez!

DELICIOUS Salsa served HOT! All of my dinner was steaming HOT! Great wait staff. I ordered chicken enchiladas verdes. I was torn between ordering these or the chicken soup. I expressed that to my waiter and he brought me a small bowl of soup complimentary! It was delicious and STEAMING HOT! We were out of town 5 hours from home. We would drive back another 5 hours just to eat there again! You have to get here for this scrumptious Mexican fare!

Comalas has some of the best mexican food u can desire to eat. I can eat their beef fajitas tacos everyday.
