NOTJUSTMYPOST, THERESMORETHATARETHESAMESITUATION… Worst experience ever. It was me and 4 of my friends, all guys. We went inside and asked for a table. the guy said, «did you make a reservation» we said«no, we did not» he said, «yeah you have to make a reservation, we don’t have any tables available»(clearly in front of us there was many empty tables…) So he offers us a table outside, & we take it, cause they insisted on putting a heater outside. As were sitting outside, a few of our friends, girls, 8 in total, all Arabic, show up.(They were with their own group, we just happen to bump into each other) LITERALLY not even 2MINUTESLATER We tell our friends good luck trying to get a table and she says, «oh we got one» and so we go to the manager and ask him right infront of my friend(the girl) «we just asked 2 mins ago for a table and u guys didn’t have any» and the manger looked at us confused and like he didn’t care at all. So we explain to him again, immediately he had no care and he says, «like a club, we’re going to bring the girls in of course over a bunch of guys» and we looked at him in shock. This is a place to eat, this is not a club. He was super sexist; denied us service due to gender.

Stopped by this place one everning while waiting for my car… no one even talk to me. After a while i went inside and seeked help, the man told me i am am very«forward for a girl» what the hell does it mean… i have no idea. When i was ready to pay… i gave the man $ 40 for a $ 25 dollar meal(humus, salad, 2 kabobs, and pita!) He never came back for the change??? So i am not sure if i will get kill going inside for my change or he will deny i ever give him the cash… waited somemore… then I left. So if you want to have a taste of how women are being treated in this twisted realm, dont need to take any camel ride, just come to Mazaj…

There service is very bad and always you come and find good tables are reserved«as they said » . They don’t care about singles specially fro GGC countries. The problem is from management behavior

Best hookah in town, they use natural charcoal which makes your hookah tastes better. The staff are very friendly. The orders don’t take a long time and food is delicious. The atmosphere is great. I love the music. Also the valet parking is free. Indeed, I highly recommend Mazaj café because they are the best

The new place is stunning, price wise still expensive. But it’s worth a try, customer service is good. The owner of this place is always nice. I’ll be coming back soon for sure!

Went there for the first time today. Nice atmosphere and good food. Service was a bit slow, maybe because it was packed.

— the owner acts like he own the customers — also the owner is racist, he dont allow african american to join if they are young, specially if they are not with white people — the owner wont serve you sometimes if you are a single male or with group of men — all staff serve customers based on owners’ mood — the captan direct you to sit wherever he/she want even if you dont like it — the prices are too expensive compare to other 2 stars mediterranean bars — clean while customers sitting — lack of many things such as napkins, spoons, salt and pepper, sugar unless you ask for — hookah too expensive compare to quality — waiters fill sugar in cans outdoors — waiters forget to serve when busy — the only reason that makes me go is my friends — orders can easily messed up with other orders — loud and noisy music

This place is a joke right? Mazaj Café is possibly the most racist establishment I’ve been to around the area. Basic customer satisfaction is not a concern for anyone on staff at this place. The manager/owner seems to encourage the behavior. If you’re non-Arab expect to arrive at this place and stand around for a while despite the several empty tables. After you’re approached by staff don’t expect to sit at any of the tables that are empty and for no reason have a reserved sign placed on them. The reserved sign is there only for the Arab customers. If you’re not Arab expect to sit at some corner in the restaurant. Out of sight out of mind right? No seriously because no one is going to be taking your order for another half hour while you watch all the Arabs get arrive after you and receive food before you. Sitting at the place for 2+ hours I didn’t see anyone come in for those«reserved» tables. If you’re non-Arab I recommend you come and experience this for yourself. Ultimately, I highly recommend finding another restaurant/hookah café to eat at.

I came here on a Saturday night with two other people. The servers here are very friendly and nice. They had a lot of tables reserved for the evening and our server told us that most of them were for their regular customers. One thing I noticed was they serve bottled water and charge for it. Kind of unusual. The numbers in parenthesis below are star ratings for each dish. We ordered tea that is served lukewarm(4⁄5) and hummus with pita(4⁄5) for appetizer. I didn’t know you could call hummus pretty but it was the prettiest hummus I’ve ever seen. The taste was good but not great. I ordered chicken shawarma platter with rice and salad. The portion size is huge and the chicken shawarma(3⁄5)(try with the garlic sauce!) and salad(4⁄5) were pretty good. I Wasn’t a fan of their rice which tasted like tab water(2⁄5). Next time I’ll get fries(4⁄5) instead. They also do hookah but do not serve alcohol. We were given business cards by one of the servers and were told that they are moving to a different location pretty soon.(Only a block away). I think this place definitely deserves more than 2.5 stars which is the current rating.

Food — Decent, it’s not bad I could come here to eat dinner and leave pretty satisfied Shisha — The closest you’ll find to the motherland in Houston, very good and doesn’t taste bad like the other places in Houston. Service — This is the reason why I gave 3 stars instead of 5, the service is horrendous. They absolutely do not give a damn about you unless you can speak Arabic. I came here with a group of multicultural friends a few years ago, and the manager tried to tell me that there was a $ 20 minimum per person. We said okay, whatever, we’ll pay because we knew he did so to kick us out. He kicked us out anyway. Came back a few days later and one of the waiters confirmed my theory that we were kicked out because my group had people of different races. I still come here but only with certain people.

After seeing the reviews I came with my guard up literally looking for something negative to say about my experience. Parking was packed but I did find a spot so I can’t say there weren’t enough spaces. The atmosphere was really chill and laid back but still well kept and presentable. The hookah was hands down the best I’ve had in town and I’ve tried a few different places. It never seemed to run out or get harsh. They have a person with hot coal making rounds replacing coals on all the hookahs. I’ve never seen any other place do that, to get them to bring more is usually always a hassle. We ordered a plate of fresh fruit that was so sweet that I forgot to take a pic and show y’all lol. We also got the black tea and that was different, but in a good way. The staff was very nice and professional to us. I didn’t see any rudeness or disrespect of any kind to any customer, personally. This is the only hookah place I’ll go to from now on. I was exposed to real and now I hate lame. If someone tries it with me the next time I go or I have a run in with the infamous plexy owner, I’ll be sure to update.
